Marcella's Ratings and Reviews
It was Valentine’s Day, so it was very busy. We were seated by the kitchen, although there were other tables available from the time we arrived until we finished.
Our server forgot to give us bread. But otherwise she was attentive and on top of things. The salad dressing was way too strong . The pasta was quite good, my husband enjoyed the lasagna and I enjoyed the Capellini a great deal. The bread, when we asked for and received it, would have been better left forgotten altogether. The Chocolate Almond cake, which we split and was plenty, was exquisite!
Wonderful place. Went the day before Valentine's Day with expectations it would be crowded and busy. While that prediction was true, the service did not lack in any way. The server was great, our food came quick, and our drinks were brought fast. Definitely recommend this place for a fun special date night.
Reservation was for 7:00pm for 2 people, we were seated at 7:35pm. The bread is simple white bread, with too much chewiness to be authentic. The cocktail was weak in flavor and in alcohol. The pasta dish was simply penne and sauce, which was extremely spicy. Very mediocre experience.
The experience was exactly what we have come to expect from CMR. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We never felt rushed when we told her that we weren't in any hurry to get anywhere. When I told her we were just planning on splitting one meal, she made absolutely no negative faces or expressions. The meatball appetizer was great as always and the gnocchi was soooo good. Great last meal before we started a 3-Day Shake Cleanse!
We had a delicious meal and were taken care of by a wonderfully capable and friendly server, Colin. Everyone's special dietary needs were met easily and with great compassion and support from the host to the server. I will definitely return to this restaurant the next time I am in Columbus and will look forward to taking friends there as well.
Casual atmosphere, everyone was enjoying their meal and friends.
Service was impeccable, our waitress was Hannah and she was sweet and accommodating.
The meal was very good. I loved the meatball, the penne allla arrabiatta delicious, I did not think it was supper spicy (I grew up on spicy food) my husband thought it was spicy. I had the strawberry balsamic, also very good.
The cherry crustada and the profiteroles were enough for 4 people. I really liked the cherry crustada was very good like a rustic apple cherry pie. I was not a fan of the profiteroles, just my taste. We got there at 5:30 in a Thursday and our food was on the table within 15 mins. They did not rush us at all and Hannah was at the table at all the right times, we did not want for anything. I will go there again, if I did not mention the meatballs they were excellent, next visit will be a meatball, bread and a bowl of sauce, a glass of red wine.
Absolutely wonderful overall! The service was especially great, and I'm still dreaming about the delicious food. I know it's out of their control, but we made reservations at 6:00 and were not seated until 6:45. Fortunately my date and I were not in a hurry, but being a typically time-worried person (especially if we were seeing a show or something like that after dinner) I would have been very worried. However, overall great if you're not a hurry.
I am aware of Marcella's excellent reputation. Everything was great, but our server was lacking. We were there at 6:00 so it was not crowded. My husband and I ordered a drink before the rest of our friends arrived. The bar was not busy. It took seemingly forever to get the drinks. My
experience has been, people will wait on food, not drinks. Anyway, appetizer were good, served by our server. Our entrees were served by other servers (totally understandable) however; I asked one fellow to bring more bread. Our server NEVER checked back with us. Finally, when we were finished, she showed up, asked if everything was ok, I said no, we asked for more bread and we needed more water (pretty basic). We will likely not return.
I had the Chicken Parm - excellent. The proportion was generous and could really be shared but wanted leftovers. My husband had the Chicken Marsalla which looked very good and he enjoyed it. We always get the hot Pecorino cheese/apple/honey appetizer which is great with beer or wine. This is a place that feels very comfortable - Lots of energy without being too noisy.
The overall experience was great. Food is amazing and the meals are fairly priced. The restaurant is VERY loud, so it’s not a great place for casual conversations or large parties. Our server was only OK, he wasn’t very attentive and only came to check on us once before we had to hunt him down just to get our check.
