Marcella's Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating just getting married the week before. It was crowded and the reservations were running behind. The food was fantastic- my husband went from being grumpy and impatient to very satisfied with his food and Manhattan. We will be back for sure!
We like Marcella's, but it would serve them well to select friendly, engaging receptionists. Our reservation was for 5:15, so the restaurant wasn't very busy yet. I walked up to the reception area and the receptionist/greeter just looked at me. Literally. No words. No smiles. Just looked at me!! I paused for a few seconds, thinking she was going to engage with me....nope! I was the one who had to say hello. She replied hello....that's it...nothing else. I then had to say "how are you?" She replied "fine." That's it..nothing else!!! I then had to say, "I have a reservation, etc." What the hell!!!! Hire someone with a personality!!!! She's the blonde one...longish, straight hair...slender. She needs a desk job with no people interaction.
Love Marcellas have eatin here a few dozen times for everything from birthdays, date night, ladies night. Always have a great time! I’m gluten free and usually have things to choose from. Seems like they’ve changed the pizza crust lately, still good, but not like its been many times before. Overall I enjoy this place and its one of few places I can slide in when I eat a late dinner on weekends.
My friends and I came here for New Year’s Eve. It was a great experience overall, and the food was delicious. My only complaint is that the waiter seemed like he did not want to be there and forgot the dessert we ordered (we let it go and did not say anything). He brought us the check instead, 30 minutes before midnight, and didn’t even ask us if we wanted another drink. I thought that was odd considering the occasion and the fact that they had stopped seating tables by then so we weren’t preventing him from getting another party. I would still return because they have great pizza and an upscale ambience that we all enjoyed! I also appreciated that the hostesses passed out champagne before the count down to the new year.
Went to Marcella's after the BlueJackets game on New Year's Eve. Definitely within walking distance from Nationwide Arena, even in the single digit bitter cold temps that we experienced that evening on New Year's Eve. Marcella's was packed that night due to NYE, and we arrived about 15 minutes early, but we were seated immediately. Table space is pretty limited and I would classify as very tight. If you are looking for cozy and quiet this is not the place.
The menu is pretty diverse and we mainly just ordered a few appetizers. We ordered a cheese board with 3 selections, as well as the the Italian sausage and burrata appetizers. Everything was great, however I was a little disappointed in the cheese board. Basically is was just 3 chunks of cheese on the board. Nothing really to go with it. In other places that I have ordered charcuterie or cheese boards there is always something along the lines of homemade crackers or toasted bread to go along with it. Again, this was my only disappointment in the meal, overall everything was great including the service. Would I return? Maybe, but would not order the cheese board again.
We went there before a very busy concert, traffic was horrible, we were late for our reservation by 15 minutes. The restaurant was packed. I did call to say we were running behind. They did accommodate our party well for arriving late. We only waited about as long as we were late. It all worked out ok.
The appetizers that we ordered came out rapidly! That was a good thing for us. The Drinks from the bar were perfect, the food was fine.
The Service was not good. I had to keep asking the waiter for more water, and I had asked for more marinara sauce for my Spaghetti and I ended up having to ask a second time and he brought it about 20 minutes later. The spaghetti was very dry and the appetizer was not good.
This was our second visit to Marcella's. Very friendly staff. Great food and desserts. Sharing is allowed at no extra cost. Valet parking out front with ability to text to have car ready when leaving. Is located in hip section of city. I would recommend to everyone.
I made a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday. We arrived there at 5:29 and had to wait until 5:50 to get a table after watching people with 6:00 reservations be seated before us. When I raised the question why this was happening with the staff, I was told it was because I had requested a warm spot away from the front door. Apparently that meant they could only consider seating us all the way in the back and no where else. The food and waitress were very good. Just wish the greeters could plan better. I didn’t make an early reservation to stand there for 20 minutes. News flash to the greeter; don’t offer people your are making wait, a seat at the bar when there aren’t any seats there either. Duh! Kudos to the chef. He/her saved the evening.
Marcella's is a perennial favorite for my husband and I, but we were bummed out that it took about a half hour to order a glass of wine this time around. We were with friends who drove in from Cleveland just for dinner and they were thirsty! Dinner was delicious, as always.
The food and drinks were excellent. We started with the Pecorino fondue for appetizer and strawberry basil for drinks. We then had the Goat cheese Ravioli and clam linguine. Topped the night off with the tirimisu. We will definitely be back to try other dishes. Would highly recommend a visit here to all.
