Great experience from the food to the service. Cody was an amazing server and made the experience twice as enjoyable. Make sure to ask for Cody when you visit!
Always yummy and interesting food at Marathon! Great go-to place for healthy, delicious and good combinations of flavors and textures.
The staff always greet my wife and me with big smiles although we have temporarily held off on the hugging. The Service is always great and the food is always fresh and tasty.
The entire staff, from the Hostess, the wait staff (Even those other than the one whose waiting on us!), the Expeditor and Managers are extremely friendly! They make our visits enjoyable and we leave with a full stomach and a smile on our faces!
Marathon was very crowded and noisy during the lunch hour. Service was very good and quick with the waitress taking into account our time frame. The turkey club was very good, however, the salad served with it was nothing but I assume we’re a bunch of bagged greens. Overall, ok for a quick lunch.
Always enjoy eating here. Food is great not too pricey great service too!
The restaurant itself is okay--prices for entrees are very reasonable, and good for the money. However our recent party-of-five visit on a Friday evening was most unpleasant due to the unbelievable amount of noise where we were seated (and we did have a reservation). It seems that seated about two booths away from us was a party of five or six moms. They had with them about 8 to 10 girls who appeared to be in the 10 to 12 or so age range. While the moms spent hours conversing, the girls were in the aisle doing versions of cheerleading and yelling and screaming through the glass window at cars going by on Sansom Street. We literally could not even hear our own voices as we tried to talk to one another. It was hopeless even trying to enjoy our evening out together. We understand that noise can be an issue in most restaurants today, but this was beyond the pale. And worst of all, the moms did nothing; they seemed totally oblivious to the extreme racket their young ladies were making. Not even once did we see any attempt on their part to tell the young girls to "keep it down" or, just as importantly, tell them that the aisle was not their personal play ground! The wait staff did nothing either! Finally one of us headed up to the gentleman acting as host. He came back, and from what we could see and hear, had absolutely no effect on what the young girls were doing--the horrible noise and aisle shenanigans continued unabated. Finally, after about an hour and a half of our suffering through our dinner, did the moms and daughters leave. But it was far too late at that point for us to feel that we had a pleasant dinner experience at Marathon Grill at 16th and Sansom! We will not be going back anytime on a weekend!!
I had a rare dinner date with my adult sons. We started with the cheesesteak wontons and the calamari. Both were amazing! My one done had the braised ribs and loved them. He rarely likes sweet potato fries but said they were the best he’d ever had. My other son had the salmon and said it was delicious. I ordered the chicken pot pie special which was reAlly good! And the chocolate lava cake...!!!!!
Good place to eat in center city. Consistently good.
What a fabulous dinner! I had not been to Marathon in a while and was pleasantly surprised at how good our meal was. We enjoyed the jambalaya and BBQ ribs. The server was attentive and mindful of my gluten and soy allergy and offered suggestions for the menu.
Food and service was very good! We were there on a Friday night so it was a bit energetic but expected. It is nice to know of a good place to eat before a show. We will be back!
Food was awesome, especially crab cake. Very broad menu. Customers all ages, all walks of life. Loved it!
Great food and very quick service!
Ready to accept a group at last minute with options for many dietary needs. Good food and large portions.
Great place for a quick dinner or lunch. Service was [prompt and very attentive. Closest thing to a "Diner" in this part of the city.
Great food, prices and ambiance is good.
We had a fantastic time here on New Years Day. 2 of our guests were late to arrive and there was no problem and everyone were so nice. The manager is a funny guy too. Will def be going back.
Food was ok. Waitress was terrible. Food servers great.
I got sick please refund thank you. The service was excellent though. The food just got me sick
Service was attentive and accommodating. Food was well prepared and delicious. Adult and kid friendly. Great spot near lots to explore. We will be back!
Excellent service and great food make for an awesome find for dinner with the family on our trip to Philly. The Cheesesteak wontons are perfectly filled with yummy steak and onions with a wiz dipping sauce that tops it off. The fire roasted salsa is even better than we could’ve imagined. Dinners were well proportioned and super flavorful. The pot pie and bolognese were season with fresh herbs and not drowned in sauce. The special prime pork chop was tender and juicy with just the right amount of seasoning and glaze - I would definitely come back for more. Desserts finished off the night as it started - just great carefully prepared goodness - banana bread pudding was great and not overly sweet. A real good casual place that is perfect for friends and family dinner. We will be back.
Busy place , bathroom and dining area floor were very messy
Service and food outstanding!!
Good food service was very good. Nothing fancy, but definitely worth the visit. We were rushing to a holiday concert, and they were great getting us in and out quickly.
Great place for a quick bite, casual fare and quick service
We arrived and were greeted and seated and waited for a server who appeared about five minutes later with water to announce there was no soup . We commented that we came to the restaurant for soup and the server went and checked and returned with a sample of two soups. We tasted them and told her that we wanted the soup very hot .... so hot that it would be hot to the lips and she returned with cool soup. We sent it back twice and it seemed like baked soup.
When asking about the entrees, the server did not have good things to say about the menu and she did not know if hot food was prepared hot.
Another individual appeared at the table and we asked for the check. No one asked how we were or the food..
Always wanted to go here, and now it has been done. Will not return and suggest if you want hot entrees, do not expect it at this restaurant
This was our second visit to Marathon during Army-Navy Weekend. Our party of 6 all enjoyed great food, terrific service (!), and a bright fun atmosphere. The chicken potpie and scallops were big hits. Dinner salads also were excellent.
One of our favorite restaurants in Center City. The food and service are always very good!
Great family venue but also works for adults. Food is pretty good and all around much better than a diner. Prices are reasonable. We go every year during Army Navy weekend.
We were late because of traffic. I called ahead to let them know. We had tickets for a show, and they were able to accommodate us. We ate fadt, and made it to the show!
Good overall, but my party of 6 was seated in a booth that wasn't suited for 6 people, so it made for a cramped experience.
Seated next to where the flatware rack from the dishwasher was emptied. Not very enjoyable hearing the forks and knives clattering while being placed in their holders. All of that should be done in the back. You’d expect this from a diner with counter service but not here.
Excellent atmosphere, great and attentive staff and the food was AMAZING!!! Home cooked, hot, great selection and had vegetarian options as well. I highly recommend Marathon Grill and will definitely be back!!!!
Marathon always delivers. Food is good and tasty. Service is fast and pleasant. It’s one of our go to spots for a quick nice dinner.
Great experience, would recommend this place
Marathon Grill and Bar was a great place to meet up with old friends and spend time catching up. Good menu with healthy food options served in a low pressure environment. Their booth style seating was perfect for dinner and conversation.
Upscale farm to table diner/comfort food! Would definitely recommend.
Nice experience but we froze at the table by the window. No other tables to change to. So strongly suggest do not take a table near the windows when it is cold.
My experience at Marathon was very good, the reservation was ready on time and the service was great. There were minor issues with the food ordered, but our server was very helpful about getting it fixed as quickly as possible. It's a great place for a reasonably priced meal with and cocktail with plenty of options on the menu. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants a casual experience with quality food to stop in!
Great experience! Great food and service!!
They took a last minute booking for 10 people. The food and service were excellent and the cost low for a restaurant in a convention/tourist area. Best meal for value we have had all week!!
