The ambiance was nice, the food was good, the service was good, too but overall it wasn't worth the money.
I've dined in much nicer restaurants with outstanding food and ended up paying less.
Over priced, over rated, expensive, small portions, that were basically tasteless.
Drinks, likewise, poorly constructed.
Moreover, Chef M. had the audacity to argue with a customer whose food order was admittedly lost by either the server or the kitchen.
Two couples enjoyed this very nice restaurant close to Scottsdale waterfront. One app tuna tartare was excellent. Special ravioli entree was delicious. Other entrees pasta with clams and salmon were also very good. Excellent service and ambiance.
Food was great service was ok could have been better. Will go back again
Amazing. Just as wonderful as our first visit!
Not really worth the $140 we spent
I have eaten at Marcellino's 4 or 5 times now, and always recommend it to friends and visitors. I grew up in New York and spent some time in Italy, and this is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten in, the best of Northern Italian, Southern Italian, and Scottsdale creative cuisine. Delicious home-made pastas, we also had tasty mussels (one of us had white sauce, other red, both great), and perfectly done salmon with the lunch special (including a glass of vino for a great deal). Server yesterday, I think her name was Jessica, made the experience even better, she was comfortable, casual, and funny (not pretentious, which can happen with food this good). You always see Marcellino back in the kitchen, so you know he's not just phoning it in, but making sure it's all done right.
It was our 58th wedding anniversary. Service was attentive and we enjoyed meeting Marcellino. We talked ourselves into the Tasting Menu. One of the salads, Pecorino and pear slices in greens with lemon dressing was outstanding, and we really appreciated the carefully chosen paired wines. The rest of the food was good but not amazing. The bill was surprisingly high. Our fault for not checking in advance. It would have been a terrific evening at a lower price, but it did not meet my expectations for such expenditure.
First time. Great ambience. Food was good. Service a bit spotty.
Great house-made pasta specials.
Great Food, Service and Ambiance. Loved every thing about this restaurant!!
Consistently excellent food and service .. superb pasta dishes ..gnocchi rules !
The singer was to loud sang same songs ruined our experience. We couldn’t talk and we won’t go back
As always, the handmade pasta dishes were the star of the show, but the supporting cast of wines, cocktails, service, ambiance, side dishes, desserts, and more all deserve awards too. Kudos to Marcellino and Sima Verzino for delivering a consistently 5-star dining destination on the Scottsdale Old Town Waterfront! Always a treat!
love the live music provided by Sima and All Star Trio
Food was excellent. Scallop appetizer in pesto was terrific. Pasta entrees were very good. Unique handmade pastas were paired with creative sauces. The kitchen definitely knows what it's doing...Everything was also ridiculously overpriced. This place would be great if the boss was picking up the tab, but there are plenty of equally good but more reasonable priced places in the neighborhood, some even in the same building.
While on the expensive side, the value is there. Pasta is fresche and prepared perfectly. Consider the quality of food and service to be equivalent to a top steakhouse but with outstanding pasta. Other dishes are very good as well but the excellent pasta specials are the draw.
Our server was overworked because the restaurant was curiously understaffed, considering it was peak season on a Saturday night. Not to mention, she wasn’t very pleasant. It took us 10 minutes to give a drink order, 30 more to receive our appetizer, and 30 more to place our dinner order. The pasta was very good, but any noodle substitutions had to be run by the chef because he doesn’t like changes. Really? You’re serving pasta, not painting a Picasso! Not worth the high price and less than average service
Wonderful restaurant featuring fresh pasta, a great wine list and supreme service!
Magical experience, wonderful ambience for an evening out with a friend who had never dined at Marcellino’s before
Marcellino's is never anything short of amazing. I have been dining here for a few years now and each time is just as good if not better than the last. The ambiance is perfect. Dimmed lighting, live music and dark interior. The food is always perfect and the wine pairing was spot on. The waiters are always extremely knowledgeable with their wine pairings which I appreciate. Both the owner and the gentleman singing that night came over and said hi and even gave us a copy of his newest music. It's just always an all around good experience.
The portions were small for the price we paid. Even the vegetables, which cost nothing, were skimpy. A side of pasta, instead of mashed potatoes would have went better with an Italian dish. Also, spinach would have been good with the rolled chicken breast with Fontina cheese. The wait were nice and helpful
It was my husbands birthday and we met my daughter and family. My one year old grandson was coming. The high chair I requested was already set up at our reserved table. The waiter was great. He made sure my grandson got his food quickly which keeps him occupied. Have been here before and will be there another time. Great food.
Went for New Year's Eve and it was nice to not have a prix fixe menu at a place with live music. We were sitting inside then went outside due to how loud the music was and a singer that wasn't the very best. Sitting outside was much better with the heaters on; it was very comfortable. I ordered the Scaloppine Gorgonzola which was very good, thinly sliced veal in a wonderful sauce that came with carrots (that were a little too crunchy), zucchini and broccolini. My husband had the caprese salad which he liked but the roasted peppers were so bitter that he couldn't eat those and after trying myself agreed. I was surprised that they wanted to charge us for the bread but the waiter took it off the bill since they only had a baguette on NYE and he raved on how good the focaccia bread was but then realized they weren't serving it. For dessert we ordered tiramisu which was good with a nice presentation of a flaming sugar cube. Service was good, attentive but not overbearing. What was strange is after our entree the waiter asked if he could bring back our compliments to the chef. We were dumbfounded and taken by surprise no restaurant had ever asked us that before.
Loved this intimate feeling restaurant with a warm vibe from the moment we entered the door. This was our first visit here and we felt thrilled that we had been able to get reservations for New Year's Eve. (Downtown Scottsdale is magical this time of year, too!) While the pasta prices are near the top, the quality of the food is as well. We were pleased with the menu choices and the excellent service. We will look forward to going back again.
Prices were ridiculously jacked up for New Years special menu. Sea bass looked like perch. Veal was weak. Pasta with shrimp was very good. Appetizer with prochuto was very good.
We dined New Year's Eve and chef had a special menu with all his specialties and house favorites. We came for the house made pasta so we ended up skipping the appetizers and instead ordered 3 pasta dishes. Lobster ravioli and seafood linguine were fantastic, but the flat pasta with white truffles were divine. Do yourself a favor and pair your meal with a wine selected from Chef's hometown in Italy. There is a section on the wine list featuring wine from his hometown only so you know it is fantastic. Definitely going back!
New Years Eve
Marcellino's did it again! A magical evening all around-- the ambiance and service are superb, the cuisine is unparalleled in Scottsdale! In fact, the entire experience is reminiscent of times in some of the finer restaurants in Italy or NYC but with a very welcoming touch by the owners. We have been dining at Marcellino's since in opened , originally in Phoenix about 14 years ago and it is hands down, our family's favorite restaurant. The cuisine is world class--cannot say enough positives about this very special place.
Another fabulous meal at one of our favorite restaurants!
