Marcello's :La Sirena Ratings and Reviews
We love La Sirena. Every time we go for dinner, we are never disappointed. The food, service, and wine list are outstanding. The menu was updated this season but some of our favorites are still there. Their bolonaise sauce is fabulous. The veal cutlet stuffed with fontina cheese with a black truffle sauce is amazing. This time, we were there celebrating a birthday with another couple who had never been to La Sirena before. They were impressed. La Sirena is still our favorite restaurant in South Florida.
We read the reviews and decided to try Marcello's as Italian is one of our favorite foods. I had the red peppers as an appetizer and the Dover sole and both were excellent. My husband had the stuffed clams and veal with arugula but neither was to his liking. As a side note Billie Joel was dining across from us so that was pretty awesome.
I live in New Jersey but recently brought my 94 year old mother and some cousins to La Sirena to celebrate her birthday. It was the second time we made the 45 minute drive to celebrate a family function. The quality of the food is unparalleled and the service is the same. My only regret is that La Sirena is in Florida, not New Jersey, where I could and would be a regular!!
I ordered a glass of Barolo, which was uniquely extracted with a special cork piercing technology. The wine was very good, but that's where the uniqueness ended. The homemade pasta ravioli appetizer was tasty, but the buffalo mozzarella overpowered the pasta. The main course Bronzino was meaty, but without taste. My expectations had been elevated after reading the history of the restaurant on its website. It did not live up.
Always excellent service, food, wine list and the staff makes everyone feel like a special customer. After a delayed flight, met my wife at the airport and said I needed a good meal. Walked in at 9:00 PM and was treated like family. As good as the food was, that was even better.
Very disappointing this time. We were the first people in the restaurant since it was a choice of 5 or 9:30. We ordered the veal zingar. It definitely did not taste cooked to order and at this level of restaurant I feel it should be. The breaded veal appeared to have been precooked and rewarmed. They definitely were not too busy to do it right. The accompanying sauce/vegetables, however, were excellent . Will not be back.
I have lived in Palm Beach 8 months a year since 1989 and have dined at most all "upscale" restaurants from Stuart to Boca Raton. None are any better than La Sirena and only 1 or 2 may be equally good.. The food, the service, and the very extensive wine selection all contribute to making your dining experience greatly enjoyable...Can't wait for our next visit...
We were seated at a table right in the pathway of the servers and were constantly being knocked into without an apology. When we asked if there was another table the front of house staff just said "no" and looked annoyed that we had even dared to ask. The table next to ours was converted from a four seater to a six seater mid way through our meal and the backs of our chairs keep knocking into eachother. Service was abrupt and plates were practically thrown on the table. Glasses that had been filled with sparkling water were topped off with flat water. The Dover sole special which was a small portion simply prepared was a shocking $50. Terrible value. Overall a very negative experience. Would never return nor recommend.
We went on Valentine's day -- the restaurant takes reservations for two seatings (5:30pm and 8:30pm). We had an 8:30pm reservation, but still waited a good 15 minutes before being seated -- and, a couple who arrived AFTER us, was seated BEFORE us. Tables are squeezed into the space -- which is annoying considering the price you are paying for the food and the reputation of the restaurant. Sure, with an extra 6 tables, they can make more $$$, accommodate more guests, -- but it really detracts from the patron's experience and this is a restaurant that is consistently packed. Our food was delicious -- no complaints here, although the patrons at the next table over were not happy with their bronzino (and, because the tables are so close together to "pack em in", it was very easy to find out they were not happy with their food).
We are never disappointed when we go to La Sirena. This time was no exception. Our favorite dishes were the buffalo mozzarella/tomato salad which is large enough to share; fettacine boulenaise; chicken cacciatore; and pounded veal chop. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The restaurant is small and very often crowded especially in season. Sometimes this is a problem but generally it is not an issue. La Sirena is our favorite restaurant in South Florida and we love going there. It never gets old!
Very nice dining experience. Somewhat crowded seating since tables are close together. Staff professional and attentive. We felt rushed to order and were served quickly which does not make for a leisurely meal. The wine selection was extensive and our Cotes de Rhone was excellent. Our entrees were outstanding (both of us had fish). Pricey but worth going to occasionally.
My girlfriend and I went here for our 1year anniversary, i enjoyed it alot, the service was great and the food was awesome too. As far as classy restaurants go the price wasn't horrible either. I would definitely recommend this place, and actually already have to friends and family
