Marathon - 19th & Spruce
We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We bring people together through food, personal connections and artistic spaces.
Marathon has a chill vibe, tasty food and is in a great part of the city.
Our regular favorite. We love Marathon. Thanks for providing a stable neighborhood restaurant that's full of life and reliably great food and service.
Didn’t like my first entree. Was very bland. The bar tender brought me a menu right away. No questions asked , made some recommendations and brought a dish of fries to hold me until my food arrived!!! Excellent customer service!!!
Our waitress was very nice but the service was a little slow. I wouldn't recommend if you need to do a "quick" lunch. More importantly, the food was excellent!!!
Always a reliable spot with something for everyone at reasonable prices.
Chicken corn soup..delicious
Cheeseburgers prepared as requested
prime pork chop platter, delicious and well presented
It is perfect for a quick couple of appetizers or meal before a show.
Our go-to place
And never disappoints.
Always exceeds expectations.
Delicious food, gracious, friendly and quick service. We had young kids with us and the staff was welcoming and kind.
Good food with nice selection. The children’s menu fit my daughters’ picky palettes. A great place to go after theater!
Great service, great food, always a terrific meal.
We all had a wonderful meal at Marathon at 19th & Spruce (which also seems to called Marathon on the Sqaure)! From salads to sandwiches to specials, everything was extremely tasty and fresh. The dining room is also beautifully-decorated. They turn over tables fast, so it didn't seem to be the place to linger over a leisurely meal. It good for all ages, too- there were a fair number of families during the early evening hour.
Our 6th visit to Marathon. Food is terrific and prices are very reasonable.
Marathon on the Square has great food, just a hop skip off the prettiest park in Philly. It has a varied menu, and full service bar. The only slight issues were the clanging of the pots and pans (as we were seated next to the “open” kitchen access way), and the visual distraction of seeing all the chaos in “the back of the house.”
Always a pleasure to eat at this neighborhood mainstay.
Visited Marathon based on reviews and was not disappointed. My parents came to Philly to visit and I made the reservation here because it was close to where I work, and I’m glad that everything worked out so well! I would heavily recommend the Grilled Salmon, and the Jambalaya and Chicken Parm were both solid choices too.
Always consistently good food and pleasant experience.
I really like the soups at Marathon on the Square. I almost always order the Moroccon salmon salad. Our friends and my husband are more adventurous. So twice recently, one of them ordered a daily special and were disappointed. My husband had the extremely BLAND cheese ravioli with shrimp. Even after adding pepper, Parmesan and vinergar it was flat.
The people who work at M on the S are unfailing polite, helpful and competent.
This past Saturday it was unusually noisy. No idea why.
Great meal! Great drinks! Great service! Great 58me!
great food. fantastic service. super fast and always guaranteed delicious American fare. our new server Brant was wonderful. the vegetable capellini with blackened chicken is one of the best dishes in the city.
This was a perfect place for date night with an amazing menu at great prices. He had the ravioli with shrimp which was a large portion, and I had the turkey burger that came with a side of caesar salad. The burger and bun were a little dry but it was still pretty good. We split the cheesesteak wontons which were the perfect appetizer. All in all, great service and food!
Great neighborhood spot and a varied healthy menu.
Great menu with everything from light fare to entrees. There is something for every palate. Prices are right!!
Good food. Good service. Good prices.
Too many kids and aloof parents, server was way too aggressive and rushed us after telling them we needed time. Not sensitive to the needs of diners.
So loud we could barely have a conversation. Also catering or deliveries taking place during mealtime is chaotic with staff running in and out the door and talking to each other while doing so. It was like a circus. Bad and nerve wracking experience.
One of our favorite places. Good cocktails and beer list - food is always reliably good. I had a special - scallops, spinach, and risotto. Scallops and spinach were good but the risotto was out of this world.
Great salads. Server was pleasant and helpful. Window table is quieter. I have dined there many times and will return and recommend it to friends.
delivers excellent value. Food is reasonable and good.
Everything is delicious. The matzo ball soup is superb.
Very impressed with the variety of food and the lower prices for city dining.
Marathon is our go to for Sunday Family dinners. The staff are delightful. The food is straightforward, delicious and all of my picky eaters have different things they love to get.
We came to this location late, having made a reservation prior on a very busy Sunday morning. Three of our party of 5 needed to get to the airport so we were very grateful that Josh made a point of finding us another table quickly and oversaw our ordering personally. The food was delicious and the service quick. We are local residents and highly recommend this location!
We ate a late lunch early dinner at 3pm. It was quiet. My wife enjoyed her soup and sandwich, my burger was cooked to order but I’ve tasted better. But I will return to this nice eatery.
Always enjoy attentive service, consistent quality of food and drink and great price for a complete meal. Keep up the good work.
I usually go to the Marathon on 16th and Samson because it's closer. I like the Marathon on the Square a lot. It is a bit classier and the food is better. The service definitely is 100% better. There is an ethos of enjoyment rather than turning over tables, which is welcome.
Lively wait staff...3 our id the 4 meals were very good. One was not. Would go again
Food was fine. Nothing exceptional - just ok. Good service and nice atmosphere.
The service was great, prompt and not intrusive. However "energetic" noise level equals "headache from hollering" for me. And if you reserve a table for 2, why would you seat us at a table that was an okay size but had 3 extra chairs crammed around it? The food was okay but my mashed potatoes were gluey amd tje chicken fingers in the appetizer were over cooked.
