Marathon has served the neighborhoods of Philadelphia for over 25 years as a family-run restaurant group. We serve well-made American classics, and strive to source the freshest food locally available to us, including from our own Marathon Farm in Brewerytown, Philadelphia. Our favorite farm to table items include our grass-fed Cheesesteak, free-range Turkey Plate, and fluffy Omelettes made with cage-free eggs.

We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We ate there twice in 4 days! Food was great, and it was close by. I had the most delicious burger, cooked to perfection! Both times! One disappointment was the second time, the fries we were served, were definitively the end of the bag. The ENTIRE basket of fries…not one was more than 1/2 to 1 inch long. I should have sent it back…..but WHY would they have served it in the first place???

Food is consistently good here, as well as at their other location a few blocks away. I had a mac and cheese starter then the Jambalaya entree. Overall, it was too much food but I enjoyed it. Service was friendly but spotty. I have to give credit to the manager who checked in and took take my card at the end of the meal.

We go to Marathon regularly and love it for an easy weeknight meal. What upset me this time is that for the first time ever, I saw a dog (not a service dog) allowed in the restaurant. The dog was sitting on the patron’s lap. I didn’t think that non-service dogs were allowed inside, especially up near the table.

We showed up for our 8pm reservation and we’re seated straight away by the nice hostess. We sat for 8 minutes with not one person speaking to us or acknowledging our presence. The table that came in after us was greeted, had drinks and had ordered while we just sat. We ended up getting up and leaving because that kind of service is not acceptable anytime, but especially when the place was nearly empty.

Over the last couple visits to Marathon, things have gotten progressively worse. Yesterday, there was a very large window open while it was low-60s and raining outside, and staff refused to close it. Food got cold. Our server was nice, but he was absent for most of the meal. Food was average at best. We ordered a burger medium well and it was cooked to the point of being leather. There are so many solid choices in the Rittenhouse area, I don’t know if we will be back anytime soon.

We've lived I'm the neighborhood for the past 20 years and Marathon on the Square has always been consistent. One thing we love they DON'T make any longer is the WHOLE WHEAT PANCAKES. They were delicious & healthy. Wish you bring them back...

Usually enjoy dining at Marathon Grill. Not this time. Long wait for our meal. Chicken sandwich and fries were cold. Rewarmed so just ok. Told we would hear from manager. Never happened. So overall disappointing experience.
