I would have given a 5 star review, but I had an uncomfortable, rude experience at the host stand. I told the host my name for my reservation and then another party walked in after me and she asked them for their name. She then took them and seated them ahead of me and ignored me! She came back and sat me, but that was really rude, to take them ahead of me! The food was great and the specials were wonderful. They need work at the host stand. Very bad start to my anniversary dinner.
Setting beautiful. Music loud. Patio nice. Server extremely slow unfriendly. Food tasty but lack in quantity slightly over priced. Pasta lacked a depth for fresh pasta.
It took us 3 hrs to eat. That’s too long.
Glass of wine turned. Serve bad Cabernet.
Amazing, food was delicious, fresh and flavorful. Service was great, one of the best restaurants in Phoenix!
Great live music. Excellent food and service.
Excellent food, excellent service, very pricey.
Servers and owners had an attitude. Mediocre loud entertainment. Overpriced!
My review is a little bit unfair to the restaurant due to the fact that the things I’m going to talk about we’re indications of a popular place. The one thing that I didn’t give it five stars on was the ambience because it was New Year’s Eve and the place was packed. The singer was singing and the noise level was way up and it made it difficult to sit across the table from my partnerAnd talk to her. There was nothing that the restaurant could do about that other than maybe not having the singer saying but he was really good. The food was excellent our waitress was impeccable friendly courteous and knowledgeable.
Awesome service and a very nice place but the portions were very small for the price and drinks were way overpriced.
Dined here last night for our anniversary - was very much looking forward to the experience as we hadn't been since they re-located from the old Northern Ave. location.
Ambiance was great - they did a very nice job with the build-out; waiter was super friendly but that about where it ends. Whether he has several "difficult" tables or was just over-stretched, we didn't see much of him...from being seated to cashing out, it took 3 HOURS. Wouldn't mind so much, but it also took 25 minutes to order a bottle of wine.
Food was ok. It's obvious the difference homemade pasta makes; the lamb ragu with rosemary pasta was very good - no big "wow" on the flavor. My wife had another special pasta with shrimp and sliced scallops which were VERY fishy and chewy.
End of the night, we were frustrated and disappointed - again, a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter, just didn't see much of him which really wore on us and tainted every part of the meal from there.
Value for my $200? Hell no. Tempted to give it another shot...? Hard to say...that's a lot of cash to drop to leave frustrated not blown away by the food.
The food was good and we were there to celebrate a birthday so the bday boy got a free desert. That was nice. Prices were in the range of an elite steak house. Seemed a bit pricey to me but I guess that’s what to expect in SCOTTSDALE.
Sarah was a terrific server!
Best Italian food I’ve had in Scottsdale. Food and service was amazing.
We enjoyed the food and the service. You will enjoy your visit with good food from Marcellino. There seems to be a lot of reserved tables that never get filled up.
The pear/parmesan salad was outstanding. We ordered lobster pasta. At $48, we thought it was a bit pricey. The vongole scialatielle was outstanding. Same for the apple galetta. The hazelnut sorbet was too sugary for our taste. All in all, an outstanding restaurant, with great food, very professional service. We will be back!
The food was great and the live music was neat but the volume was way too loud. That ruined an otherwise terrific dinner.
Excellent tasty delicious pastas and food
It was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to try someplace new. It was beautiful inside. Warm and inviting and not stuffy at all. They seated guest spaced throughout the restaurant so they weren’t all group together. Service was attentive and helpful. Good pacing was perfect. At no time did we feel rushed.
We ordered a dessert and coffee and they brought two as a recognition for his birthday which was very nice.
The food is outstanding. The menu looked wonderful and then they have almost a half dozen more specials based on their homemade pasta. There were too many good choices.
It is not a cheap place but the whole experience was worth the price.
I can’t wait for another reason to visit and try more of their varied menu.
The food was fabulous!
Save your money and go to Olive Garden franchise restaurant if you want to eat subpar food. Not worse the time and money.
My wife and I dined at Marcellino Ristorante, in Downtown Scottsdale for the first time and the occasion was quite special for us. Having young children a evening for just the two of us is always special.
The evening started off well, a pleasant greeting and being given a nice corner table, private with plenty of room. Water was immediately offered, we preferred sparkling which was promptly poured, but was nearly topped up with tap water minutes later which we fortunately stopped.
The service was excellent throughout. I cannot remember the lady's name but she was extremely knowledgable on the menu and wine list. She assisted us in trying a good Brunello, which was excellent and her manner was quietly efficient throughout.
The issues really came when we were persuaded to order Pasta, not usually my first choice but the special pasta's on offer sounded delightful. My Shrimp and Lobster red sauce pasta was quite tasty but Lobster, what Lobster? My wife's was worse. She ordered the Porcini Mushroom pasta with just lobster. Again, there were microscopic pieces of shellfish which for a $48 entree with no accompaniments I thought was extremely expensive. We should have stuck to our original choices of Filet and an Italian style Cioppino.
Dessert was ok. An Apple crispy puff pasty thing with a side of Gelato, $14.
The final bill was over $300 which for a Tuesday night was a little extravagant even with a $100 bottle of wine. Don't get me wrong I don't mind paying this much for a great dining experience but Marcellino's did not impress. There are plenty of excellent unpretentious restaurants in the Phoenix Metro area which will still gain my customer support. Such a shame Marcellino's won't be on our list to return.
Outstanding food, service and ambience. The live music was an added bonus. Our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The next time we are in town (from Oklahoma) we will definitely be back.
Sarah was amazing!!!
We had a fantastic meal on the Patio the service was fantastic. The food was so awesome. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. Very special evening.
Upscale dining perfect for VIP experience. The food is great.
Marcellino Ristorante is always a treat. The food is always prepared fantastically. We were particularly pleased with the service Bettina provided. This is the first time she was the server. We will continue to go back anytime we are in downtown Scottsdale at lunch or dinnertime. We have always highly recommended this restaurant to our friends.
We’ve been here at least once a year since we moved to Phoenix. When asked where I wanted to go for my 50th birthday, there was no hesitation. Fresh house made pasta, top notch service, amazing atmosphere all make for a really top notch experience. This time was no different. We had the carpaccio de manzo (beef) that never fails to impress. We also got a half order of the gnocchi Gorgonzola as a pasta course. They are, the only word is, ethereal! Light and tender and pillowy and savory and creamy and completely mind blowing with the gentle Gorgonzola robes they wore. When I got the night’s special of osso buco with saffron risotto I stopped paying attention to my husband all together. He had the porcini mushroom pasta with lobster and devoured it. Or so he told me later. I was too busy relishing the tender bits of succulent veal braised slowly for two days in wine and marrow and aromatics on a lovely yellow saffron risotto with the perfect bite to creamy ratio. I ate way more than I should have, and have some leftover that will reheat nicely when I get home. They also offered dessert for me for my birthday. I was stuffed, but they sent me home with some tiramisu. Normally I can’t stand it for some reason, but the midnight munchies hit me and I had to take a bite. And another, and another. Seriously solid tiramisu! Everything about our experience was above and beyond expectations. I think this is my favorite restaurant ever!
Excellent homemade pasta. The best in Arizona. Had fettuccine contradina! A vegetarian entree that was delicious! A little more ricotta would have been nice but flavor was good. My husband had the pasta with broccoli rabe but this dish is strong on the garlic but tasty. Chocolate mousse was good too
We had the most amazing dinner of our trip and wished we'd gone back 2 nights in a row!!
Everything was perfect
Thanksgiving holiday weekend. On vacation.
Robert did great job, food was delicious, everything was 1st class
Great place with top of the line food. This place never disappoints. Be sure to ask about their specials. Deserts are a bit on the small side, especially if you plan on sharing.
The band was too loud as it was right next to the tables.
There was a live band, therefor the noise level was as expected, loud. We immediately requested a table farther away from the center of the room and was immediately accommodated. Our service was perfect. Quickly clearing table after every course, recommending the perfect wine for our taste and price range and not hovering but allowing us to enjoy our time. Thank You.
The pasta specials are unique and there were several to choose from. Great wine list, delicious food. I will definitely go back.
Knowledgeable server, excellent food and service. Beautiful plating.
Ambiance Great. Food Perfect. Service Lovely. Recommend for a fancy night out. :)
Beautiful restaurant and excellent food!
It took an hour and a quarter before there was ANYTHING on the table. That consisted of a small basket of bread which was so-so at best. We weren’t asked if we’d like something to drink until 45 minutes in, at which point we ordered a bottle of wine which arrived 30 minutes later. The band took 2 intermissions in the time between when we arrived and the time we got our appetizers. The food was average at best, the band was too loud although that may have been because we were seated right in of it. The waiter was unapologetic, and it wasn’t a busy night so there’s no excuse for the delays.
We took 2 friends and thank goodness one of them suggested this place because I would not have wanted to be responsible for the embarrassment of choosing this restaurant. I wouldn’t go back there ever.
Don’t ask for reviews if you can’t function like a proper restaurant. It won’t help your business.
