Marathon - 19th & Spruce
We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We bring people together through food, personal connections and artistic spaces.
ginger soy glaze, pickled snow peas and daikon radish, w. bean sprouts and charred scallion salad, rice noodles w. lemongrass broth
The beef brisket was absolutely incredible... I grew up in the Main Line and spent a lot of time in Jewish households, and the brisket here instantly transported me back to my childhood. Bravo!!
We had a very nice Sunday brunch seated outdoors. Food was very good and so was the service. I would recommend it!
Please bring back Moroccan meatballs to the menu
We dined outside under the tent. Soon after we arrived a party 8 millenials and one dog arrived at the table behind us and we were drowned out for the rest of the meal. They were totally unaware that they were in a public space and proceeded to laugh and yell incessantly.
We waited too long for a waiter to take our order and then we waited for almost half an hour until our food came. By then we were extremely annoyed and sorry we waited.
Food was fine.
We celebrated a birthday and it was great!
Very nice table outside. Omelet and salad was delicious.
Great neighborhood place. Reliable. Tasty food and good service.
Neighborhood gem; terrific for comfort food, with more than enough for sharing.
Really cute and well priced place! Food was good, came out quickly, and the staff were all very nice. Would love to come again!
Overall, a good experience.
The menu was very reasonably priced although my entree of a shrimp Caesar salad was the most expensive but was essentially romaine lettuce and four shrimp. Everyone else in the party was happy with their meals (shrimp tacos, blackened chicken sandwich, turkey club).
We went on an exceptionally hot day and unfortunately the windows were open and it was very hot inside the restaurant in the direct sunlight.
I wouldn’t recommend if you are especially concerned about social distancing as a lot of the seating inside is booths that are back to back.
Milkshakes, sandwiches, and good prices were the highlights. I’d recommend going here for a reasonably priced lunch close to Rittenhouse Park.
Our go to restaurant every time. Always reliable. Great service
The service was great - the restaurant was really crowded, but we still got our food in a timely manner. Some people were eating outside, and it was pouring rain, and the servers very kindly asked patrons if they wanted to come inside. Food was great.
Food good as usual. Try it youll like it unless you dont.
Everything was great from the hostess seating us and brought our dog, treats, to our amazing server, and the food!
We had a pleasant outdoor lunch at Marathon. Both of us had the arugula salad with blackened shrimp of which there were many. The arugula was fresh, and both of us were pleased with our choice. Food at Marathon is always good. I highly recommend this restaurant for comfort food.
Really nice weeknight dinner. Reasonable prices, delicious and healthy food, good service. Will definitely return!
Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We were seated outside, on Spruce Street, so that’s why it was a bit loud, not no problems hearing each other.
A great selection of food and wine. The crab cake was delicious, and went perfectly with a glass of albariño.
Loved the food but it took a while to come out for a weekday lunch.
Would still come back
Food wasn't great service was worst. Wouldn't waste my time there again.
We had the unfortunate experience of being seated outside, but across from a very loud, very drunk and obnoxious party. Finally asked to be moved, which was very nice of the staff, but the evening was pretty well ruined by then.
This is a wonderful restaurant located in a beautiful spot one block from rittenhouse square. They have outdoor dining with heaters if necessary but when I went it was a beautiful breezy evening. The prices for this restaurant are great for the value. I enjoyed every part of my meal from the appetizers to desert. The vegetarian chili was so flavorful and filling and I’m not even a vegetarian! Their chocolate chip cookie sandwich was also to die for. A great serving size and hot cookie with creamy finally ice cream. The ambience and quality was fantastic for the price and I will definitely be dining here again.
Had to wait 15 minutes before anyone came to our table!
Good service and menu has a lot of options. Friendly people and good neighborhood feel. Will be back!
Very nice restaurant, food was delicious, staff was very professional and pleasant. Outside seating was very busy, but was worth the wait.
Freezing outside so windy
Tried to sit outside on a cold night, but their tables were minimally sheltered so our party of 5 sat inside. Fine for us, but we had to split into two tables. Our server was not particularly engaging (COVID?) but we got what we wanted... no hitches. Marathon's menu has many options, and everyone (including a vegan) were satisfied with their choices. It's not really "fine dining", but it was a big step up from pub/bar food. We used to like their Sansom street restaurant that has been closed for a year after damage from the George Floyd protests last summer. Marathon on the Park seemed more subdued that the Sansom Street spot. We'll be back.
My first time there and it exceeded my expectations!! I had the crispy chicken parm, and let me just say it was hands down the best I've ever had. They were able to accommodate my request as well, which was very nice! Waitress was on top of things, and even had the manager walk around to ask people if everything turned out ok!! I'll definitely be back!!
Such a good location and friendly staff. Always recommend for kids. Diverse menu.
Quality menu items. Even the pickiest person can find a good dish here. Good service and great outdoor seating
Good location. Great atmosphere and good menu for kids. Staff is friendly and is a good place to sit outside as well. Great for takeout
The service was horrendous. Waited 10 minutes for any server to come to our table, cocktails arrived after our meal, and the dinner was truly just mediocre. I was bummed especially after having read a lot of great reviews. I spoke to the manager about it who was apologetic, but it didn’t seem to improve service. The diners next to us ( after we spoke with the manager) waited over 20 minutes for their check. All in all, seems like they are either understaffed or overwhelmed.
We were on a tight time schedule in order to eat dinner and then attend an event. The service was very efficient, food was plentiful and delicious. Marathon is a great restaurant for good quality food and good service.
Food was tasty and almost everything was of very good quality for the price.
The service was great!
Server Paul was on point, came to check on us every time. Food wasn't bad at all, but couscous was dry and crunchy which was supposed to be soft.
I did not see any manager checking on us.
It was a cold rainy day so I went out for comfort food. Excited to have a cheat meal I started with vegan chili and as an entree ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The food was decent, not great, but I had the worst server I’ve had in years. By way of example, when she got my order wrong (no sweet potato fries) and left the table claiming she would go out in the order, she stopped at another table, without embellishment talked to the people at the table for over five minutes, and then finally disappeared. She returns to the table again long after I’ve finished my sandwich (again fair at best) with a steaming hot order of sweet potato fries. By that time I was ready to go. Feeling she might do a better job with that situation in the future if I mentioned it, she started making excuses and asking if I wanted to speak to a manager. If the food was good and I thought I might return one day I would have, but at that point it was just a waste of time. And worse... no apology. Attitude was not great throughout my experience. I would not recommend this place. I left a modest tip out of pity and will not be returning.
Only sometimes it’s a bit loud but it’s always yummy!
Jambalaya was outstanding. The sangria as well. And our server was an absolute delight.
This was a dinner for my
Daughter’s 21 Sr birthday and I just mentioned it was her birthday when I made the reservation and when Marathon ion Spruce went above and beyond. We arrived to a perfect reserved table and a complimentary bottle of champagne. The service was friendly, welcoming and timely. The food was delicious. The specials were fresh and creative. The pricing was not overpriced center fare it was reasonable without giving up quality. Thank you for a great memorable meal and night.
