Marcellino Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
I'm an Italian Restaurant fan! This is one of the best here in the Valley and I think in the US. And, I travel a lot and eat out a lot. The creative food and menu is tops. The owners are friendly and get to know you. Staff is well trained. All in all a MUST! Oh and by all means - try one of the special homemade pasta dishes which the wait staff "present to you" (off menu).
Upon entering we were offered a table inside or out. Before we could open our mouths to answer another hostess said "I don't have any more table's outside." Fair enough, but we saw many people coming in after us who were immediately ushered to an outside table. I realize that some of them may have been reserved, but I had a view to the outside from my table, and only a few had reserve signs on them. Can't help wondering, was it the way we looked, dressed, our age?
The service was excellent, and our waiter was top notch. However, the meal I ordered was very bland. It was hot and fresh though. My husband's meal was delicious, so it depends on what you order.
Personally, I would not go there again.
Our favorite — Authentic Italian food made from scratch. The pasta is handmade, the sauces are fantastic, and the entrees are delicious. I wish we had saved room for dessert.
The wine list is extensive and although there are a lot of expensive offerings, there are also reasonably priced and delicious wines. And the wait staff is very helpful with the wine list.
Marcellino has a full bar and a very comfortable dining room. Outdoor seating looks great but we wanted to listen to the live jazz, which is always fantastic without being overpowering.
We couldn’t have been happier with our anniversary dinner. Try the lamb Ragu.
We waited a good 10 minutes before we got greeted by an actual server. We were starving. I asked our waiter to go over the gluten free options and I felt like he completely disregarded my whole question. I just wanted to know the best things so I could order.... instead I got their pasta spheel... the food took FOREVER to get to us from appetizer to dinner. My date explained that if he were by himself, he would have left already. I completely agree. The food was really good, service could definitely improve.
Thirty seven dollars for pasta is absurd. This eatery justifies this rip off by touting "artisanal pasta" as it's specialty. NewsFlash: Every Italian woman in New Jersey can make her pasta from scratch (artisanal pasta). It is just pasta.
Do not be swayed by the pompous waiter, who reverently displays samples of the pasta varieties as if they were relics of St. Padre Pio. It is just pasta.
I suppose the chef-owner must do something to pay the high rents of Old Town Scottsdale. Serving food worth the expense would have been a better solution. It is just pasta.
Overall it was good, but nothing overly "special". The interior is beautiful and our requested table was perfect. Service was pretty good to start, but waned as our waiter got spread over multiple tables. We would certainly return to try other items on the menu and with expectations reset would likely be able to give a better review.
We arrived after our reservation (we were traveling with a newborn) and were worried that the kitchen might close. Thankfully we were accommodated and taken care of quite well. They we very warm and patient, oh and the food was fantastic! The live music also helped create a nice atmosphere.
Made reservations here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. They went above and beyond my requests and gave us most romantic table on the patio, provided a small complementary appetizer, dessert and cocktails. The service all the way from the waiter to the owners was outstanding in creating the perfect experience. Our waiter gave us a great idea of splitting our pasta dishes since my bf and I wanted the same two and they coursed them out for us. This allowed us to try two of their homemade pastas which were some of the best Italian dishes and pastas we both had ever had and it allowed us to relax and enjoy the variety of courses that were both ordered and complementary as part of the bday surprise. This is not a restaurant where they try to rush you or turn over tables. Your experience is most important to the staff and owners. We will absolutely be back and support this wonderful restaurant. Splurge and order the homemade pastas. Worth every penny!
Excellent ambience with a nice outdoor patio. Nice wine list especially with Italian wine options. Very nice homemade pasta with tasty sauces. Excellent service. Complimentary biscotti and Lemoncello after the meal. Pricy but not out of line for fine dining.
Would go back.
We ate at Marcellino Ristorante for my husband's birthday. The weather was glorious so we sat on the patio and enjoyed dusk and night skies. The service was great, the ambience was wonderful and the food was super-wonderful. My filetto was perfectly prepared and luscious and my husband's fish "soup" was beautiful and perfect. The chocolate mousse was close to perfect -- silky smooth and rich chocolate flavor.
The best way to sum up our dinner was my husband's comment, "This is like being in Italy!" Thank you for a wonderful evening.
A very busy night for the restaurant and due to great lower temps outdoor was slammed. It took very long to get our 1st bottle of wine and then to find our waiter to order a 2nd bottle was worse. We ordered the bottle 10 minutes before our food can and it arrived about 10 minutes after the food arrived. The food is worth the wait though.
We really think this restaurant is great and the staff is excellent and very friendly and helpful. We were there for restaurant week, which is always fun. I think that there was a problem with our order because it took forever for our appetizers to arrive. Even the people who sat down awhile after we did, received their appetizers first. When I called the waiter over, he was so nice and said it would be right out. And it was. The food, as usual, was delicious! My wife had the salmon and I had the filet. Perfect.
Gave advanced noticed that we would be celebrating my wife's birthday. The staff was extremely hospitable and friendly, and made congratulated her multiple times throughout the evening. The ambiance was perfect for a date night and the food was remarkable. The pasta was extremely tasty!
Restaurant Week- I tried the salmon and friend ordered the fillet. Probably the best salmon ever and the fillet was perfect!!
Bread with olive oil was a great way to start. I had a nice salad and friend ordered soup. Excellent!! Both ended with tiramisu which was superb!!!
