Marben Ratings and Reviews
We booked a table last minute, 8:10 for an 8:30 reservation, party of 4, and we got a great table. We did unfortunately have to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated at the table though. Then once we were there, I order a half dozen of oysters that took about 25 minutes to get to our table. I had wanted to order a few other starts off the menu for sharing with the table but by the time we got the oysters I was not willing to wait another 25 minutes for just the shares, so I just ordered the burger. I would have ordered the lamb Duo if the food had come out sooner. I was ready to spend some money but instead I got slow service. The food was delicious though. Really well done. One guest of the table ordered what we thought was a main but the serving size was more like a small salad. That was quite disappointing also. Overall, not a great experience but got some a couple complimentary glasses of wine which made up for it a little bit. Still would have liked to have had the full experience I was hoping for.
Fabulous dining experience at Marben! Celebrating a special belated birthday in Toronto and was extremely impressed with everything Marben has to offer. Creative coctails, exquisit food, and excellent service! Great value as well! Had the tenderloin steak that was perfectly cooked and the chicken described as beyond perfect. The treacle pie was quite more-ish too. Ambiance was also delightful.
I absolutely love the ambiance and look of Marben. The decor inside and the outdoor patio are beautiful - and the "secret" speakeasy-inspired bar downstairs (The Cloak) is a gem. That said, it is quite expensive - I actually find it overpriced based on portion size. My husband's burger was undercooked and the vegetarian dish I got was a bit disappointing. I recommend going there for a few drinks and maybe the cauliflower bites and grabbing dinner somewhere else. I've also heard they do an excellent brunch!
It was nice having dinner out. I brought my uncles and my father and they enjoyed it. I have been here couple of times and it's always been good and the services and the food it's pretty awesome and delicious. In this evening we tried the summerlecious menu and it did not disappoint.
I have never once sent my meal back, but I did today at Marben. My fiancé's meal was undercooked (potatoes and carrots were not cooked at all with the steak), and my meals (the risotto) was over cooked, mushy, and tasted like sweet porridge. We sent our meals back, and while the servers felt extremely bad, they still made us pay for a portion of the meal (appetizers and drinks). If we had to send our main course back, we shouldn't have to pay for any part of the meal at all. They gave us a gift certificate for the price of ONE of our meals, not even both, and we couldn't use it on the day of as they wanted us to use it for our next visit, as if we would ever come back ...
