Maple Leaf Grill Ratings and Reviews
We ate at the Maple Leaf twice while in Banff. I would have given it five stars across the board, based on our dinner there. The bison tenderloin was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. My wife also enjoyed the West Coast Salmon. The ambience is modern, upscale and very Canadian. The service was wonderful — quick and attentive. We returned two days later for brunch. I was greatly anticipating the Eggs Benedict, based on the quality of the food at our dinner and pictures I had seen on Yelp. However, the Eggs Benedict was a complete letdown. The eggs were solid and cold. The muffin was hard and the potatoes were so salty as to be nearly inedible. I have to assume this was an off morning for the kitchen or perhaps it was due to the fact that we came in at the end of brunch time. Needless to say, if we had gone for brunch first, we would not have gone back. However, based on the wonderful dinner experience on our first visit, we will likely give the Maple Leaf another try on a future trip to Banff.
We went to Maple leaf for drinks to see what it looked like. Had a great time at the bar and bar tender was very nice. Came back a few days later for dinner. Was seated in the little dining room off the bar with the fireplace which was great since during our visit it was very cold, minus zero everyday. The service was good and the food was very good. We will be back.
We were disappointed when we arrived approximately 30 minutes ahead of the reservation time thinking we could have a drink before dinner and found the doors to be locked (on a very cold day besides!!). I am thinking it would have been nice to have the fact that this would occur HIGHLIGHTED when one books a reservation at 5:00pm. We had to go elsewhere for 30 minutes in freezing cold temps and once we did get back to the restaurant there was a bit of a rush for seating. The restaurant was quite cold as well - kept our coats on for quite a while. The service moving forward was friendly but not super efficient and we found the prices to be quite high. The food itself was quite good ... will likely NOT return
Amazing is an under statement! We had the buffalo tenderloin and the duck. Everything melted in your mouth. The server was able to provide a great wine pairing and never let our glasses empty. I so recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be going back!
My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Maple Leaf after a day of skiing. We have been to Maple Leaf several times over the years and always find it very good. We made a reservation and were seated right away. the restaurant was not crowded and service was prompt. The salmon was excellent, as always. With a restaurant as good as ML, I have to note a few flaws: the wine by the glass list is narrow and populated mainly by BC wines. Seafood deserves at least one Chablis on the list. Also, my wife ordered a featured cocktail (Rustic Bramble?) but was surprised to receive not a cocktail (e.g., martini or manhattan) but a highball (alcohol plus soda over ice).
My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion. As soon as we entered we were greeted and seated promptly. Food was excellent as we shared a crab dip for starters, and then had the seafood platter for two. Our server was very prompt and knowledgeable and was always available when needed. Although we didn't order any wine the selection is superb! Would definitely go back and recommend Maple Leaf to everyone. Cheers!
Went for a birthday, the server (can't remember his name) was friendly and seemed genuine and was always joking around with us. The food was absolutely amazing (we both had different picks from the locals special menu). A bit pricey but to us it was worth it for the meal. Would definitely go back
We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a memorable evening. We were very happy with our choice, despite an early hiccup the host handled it extremely professionally and it was very appreciated. The food was outstanding and the service was just right. Thank you for a great evening! Can’t wait to go there again next time we’re in Banff.
Worst service we've ever had. You pay a premium to go to the Maple Leaf.
Our server took more than too much time to ask us for our initial drink order. When our drinks were empty before our meals came, she didnt' ask us for refills until the meal was almost over. Because we were with our children, we thought maybe we were getting the cold shoulder. Which is horrible, because the restaurant welcomes children. And our kids were extremely well behaved.
I'm not impressed. We always like to spend money on good food and ambiance. I'm so disappointed. We won't be going back, or recommending to friends or family.
We were a group of 6 Bow Valley locals and have been the restaurant many times. It's a favourite of ours. This is the first time we had a server who was quite absent during our dinner. We had to wait approx. 15min before we were greeted at the table and asked to order drinks.
