Marathon - 19th & Spruce
We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We bring people together through food, personal connections and artistic spaces.
ginger soy glaze, pickled snow peas and daikon radish, w. bean sprouts and charred scallion salad, rice noodles w. lemongrass broth
Great as always.
Always good, great menu with something for everyone.
As usual, a comfortable place, this time on a stormy night. Great beef brisket comfort food and shrimp risotto.
A lovely evening out of doors with a friend. Breezy and comfortable. Wonderfully friendly server (Tiffini) and the reliably very good food and excellent value that we expect at Marathon.
Never brought one of my orders. Took an unreasonable amount of time to bring out a dessert. Otherwise, food delicious as always and lovely waitstaff.
The Food Was Sooooo Delicious & Our Server Sherrill Was So Sweet We’ll Definitely Be Back For Sure
during the covid lockdown when there was no indoor dining, we did some take out from Marathon and unfortunately did not find it up to par. Pre-covid we were very frequent diners. We figured that the constraints of covid with loss of indoor seating, patronage and staff, along with the impact it might of had on their suppliers, resulted in our disappointment. Last night was our first time back since the word has reopened due to vaccine. I am glad to say that the quality of the food was as good as it had been pre-covid. We will be regulars again.
My son and I had dinner at Marathon on 19th and Spruce last evening. My son had matzo ball soup and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the teriyaki salmon and the whole entree was delicious. My son had the capellini and added shrimp. He thought it was rather bland and wished it had more of a sauce. We were too full for dessert. Portion sizes were very satisfactory.
Always good food and reasonable prices. Great neighborhood dining spot.
Food is always fresh and seasonable. Nice selection of wines. Great value!
Have never been disappointed!
Made a reservation for 8:30 and was told at 8:55 that the kitchen closes at 9. We received our appetizers ten minutes after we got our salads. The salads were okay. Staff was loudly cleaning up/clanking dishes and moving furniture around to close the restaurant, so the ambiance wasn’t the best. We felt rushed.
Always terrific. And the menu is wonderful. There’s something for everyone.
Great food, reasonable prices and wonderful and friendly staff - go to place
Excellent crab cakes with tasty dipping sauce. Sweet potato fries were delicious. Prices are very reasonable.
Marathon is a neighborhood gem! Everything on the menu is delicious but not pretentious. We love the cheese-steak wontons! This our neighborhood go-to restaurant when we don't feel like cooking.
Great time. The girls just hanging out.
This was my first time eating at this Marathon and it was a better foodie experience than at others! Very much enjoyed my Marathon Burger with subbed-in sweet-potato fries. Glad that they're doing reservations for indoors and outdoors seating and, from what I saw while waiting for the rest of my party to arrive, doing a great job enforcing the waitlist/honoring the reservations.
The beef brisket was absolutely incredible... I grew up in the Main Line and spent a lot of time in Jewish households, and the brisket here instantly transported me back to my childhood. Bravo!!
We had a very nice Sunday brunch seated outdoors. Food was very good and so was the service. I would recommend it!
Please bring back Moroccan meatballs to the menu
We dined outside under the tent. Soon after we arrived a party 8 millenials and one dog arrived at the table behind us and we were drowned out for the rest of the meal. They were totally unaware that they were in a public space and proceeded to laugh and yell incessantly.
We waited too long for a waiter to take our order and then we waited for almost half an hour until our food came. By then we were extremely annoyed and sorry we waited.
Food was fine.
We celebrated a birthday and it was great!
Very nice table outside. Omelet and salad was delicious.
Great neighborhood place. Reliable. Tasty food and good service.
Neighborhood gem; terrific for comfort food, with more than enough for sharing.
Really cute and well priced place! Food was good, came out quickly, and the staff were all very nice. Would love to come again!
Overall, a good experience.
The menu was very reasonably priced although my entree of a shrimp Caesar salad was the most expensive but was essentially romaine lettuce and four shrimp. Everyone else in the party was happy with their meals (shrimp tacos, blackened chicken sandwich, turkey club).
We went on an exceptionally hot day and unfortunately the windows were open and it was very hot inside the restaurant in the direct sunlight.
I wouldn’t recommend if you are especially concerned about social distancing as a lot of the seating inside is booths that are back to back.
Milkshakes, sandwiches, and good prices were the highlights. I’d recommend going here for a reasonably priced lunch close to Rittenhouse Park.
Our go to restaurant every time. Always reliable. Great service
The service was great - the restaurant was really crowded, but we still got our food in a timely manner. Some people were eating outside, and it was pouring rain, and the servers very kindly asked patrons if they wanted to come inside. Food was great.
Food good as usual. Try it youll like it unless you dont.
Everything was great from the hostess seating us and brought our dog, treats, to our amazing server, and the food!
We had a pleasant outdoor lunch at Marathon. Both of us had the arugula salad with blackened shrimp of which there were many. The arugula was fresh, and both of us were pleased with our choice. Food at Marathon is always good. I highly recommend this restaurant for comfort food.
Really nice weeknight dinner. Reasonable prices, delicious and healthy food, good service. Will definitely return!
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We were seated outside, on Spruce Street, so that’s why it was a bit loud, not no problems hearing each other.
A great selection of food and wine. The crab cake was delicious, and went perfectly with a glass of albariño.
Loved the food but it took a while to come out for a weekday lunch.
Would still come back
Food wasn't great service was worst. Wouldn't waste my time there again.
We had the unfortunate experience of being seated outside, but across from a very loud, very drunk and obnoxious party. Finally asked to be moved, which was very nice of the staff, but the evening was pretty well ruined by then.
This is a wonderful restaurant located in a beautiful spot one block from rittenhouse square. They have outdoor dining with heaters if necessary but when I went it was a beautiful breezy evening. The prices for this restaurant are great for the value. I enjoyed every part of my meal from the appetizers to desert. The vegetarian chili was so flavorful and filling and I’m not even a vegetarian! Their chocolate chip cookie sandwich was also to die for. A great serving size and hot cookie with creamy finally ice cream. The ambience and quality was fantastic for the price and I will definitely be dining here again.
