About
Partake in delicious and unique American cuisine at Maple Ave Restaurant, located in Vienna, Virginia. It features lunch specials throughout the week and brunch on weekends. An emphasis on seasonal, local and fresh ingredients is made to create each dish at Maple Ave Restaurant, and every plate that leaves the kitchen is crafted to be as visually pleasing as it is tasty.
Happy hour specials make it a great spot for after-dinner drinks with coworkers. Dessert at Maple Ave Restaurant is a real treat, with dishes such as a blueberry cheesecake, creme brûlée, fried apple pie and brownie bread pudding.
Crowd pleasing dishes like gnocchi and scallops prepared expertly. The space is microscopic but the flavors were amazing.
The entire meal was fantistic. Ending it with the yuzu creme Brule was divine
Ever been to a place where you want everything on the menu? This is that kind of place. You tend to forget its there, but it is perfect for taking a group, as I did when my family was in town for the holidays, or a business lunch. Just plan ahead, because it is super small and you don't want to be disappointed.
Short, thoughtful menu and wine list. Great staff. Food is off the charts.
I knew I wanted to go to Vienna for my birthday lunch because of their string of independent restaurants along Maple Avenue. I glanced at the menu online and figured this would be a winner for either lunch or happy hour. Didn't know what the place looked like until we arrived. Parking around back is extra tight but achievable. Space is intimate but open, with glass walls on three sides of dining room that must have no more than 15 tables (if that). Place looks like a former Tastee Freeze. Ironically we were greeted and waited upon by a former neighbor (can't guarantee that for anyone else) and her service was perfectly sublime (as I'm sure it'll be for you if you're lucky enough to get her). Food was great--pear salad, mushroom risotto, scallops, bread pudding--and the drinks were great, especially the white sangria made with moonshine. only thing that could have been improved upon was if there'd been a decoration or two (it was Christmas Eve) and music, which was delivered after we inquired about it. Big thumbs up, I look forward to catching that happy hour as the small plates look real good.
Fantastic food, a very creative chef, appreciated the food very much. Friendly service.
Went to Maple Avenue after having dined in 3, 2 and 1 star Michelin restaurants. The presentation in this place is equal to David Toutain in Paris (1 star) and the food is equal to any one star. Highly recommend!
The menu is imaginative and the food well prepared. We would go back, but probably for small plates or dessert, and a glass of wine, at an off hour as the restaurant is very small (making it hard to get a reservation at dinner time even on a weeknight) and is very close to the Maple Avenue traffic. The size of the restaurant is probably why the prices seem just a tad high. The choice of entrees is very limited, but there are quite a few small plates. The place feels fairly private considering the location and large front windows. The portions are adequate. Our server was terrific.
Though not much to look at on the outside, what is amazing is the food. Absolutely incredible!
We really enjoyed our breakfast at Maple Avenue. The food was delicious and the presentation was also nice. The tasting for breakfast was perfect, we were able to try so many dishes and had so many different flavors, my taste buds were happy.
I would say the restaurant needs a face lift, I love the idea of a small nook in Vienna, but it really could use a new look, it does not complement the food.
Service was great and while I thought I might not have enough to eat, I was very mistaken. More than enough! Thank You.!!
Really good food, weather you choose a bunch of the small plates to share or go for a main. You really can't go wrong. My table (lunch) chose to do the combo of everyone choosing a side or dessert to share and a main. Best way to taste more of a good thing. The small plate okra is really surprising, in a good way. The bread pudding was firm and filled with warm melting chocolate. Enjoy!
What a great little hideaway restaurant. The food and service was better than 5 stars! It's a must go!
The terrific hostess and server, Roxanne, was perfectly attentive, and our party of six enjoyed the food (mainly whole bronzini, with one duck confit and one scallops) -- but the small, rickety dining room itself made us think, "this must have been a Dairy Queen years ago."
Maple Ave has become our go-to spot for a night out. The service is fantastic - the staff members are friendly and professional. The food is always perfect - we've tried almost everything on the menu and have never once been disappointed. The building isn't much, but give Maple Ave a chance. It's truly incredible.
Good food with some interesting flavor combinations- I never heard of basil ice cream being added to a hot meal before! I had the risotto, cooked perfectly and very fresh tasting. Dessert was the chocolate cake, of course. Natural made-with-sugar gingerale was a spicy compliment to the meal.
The place is rather dark though, not much for ambiance. Reminds me of a small grey mockingbird- not much to look at but with a glorious talent inside. Parking is a challenge- getting out a greater one!
Three of us each had appetizers, entrees, and desserts. While there was nothing wrong with any of the food, none of it was remarkable. The braised beef cheeks tasted like an ordinary beef stew - comforting, but nothing more. The mushroom risotto was just okay; the scallops were the best entree. The bread pudding was too sweet. The service was friendly.
This is the second time eating here. The first experience was much better.
Brunch tasting menu is amazing and a great value! Their French press coffee is outstanding. We have tried other brunch entrees and they were great too! My favorite brunch place in northern VA.
This restaurant tries to be cute and quaint but to me has failed in this endeavor. The dining space is very small and the tables are slightly crammed together as a result. In addition there is NO waiting area. So if you arrive and your table isn't ready you have to walk back around the restaurant (going outside) to their "bar" area in the back which looks like a renovated porch with some wooden furniture made in shop class. This also results in regular blasts of air from the front door if you're already seated in the dining area. It felt more like eating in a crowded room than a restaurant. The food was also just average. Nothing special. The noise level was loud - not calm or romantic as you'd expect in a smaller place. Even the dishes were unimpressive. They seemed cheap and regular. The wine list was predictively small with nothing unique, and the beer we were served in bottles had gone past its serve by date. The table my party sat at was cracked, which fit the rest of the lackluster feel to the place. All in all, nothing would bring me back to this restaurant in its current form. They should spend some time renovating the place to make it look like an actual restaurant. Maybe then the average food would at least be more tolerable.
Flow was good as was service. Bit small and more casual than expected. Wine list adequate not special. Prices reasonable. Kid friendly. Probably return for lunch as the food was good not the kind of atmosphere for date night
This is a restaurant I've often thought about going to. Well - I just had my first experience there and from the outside, I thought to myself - "Is this really the place?".... When I stepped inside I had to ask - "is this the entire restaurant"? Very surprising - based on the quality reviews I've read. My wife and I had brunch. I can honestly say - that the Ricotta/Almond pancakes were possibly the best pancakes I've ever had - and I loved the crispness/crunchy exterior. My wife's omellette made with truffle oil was also a winner. I would love to come back for dinner the next time I'm in the area. Well done.
We were very pleased with our dinner at Maple Avenue Restaurant, superb food quality and very good service. A small restaurant with limited seating, only a few tables in the place, but definitely worth the visit. We will definitely be back. The beef cheeks were fabulous.
I LOVE this place but it's super small so the noise level can be deafening. I try to get there early to try to miss the crowd.
With a creative menu and excellent execution, Maple Ave is a wonderful little place to eat. I came here for an anniversary dinner with my partner and we were very pleased with our meal from start to finish.
Food: decent, but mainly unimaginative, contrasted with some questionable combinations. The portions were less than ideal and the unrestricted menu was still rather limited. Very poor value at this price point.
Service: generally pleasant, but not very attentive and certainly not gracious. I was made to feel obnoxious for correcting the server when she placed the wrong dish in front of me.
Ambiance: badly in need of remodeling and refinement.
Delicious food; Creative Menu, but extremely tight space!
Food was excellent. Small number of items on the menu but good options. Noise level from the kitchen dish washing machine was distracting.
The food is creative and delicious. Service was good. This very small restaurant has some very cramped tables for two with views of the kitchen door. Despite a reservation that was where we were seated until I objected and we were moved to a roomier table w/o the bad view. We ordered the brunch set memo for two, which was a great value.
Found this place on Yelp, and I'm so glad I went. Took my fiance there for his bday dinner, and the food was excellent. The scallops with cocunut risotto and basil icecream in the middle is to die for. I would have never imagined icecream in a dish to be so delicious, but it just melts right in and was one of the most tastiest dishes I have ever had.
What a delightful place. This food is creative and delicious. Monday nights are special menu nights
The menu was eclectic and the food prepared with great care and ingenuity. Highly recommend for a smart, adventurous, moderately priced surprise. The scallops, shrimp, pureed soup, mushroom risotto and chocolate bread pudding were excellent, and the french press coffee an unexpected treat, as well. Don't judge a book by its cover. This one is well worth a try.
Interesting, delicious, and creative presentations of food. The bronzino, scallops, and mussels were wonderful. The service was most attentive.
Maple Ave is small but the cuisine is impeccable and so is the service. We frequent it regularly and highly recommend it to everyone!
The restaurant is very small, so reservations are recommended. The food was excellent. The small plates are generous. I will certainly return.
This was my first dining experience at Maple Avenue Restaurant and an awesome experience it was. Don't be put off by the exterior appearance (sorta 50's Dairy Queen look). The two plates for $21 is a bargain. Small plate and main course or main course and dessert. My husband and I both had the tiger shrimp and grits with blueberry venison sausage and okra. We both agreed we could eat this dish every day of the week. My husband had the scallops and risotto with basil ice cream. I decided to indulge in carbohydrate decadence with the grilled pimento cheese, duck confit, and truffle mayonnaise sandwich. Extraordinary flavors. The side of pommes frites stayed crisp until I finished the last one. Our server was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and non-obtrusive. We will definitely revisit Maple Avenue again and again. Very nice selection of wines and beers. Highly recommended. Since the restaurant is very small reservations are a must.
Maple Ave Restaurant is a great find for chef inspired comfort food at reasonable rates. Don't let the unpreposessing building and its location on a busy street fool you. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere very intimate -- it is tiny! Look for the lunch special!
We have never had a bad food experience at Maple Avenue. This past visit did not disappoint as we shared a collection of small plates and one large plate. Usually we have room for the awesome desserts but this time we were too filled up. Looking forward to our next visit.
Love the food and services, but the dining area is a bit crowded. I wish they at least have white table cloth and play music in the back ground. The dinner area is not cozy. The deco was so bland and cold. Maybe they don't want you to feel too comfortable so you won't linger after lunch/dinner?
Food is outstanding. Do not miss scallops with coconut risotto.
Dishes are delicious! Service was very good. There's really not much to look at outside given the location... wish it had better views especially with all the windows which made the space to seem bigger and not feel claustrophobic.
Looks like the building was a donut shop at one time, but food is elegant and exceptional. Even their chicken sandwich makes you roll your eyes with pleasure. A very small dining room which makes the selection of food, wine and cocktails really amazing. Close quarters so it can be hard to hear your date if there are loud people next to you, but so what. I've now been there twice at lunch time with a party of 4 each time and every person has absolutely loved their meal and cocktails. The service is as good as you would find at a larger, fancier restaurant. I would suggest reservations due to the limited seating and they really do reserve your table. I would love to try Maple Ave at dinner because I think the nighttime vibe could be really interesting there.
This restaurant is our favorite in all of the DC/NoVA area. The building itself can be misleading as it's small (intimate) and isn't particularly flashy. The food, however, is AMAZING. We love coming back time and again for our favorites - and for new additions/changes to the menu (seasonally). If you haven't been here yet, you MUST go!! (Also- if you have a foodie you'd like to impress… this is the place to go.)
