Different menu from online and they were out of all of their good choices.
We visit our Marathon most every Friday evening. Most of the hostesses who greet and then seat us, know us and are always courteous and friendly. We’ve been served by most of the Wait Staff. They stop briefly to say hello even when they’re not serving our table.
We like the large selection of meals. The ingredients are always fresh and nicely seasoned. The overall experience of great food at reasonable prices; and attentive service in a pleasant environment are what keeps us coming back!
The service was amazing! Our food was good. Our table was close to the kitchen so the dish noise was high.
Got the wrong order, no one did anything about it. Restaurant doesn’t care. Just gotta move the diners through. Lame. Won’t be back.
The food was great, the service was great, the noise level was a little higher than I would have liked. An upgrade to the restrooms would be a welcomed addition for future visits, very tiny and back in a dark corner. All in all a very nice lunch experience and would definitely return.
Our waitress Hannah was awesome! Unfortunately the food was terrible. The pancakes were cold and tough. The cheese steak wontons were spicy and tasteless. Won’t be going back, shame because I use to love coming here.
Fantastic service and friendly management. They no longer offer the veggie burger that is still listed on their online menu, which makes vegetarian options a little less. On the day of our visit, they were also out of the crab cake. The server’s suggestion of the pasta dish with a blush sauce made up for the lack of menu options.
Good food and friendly service.
Always great food and we had a wonderful waiter
Restaurant was a bit dirty. There was a birthday reservation near us that was quite loud. They were sold out of a few main entree options so my 3rd choice ended up tasting subpar. Most likely won’t return
Sat quickly with reservations. Food was okay, very loud inside.
Great place always!
Good food in the right proportions, as Marathon knows how to do. Connor is an excellent server, with the right demeanor in all situations. Price is right, too. Thanks.
Asked for a booth in the reservation and didn’t get it
As usual good food served in ample time for us to make the concert on time.
The food and especially the service were outstanding! Please make sure Mel gets a HUGE Christmas bonus, we miss her at Tony’s! She should get server of the year award!!
Great food! Great service! Highly recommend.
The menu was generic and the food quality was poor. Despite the nice atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel like I was eating cafeteria/dining hall food.
Wonderful. Food alway perfect and delicious
Food was fantastic they were out of brisket but picked something else
The VEGETABLE CAPELLINI was excellent! Our server was very friendly and professional.
This restaurant is so good. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city and if you're ever nearby, I would recommend taking a look.
It was very busy when we got there. Hostess did her best to accommodate us & was lovely. Seems like they had too many reservations booked for the same time. Owner started to create his own list of reservations which was absurd & started to confuse the hostess. Food was good for price point, slightly loud, but the place was filthy.. floor was disgusting..bathrooms were a MESS. very likely won’t be back any time soon.
Service was good but took a long time to get the food which was very good.
Philly marathon weekend
Food was delicious and the service was great!!!!
Our first time back since the pandemic started. Same reliable excellent food, fine service to get us to our concert. Very reasonable. Highly recommended.
Table was dirty when we sat down. Everything else was to be expected.
I had a quiche that came with a bit of salad. It was good-not too buttery. It was good.
My friend had a plain burger. It looked a little too well done to me, but he did not specify how to cook it.
People should order what they like.
Terrible dinner. We booked for outdoor tables, ans had been assured on the phone that there was a covered ans heated dining space. When we arrived there were not tables set up, very few heat laps, none under the tent. We sat freezing outside doe a meal under bright lights and on cold chairs. And spent $300 for a really awful birthday dinner. It was all the worse because I had called several times in advance to make sure it would be heated and covered.
Was great super fast and convenient; our server was very nice
We made a reservation for 8 for a double birthday. When we got there we were seated in the worst location jammed up against a radiator. One of the 8 had to sit at the end of the table with no room constantly being bumped in to by staff delivering food for other customers. We were asked for or drink order after our food was delivered. Not impressed and for sure not worth $400. Most of the meals were room temperature when we got them. For flavor the pasta dished were flavorless and honestly have had better chicken parm at the Olive Garden.
Pretty extensive menu, with reasonable prices. The food was good. The only issue was that it was freezing inside the restaurant. Most patrons kept their coats on.
Food was delicious. Everything we had was really good. Drinks were strong. Service was a little slow but I guess to be expected with the times. Was planning on parking at a garage on sansom but when I got there the street was closed and had to search for a garage. Most garages were full and had to park many blocks away so account for that in time for your reservation.
What I love about Marathon:
- Wide selection of menu items, but not overwhelming. Ranges from sandwiches and salads to entrees and even all-day breakfast items.
- Good food. You have to try the matzoh ball soup; it's just tasty, warm and comforting. I really enjoyed the turkey & grain burger -- the meat had flavor, and the mustard sauce and cheese really enhanced it. Everybody at my table enjoyed their meals, including the Thanksgiving dinner, special chicken pot pie. Desserts were a hit, too.
- Friendly, attentive service.
- Prices are reasonable for what you get.
One criticism: The seating doesn't reflect a pandemic -- it's a bit crowded. But they do have outdoor seating with a tent and heaters (at least they did in early November 2021).
The food is usually consistent. My family orders delivery from m them regularly because it’s so good.
Drinks were great as was the salmon dish. The crab cake was not my favorite, but overall food was good!
Had a delightful time eating outside. It was little cool but they had outdoor heaters.
I understand that restaurants are understaffed right now and experiencing difficulties, but if you don't have the staff to support existing reservations you should not be seating additional guests or else do not accept the reservation. That being said:
When I let the host know that I was there for a reservation he simply pointed me a table and did not actually seat us. That should have been the first tip off that the restaurant was understaffed and couldn't actually accommodate our reservation. After 20 minutes a server finally arrived to take our drink order. He rather aggressively asked "what's your order" like it was an inconvenience. Several members of my party had to repeat their order because it was not written down. The drinks all came out separately instead of together and one of the drinks was incorrect. I let the server know that the drink order was wrong, but never got a new/corrected one.
We didn't see our server for the rest of the evening. The food came out from the kitchen and was "fine" not worth the prices on the menu. Most of the dishes were either undercooked or dry. The server only asked us if he could get us anything as he walked past the table. He never broke a stride to hear our answer which was "yes" but it didn't matter. When the server did return it was with another person to bus the table but we were asked to pass the plates and bus for ourselves.
2 members of our party had to use the restroom which upon entry were found to not have been cleaned.
The bill came as one total amount with a line for tip. I asked for an itemized bill. The server seemed annoyed by the request. The itemized bill showed it was already inclusive of a quite generous tip and I was expected to tip on top of that. A lot of restaurants will include gratuities for parties over 6 (which we were) but then I expect but then i expect that to be stated on the bill and I shouldn't have to request itemized charges to see it. Frankly that's shady.
Great food, great drinks, great ambiance!
