A must try if you love Italian!
The food was excellent. We had the specials; sea bass and squid ink pasta with sautéed calamari, clams and lobster.
The quartet was also very good. The vocalist was tremendous and the bass player, Mel was awesome.
The food was very good but not exceptional for the price. I was not wowed !!!
Service was excellent, ambiance very good. Example of my compliant, i had the most expensive dish with a half lobster that was mushy at best. I am in the Seafood business so I do know seafood better than most. The apple desert sounded awesome but the crust was very hard to cut thru and just missed the mark. Thank you David
Marcellino Ristorante was fantastic. The live music really set the perfect mood for a romantic date night. Nothing better than a glass of wine, delicious food, and some Sinatra covers going on in the background.
Our group enjoyed every dish we ordered. Hands down this place was amazing; from the food to the wine to the music. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Best pasta I’ve ever had—including in Italy. Always impresses.
Thanks for a wonderful dinner! The food was fresh and everything was delicious!
This was our first time dining here, and the staff was very professional and attentive and pleasant. We both had the pasta specials offered for the evening and mine was a bit too spicy, which I wish I knew in advance, as I would not have ordered it, and I wasn’t able to finish it. I enjoyed my husband’s dish much more, it was quite good. I do think our meal was quite expensive, and we did not have wine. I believe their desserts for $14 each, are also quite expensive. All in all, we would not come back for a return visit, it was over $150, and no wine! While we knew the prices of our dinners when ordering, in hindsight, we both think it was not worth what we were charged.
I have loved Marcellino’s since it opened on Northern many years ago. The food and the service were always unparalleled in quality. Perhaps it was a bad night but the word that comes to mind about last night’s dining experience was “meh?” Quite honestly, the food wasn’t as good as it used to be. Mind you, it was good but not spectacular. It made me sad. We were a table of 4. Three of us got our meals and we waited 7 minutes for the fourth to arrive without apology. I am unsure whether our server was aware of the delay as someone else delivered our food. Our server was charming and personable nonetheless.
I was left with an overwhelming impression that the restaurant is succumbing to culinary hubris.
With so many great Italian dining venues in Scottsdale, I really hope Marcellino’s steps it up to reclaim its former glory.
Atmosphere was perfect; not too dark or too loud. The service and the food were outstanding. Highly recommend. Marcellino's reminded us of restaurants we visited in Italy. You felt like you were home.
Love the specials the squid infused pasta with seafood was fantastic.
Lovely restaurant but not a great experience. Waiter, Robert, was quite cluelessq. Whilst the kitchen tried to be accommodating to a special dietary needs diner, Robert was unaware of the ingredients in the dishes and had to check with the kitchen several times. He informed us that no other accommodations to the menu would be accepted (different sauce on a pasta, for instance). When he poured the wine, he literally turned the bottle upside down into the glass allowing for all of the sediment to drain into the glass. The spinach/ricotta ravioli was overly loaded with spinach, making it bitter. The porcini pasta special was good, but the lobster was over cooked. Overall, it felt as though the restaurant caters to its chef's ego, rather than its patrons. Won't return.
Terrible value. Said pasta had a half pound of lobster what a joke. Had maybe 5 or 6 little pieces.
We were there for Arizona Restaurant Week and told the restaurant so. The waiter knew this as well but told us we had more options. After listening to him we again told him we wanted to order off the restaurant week menu and we did. When the first course arrived we determined that both the soup and the Bufala needed salt. We weren’t able to get anybody’s attention so my wife went across the dining room and got a salt shaker herself. The second course was fantastic. The third course was also fantastic. The wine paring was fantastic as well.
Incredible experience all the way around.
I hate walking out of a restaurant angry and irritated, but that’s what I did. Let me say this, the gnocchi was phenomenal. Everything else sucked. Christian, our waiter, said he liked first time guests because he wanted to make a great first impression. The only impression we got was that of an inattentive waiter who would just disappear for long periods of time. Even though I made a reservation, we were stuck at a small table for two (in a half empty restaurant), only to have two others seated so close that they practically sat on our laps. The carpaccio desperately needed salt or the dressing it was supposed to have. My friend’s salad was barely dressed. The filet mignon tortellini, or whatever it was, tasted like something out of a Chef Boyardee can. Honestly, I hate writing bad reviews, but stay away from this restaurant, otherwise you are just throwing your money away.
This is the place to go for fresh pasta and creative infusions.
Great food, great service!!
This restaurant was exactly what I was hoping for to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. It's intimate and quiet; the ambiance is old-world modern and very inviting. The live music is lovely and isn't so loud that it's intrusive. The meal service was unrushed and leisurely. We would have liked a little more time between courses, but even at the pace that it was, it worked. The staff was not in a hurry to evict us to make room for the next reservation. Lingering after the meal seemed almost to be encouraged.
The food was amazing! Hands down, the best meal we have ever had. The sauces, flavors and spices were perfectly balanced. This is a restaurant that doesn't put salt or pepper on the table - they don't need it. We had freshly made pasta - squid ink infused fettuccine with a spicy tomato sauce, mixed with lobster, squid, clams and mussels and porcinni fettuccine with mushrooms and lobster in white wine butter sauce topped with fresh shaved black truffle. OMG, to die for! Oh, and the tiramisu is wonderful - says the person who has NEVER liked tiramisu.
If you are looking for a special occasion restaurant, this is your place.
Great Italian my wife and I love the home made pastas . Sauces are excellent, beautiful restaurant for business or romantic evening
When in Scottsdale we always make this spot a must
The food was amazing!
Very good food. The creamy gorgonzola sauce on the gnocchi could have been more flavorful. However the panna cotta was amazing.
Epic! Greatest Old Town Scottsdale restaurant experience!
We were visiting from out of state and found this via Yelp. What a great restaurant. We were treated so grandly as we were celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter was very attentive and everything he suggested was spot on. There is nothing like homemade pasta! We also loved the entertainment. I would highly recommend this place!
Had an excellent dinner here. Pasta was all homemade. Prices were a bit high. Would recommend for a special meal not everyday dining
Wonderful food and pasta was delicious!
Besid s the wonderful cuisine the music provided by monte was excellent as if enjoying a Sinatra album🇮🇹 with your best friends!!
Fantastic dinner Fantastic service!
Our experience at the bar was quite lovely ... they were rather accommodating!
Dinner was lack luster. My entree was awful, it was drenched in olive oil and when I was finally able to catch someone’s attention for assistance it was met with disagreement and nonchalance. Then another waiter came over who at first agreed with the others, then did see all the oil and apologized ... however at that point it was 9:30 and my companion was nearly done with dinner. They did offer to take my meal off the ticket, which was nice however the evening was ruined, unfortunately. Darn. I really wanted to love Marcelinos, I had heard great reviews.
Took my fiance here and we loved it! Everything we ordered was amazing! Definitely going again.
Thank you for being the best!
The food is always phenomenal! Have eaten at their restaurant since it was off the 51.
Food unfortunately average.
I have very high expectations.
Throughly briefed the staff prior to arrival and upon arrival, that it was my new wife’s birthday.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was done to mark the event.
It was hot in the restaurants to the point we were sweating. The half lobster on squid pasta was mealy.
Server was ok but everyone else that worked there seemed annoyed that they were there.
The restaurant has always been great and I send all my out of town friends there. I’ve Been there a lot but this last time was just not what the restaurant is about.
Enjoyed the 2 person band!
Loved their chef special pasta
The fresh pasta was to die for, and the service was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The food and service were absolutely perfect. The appetizer and pasta dishes were delicious and authentically Italian. There was ample parking beneath the restaurant. The ambiance was outstanding. Quiet restaurant with excellent decor. Could not have been better.
Great food good service we keep coming back. The homemade pasta is excellent and the homemade biscottis the best anywhere just a nice place and love the music
Not over powering. Will be back soon
Outstanding in every way. The live music was an added bonus.
Excellent food in a charming atmosphere!! Great for a special occasion!
