Marathon - 16th & Sansom
Must have been an off night as we needed to eat early to get to a show and was not up to our expectations and other reviews fir the food.
Both my wife and I had a crab salad last night. There were significant amounts of crab chunks. Sadly, the crab was not highly flavorful and the Caesar dressing was not enough and thus the salad though fresh and crunchy, it was a bit bland.
Great experience and we would definitely return! So great to find a place with every type of food imaginable so that everyone in the party can find something they will enjoy- including all day breakfast.
Food was overpriced and service was generally poor, though where our waiter was lacking, others picked up the slack. Wife’s drink came with a bug in it, and then my dinner came with the incorrect side. Waiter clearly didn’t want to be there and it showed from the start. When the check came, I luckily noticed the INCLUDED 20% gratuity. When I questioned the waiter he replied that it wasn’t normal and he wasn’t sure how it got there. Uh huh...sure he didn’t. He was looking for a double tip. Again, overpriced and definitely not a place to take a date or a family for dinner.
Marathon offers a variety of delicious food served by an attentive and kind staff. A great place to catch up with friends, get a drink and snacks before a night out, or have an outing with the family.
6 of us dined here after attend a conference. Food was delicious, drinks well made and service was fast and our server was very attentive!! Prices were so reasonable. Will return!!
The vegetable capellini was delicious. The server was attentive and kind. The restaurant had a cool vibe. It was lively and enjoyable. I will definitely return.
Always a great dinner and the staff is consistently attentive and quick to accommodate.
Overall good value. Restrooms were really dirty /messy.
Love coming to Marathon for really anything! This Friday wasn’t too busy, the service was stellar, we had a really nice and friendly waitress. Food was delicious, looking forward to the next time I come to Marathon :)
Always our go to place! Very enjoyable!
Always enjoyable because of the both the food (which is consistently great) but also the staff who are consistently friendly and attentive! A smile goes a long way to enhance the enjoyment of any meal!
Great menu with lots of choices. Our servers were great and made sure that we'd be able to leave in time for our show.
Good food. Great for kids. Service was attentive. Thank you.
Waiting a long time to get served
This Marathon is always great. The food is delicious, and the servers are terrific.
I suppose that because my wife and I stop by the restaurant every Friday evening, we’ve become friendly and known by much of the staff. Without sounding too corny, it’s like the TV Show, Cheers!
From Izzy, the hostess to Meetra, the expeditor, Renaldo the manager and all the wait staff, we are always greeted with a smile and a helpful attitude! That is a great preamble for a consistently tasty and enjoyable meal.
Delicious food served beautifully at a reasonable price, in a comfortable restaurant.
Food was great - Table was a little crowded, but it still worked out fine!
My wife and I have been eating at the 16th & Sansom location for years! We know many members of the staff from the hostesses and waitresses thru the scheduler and the managers. It makes our dining experience that much more pleasurable!
Wonderful service and delicious food!
Great casual place for business and pleasure. Service was superb and food was great. I found myself a new spot.
Food was great and excellent value. Server was not the best at communication. Kitchen was out of several menu items and server did not make recommendations.
Great place for a quick bite before an early evening commitment. Had our table ready and service was excellent.
Always my go to with my boyfriend. The food is delicious and the drinks are well priced.
It is very casual and in a great location for spending a day in Philly. Specials are always interesting and the is something for everyone on the menu.
Service is also great. The staff has always sheen friendly relatable and easy to communicate with.
We frequent this restaurant almost every Friday evening. The freshness of the food; the great service from all the members of their wait staff (who becomes our server is dependent on where we’re seated); the consistency of both and the friendly reception we receive from Izzy the hostess to the the current manager, Raul and his predecessors Scott, and Cory all contribute to an enjoyable dining experience!
Being in the noise control business, I may be more conscious of the fairly high noise levels. I recognize it’s due to the lively crowd that also frequents this location and the hard reflective surfaces in it. We’ve experienced the same atmosphere at the Spruce and 19th location.
Nice brunch! I’d suggest they make prominent on their OT info that brunch stops at 11. Eggs Benedict were fine, but mimosas were a little off.. too sweet bubbly perhaps? Not sure. Didn’t keep me from trying a second one.. but still. If I have to offer an improvement, there you are! There is room to upgrade mimosa ingredients. Thanks!
The salads we had were excellent. Our server was very nice and attentive. Great location in center city.
Food ok, friendly service, some menu offering not available, inclunding coffee...
There were six of us for dinner. Three of us ordered crab cakes. Ten minutes later, the waiter came to tell us that there were no crab cakes available. Two of us changed the order to shrimp tacos. A few minutes later, the waiter came to tell us that there was only one order of tacos left. So, again, someone had to decide on another entree. The food was excellent! When we got the bill, we were charged for our six entrees AND three orders of crab cakes! We all expected that the manager would come to apologize and perhaps offer us a feee dessert, but no one ever came to our table.
The manager was not very pleasant. I had reservations and requested to be seated in a friends section. Understandably, since there were only 2 of us, we were told that we could not be seated in a booth. Instead we were crammed into a corner next to two men who were not thrilled that we were seated so close to them. There was also a very annoying/pointy plant that was up against my back the whole time. The service was slow and it was hard to get the waitresses attention. Food was okay.
The gluten free options aren’t really gluten free because they fried all the food in the same frier so it gets contaminated
good casual food with variety for the disparate tastes of our group. good service, pleasant atmosphere. Our grilled soy-ginger salmon was excellent, as was the make your own salad. But the fries arrived soggy and not very hot and the appetizer sampler was quite generic.
Food and service are always good at Marathon Grill!
We made a reservation for 7 but ended up needing it for 11, marathon happily accommodated us. Thank you
Good solid casual dining. Seems great for families.
We usually hit Marathon before we're go to the theater. The food is really good but the menu can be limited. Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Limited menu but all done right. I'd recommend the crabcakes or the buffalo chicken sandwich.
Great food, with vegetarian options as well as lots of meat-eater options. The staff is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Nice ambience.
