We loved the decor, the food, and the wine. 1/2 price bottles on Sundays is a perfect deal. We did have to wait quite a long time for our meals but our friendly server made it up to us. We are looking forward to returning.
We were disappointed at waiting almost 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. I understand this can happen through no fault of the management but I think we should have been offered something beyond a simple "sorry." It also took 3 tries before we received the correct bill. Otherwise the food was good, the place is attractive but kind of noisy.
Food was phenomenal, service was excellent, ambiance is fantastic. Highly recommend for any occassion - and The Cloak downstairs is a supercool haunt for drinks/snacks!
We shared an order of dashi mussels - wonderful flavors with chile and ginger. The Canadian Viognier was also outstanding.
Fantastic restaurant! We try to get here as often as we can.
Saturday night dinner with six friends...
Service and food were very good. The table platters are a great option for groups of four more. The booth we had was bit too tight. A table would have been better.
The food was magnificent. The service was exemplerary and the overall experience was one of the best I have ever had in a Toronto restaurant.
Memorable dining experience with a good meal supported by a great staff. Our server Jason was simply awesome. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. We will surely drop by again.
Spouse had been before with a friend. Local food is featured, nice ambiance, but found it quite dark. Outside seating will be nice in the summer. As a vegetarian, I find eating out very tricky. There were two veg options on the appetizer list and one main. We shared the ploughmans platter, spouse eating the meat part, myself the cheese. Was tasty, but extremely tiny portions of two kinds of cheese (two slices of one and a tablespoon of the other). Meat selection more varied and larger portion. Huge portion of greasy toast. (Please stop with the 'expeller-pressed rapeseed - canola is canola - nasty). The meat selection was apparently delicious. Spouse ordered pork belly, I had the one main - roasted Veg (mostly root) vegetables with mushrooms. Belly good, accompanying rutabaga, meh. Veg dish was fine, but a very small portion and just that and a very dark (black) sauce that was devoid of flavour. We shared the rhubarb apple dessert - very nice. Spouse's cocktail excellent. Cafe Americano delicious. Nice atmosphere, better than average food, trendy, but don't expect to be full, but you will be out $130.00.
Lovely ambience. Friendly staff and great food. Not too noisy so easy to have a quiet conversation.
Great meal. Great service!
We had the family style chicken and it was fabulous. Lots of leftovers as we were tools there would be.
Great ambience. Good vibe.
Will definitely return.
Went for brunch with a girlfriend and this is now my favourite breakfast spot! The decor is classic and cool, and the ambience warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive. We both had the Caesars; they were adequately made, but not a standout. However everything was uphill from there... we ordered the peameal sandwich, and fry up breakfast. My friend loved the bread the peameal Sammie came on, and the fries and aioli were great; fry up was exactly what I wanted... almost like a proper English breakfast. Both of our dishes had eggs cooked perfectly, and while everything was great, the sourdough toast with marmalade was AMAZING! The burger and salmon dishes that other diners ordered at different tables looked delish, too! Would definitely try dinner here, and hopefully many more mornings at brunch.
Ordered the sirloin and it was extremely tough, almost inedible. Service was slow and everyone left disappointed for the price point. The restaurant is very nice with a good vibe.
Food is very good. But service is poor. The waitress ignored us many times when we needed something. It was a birthday and I left a note during reservation. But the dessert plate was bad looking.. it was simple.. just the dessert with a candle. I was expecting more attention and detail to this dessert.
Marben is such a unique place to enjoy great food. As a first time visitor from Pittsburgh, PA I was more than pleased with the quality of food, service, and overall vibe of the restaurant. The staff was also incredible. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and willing to explain the menu. It was evident that he knew everything about the food and the ingredients within each meal. We started off the meal with fried cauliflower, YUM! It was very flavorful and the perfect way to begin our meal. Next we had our main course. (See pictures below) I am a vegetarian and ordered the mushroom & sunchoke dish. It was one of the best meal that I've ever had out at a resturant. It was prepared to perfection and had a great combination of ingredients. My boyfriend had the Penokean Hills Farm Tri-Tip and loved it. He always gets steak when we go out and said that this too was one of the best meals that had ever had out at a restaurant. We finished off our dinner with dessert. It was delicious!! I got the orchard crumble and my boyfriend got the ice cream sandwiches. These desserts were great. Again, our experience at Marben was one to remember. We will be visiting this restaurant again when we return back to Toronto. Visit Marben!!!
This is our 2nd time for dinner and the food is very good. Combinations work really well together, like the menu changes as well.
Great evening and fabulous food and service. We will be coming back again.
Atmosphere was great it’s cozy and was busy for a Sunday evening. Service was fast and food arrived quickly. The food was prepared very well. Would recommend.
Great Food, strong wine list, IMPECCABLE Service, the best place to eat in Toronto on Sunday's
Felt menu was limited, we were there early but they were out of the eggs and hash.
Overall, good nit excellent.
Amazing tasting food, however small in portion size. Staff was very friendly and the environment lovely.
Reserved a table a week in advance on CC. Upon arrival 8:45 pm table was not ready. Stood at the bar with the group (7 total) until 9:30 pm. Barely had service at the bar - then I asked if we could sit at an available table as our table was still not ready - sat at the table waited 15 minutes for service told waitress we were leaving. Went to Oretta at 10 pm - service/food there was incredible in every way!
Love this place, warm friendly, good ingredients poked well. Best burger in Toronto!
We booked a table for two for Valentine's Day. The decor is very nice, there are some nice booths and the artwork is cool! The food was very good. Unfortunately the experience was dampened by our table. Because it was Valentines day they had squeezed an extra table in right by where the staff clocked in orders. There were servers next to our table all night. We asked for another table but were told the only other option was to sit at the bar. Disappointing as the food and service was very good. They shouldn't have squeezed in an extra table. Other than that, the restaurant seems really nice. Wouldn't go again though as they were more concerned with squeezing in extra tables than creating a nice experience for the customers.
Really liked the food. Good presentation of food.
Had brunch there today and thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was really tasty and the server was super friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be going back and will recommend it to friends.
Delicious food and the service was good. Would recommend!
We were a group of 8 for a Bachelorette dinner on the weekend. Not only was the Staff amazing and accommodating, I'm talking about you-Addison and Sean, but the food was AMAZING! the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, classy and inviting. Since we were a group we opted for the family style offerings, what a great idea!!! and their fried cauliflower... It was so good we ordered a second one.
I would 100% recommend Marben as a must try!!!
A comfortable 3-1/2 star type restaurant that delivers 5 star results ! Ambiance , service and the food all exceed expectations .
My third time here - good for small or large groups or just as a couple
The food was ok, there is no much service . The waitress just hand me the coat from upstairs. That was my birthday brunch.
Not only were the staff incredible, the food was perfect and the cocktails were excellent. Everyone needs to eat here!
Phenomenal brunch. Hands down one of the best in the city!
We went for the new years set menu. The food was absolutely amazing. The lamb with the crusty skin was very flavorful. The staff was also extremely courteous. We had a table of 8 and two people were about 45 minutes late but no one ever came to pressure us to start without them or reminded us of our time limit (on new years).
Wonderful meal, great ambience, excellent service!!
Great meal and well presented
Food was overpriced and not very good. Pheasant and lamb was ordered. Ambience is great. More for business type atmosphere.
As always, Marben over delivers. Whether I bring a friend, or a group, the jovial atmosphere and great food prevail. I love this restaurant!
Second time I have been to the Marben. And they continue to impress me. I will continue to come back. Definitely one of my favourite spots in Toronto .
Thank you, guys!
Ordered a rare steak, got well done with no steak knife
