Maple and Pine
Super cute location, incredibly friendly staff! Thanks for making my birthday brunch a delight!
Simply overrated. I had Ceasar salad. It was very salty and super weird since they put literally half of the cabbage in front of me with two pieces of fried crab. I wouldn't recommend for a great culinary experience BUT service is excellent, place is neat and you can have a drink and spend a pleasant night if food is not your primary thing. In my case, I am not ever going to this place again.
From the time that we arrived the service was top notch. We received a wonderful sample of meatballs in mushroom gravy from the Chef. Tony our server, was phenomenal his suggestions were outstanding and he exemplified politeness and a wonderful sense of humor. Highly recommend, the total ambiance was phenomenal from the moment I walked in. Thank you for such an amazing experience.
Tried the tasting menu which was perfect. Blend of ingredients, flavors and textures hit the mark!
My husband and I had the pleasure of spending our Anniversary last Thursday at the Maple and Pine Restaurant. What a wonderful experience! We decided to get recommendations from our waiter for our Anniversary dinner. Tony was spot on with every choice that he recommended for our special dinner. We started with delicious oysters . Tony recommended a honey roasted carrot salad as the next course. It is hard to believe that carrots could make such an amazing dish! What a great chef to combine such flavors! As an entree, we both had duck. It also was delightful with strawberries and rhubarb and ginger spiced polenta. My husband is on a salt restricted diet. Most restaurants we ask not to add salt to his meal and being in the moment of our Anniversary , we forgot to ask to restrict salt. Our meal was perfectly seasoned ! Our experience at Maple and Pine was perfect from appetizer to dessert. We have to thank Tony and the chef for a fantastic Anniversary!
Gayle, Thank you so much for your detailed review, and for choosing us to help you celebrate your anniversary! I'm so glad to hear that Tony took fantastic care of you and that you enjoyed your meal with us. We look forward to you joining us again soon! Best, Laurin Trotman Food and Beverage Supervisor | Maple & Pine
Really liked most of the dishes we tried!
The dinner was overall just an okay experience. I didn't know anything about the restaurant before going. My boyfriend who works at a restaurant suggested it as a fancy dinner date. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were immediately seated. I was surprised the restaurant was in the hotel lobby. All night there were people walking through, right by our table, with other food, in workout clothes, with dogs, luggage and everything else you could think of. I was just taken aback by this. While we were seated immediately and water was brought over immediately, we did not see a server for at least 15 minutes. Apparently there was confusion as to who we belonged to, so no one ever came, except the SA who kept the water coming. We ordered a starter, meals and drinks all at the same time because we were pretty hungry. Starter was great, wine was lovely, but I wasn't too keen on my dinner option. I felt it was under seasoned. My companion's dish was quite tasty but I felt portions of his were under seasoned as well. Overall, it was not a disaster but I don't think I will ever go back or recommend anyone to eat there.
Great service, Michael was perfect. The food looks better than it actually was. Everything was over salted. Ambiance is great, food needs to be better.
The good parts of the experience first: the ambience is great. It is a beautiful space. It was for my daughter’s birthday so she was greeted with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine- that is a great detail! Our server Michael was very attentive giving us recommendations when asked on the menu and accommodating our vegetarian family member. The peach burrata salad was excellent. The rest of the food really missed the mark. Granted my family says I’m a food critic, but I think I’m a lover of good food and Richmond has some really good food right now. My halibut was decent and server stated the play in flavors between the green Apple and celery was a great compliment to the fish. But I had no apples. So fish and celery made me feel like I was on a Whole 30 diet not splurging on my daughter’s birthday celebration. And at $34 an entree definitely not a good value! The pork loin, calamari pasta entrees were also lackluster. Carrot appetizer not that appetizing either. All 3 desserts- strawberry rhubarb crumble, chocolate flourLess cake and the lemon blueberry dessert left this sweet tooth wanting something else. I’ll be back for cocktails and ambience but go somewhere else for a celebratory meal!
Wonderful restaurant with innovative menu, exceptional service and wine list! Housed in a beautiful historic building, curated art work decorates the space. Chef is on deck, checking plates before they are served. Staff is well trained and knowledgeable. Halibut was delicious and perfectly cooked!
Beautiful food and service. Wait staff very knowledgeable.
When we first arrived there was no hostess so we stood around waiting awkwardly for about 5 minutes. Our whole party had not arrived yet and so I had to ask should we continue standing
A lovely meal and warm , excellent service .
We will be back for those dumplings ! Excellent .
It was the Sunday night of July 4 th weekend and the restaurant was calm and quiet ......and romantic . I can imagine it could get noisy with the beautiful high ceilings but we were very fortunate and enjoyed ourselves very much !
Everything was fine but the upstairs bar did not have Bud light or Chardonay (really)
The appetizers we ordered were heavily salted. I requested light salt for my next course as did my friend.it again arrived overly salted and almost inedible. We were treating out of town guests and did not want to tell management or make a fuss. We may not return again as we were very disappointed.
We chose this restaurant because the chef had prepared food pairings at a recent barrel tasting at Delaplane Cellars. We were not disappointed! The food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding.
I dont just hand out 5 star reviews. Really is that good. Had cocktails at the inside bar. Not even considering the fact that they have a rooftop bar. Creative but not too much so. Finally service where they dont bug you every 5 minutes. First time but will absolutely return.
We had our Anniversary dinner here as we love trying new (new to us) spots. We were greeted with champagne and the menu even said Happy Anniversary! It was a nice touch. The food was a little underwhelming for the price. We ordered some pork/shrimp dumplings and my husband didn’t not like them at all. The broth was a bit dish-watery in his opinion. He enjoyed his pork tenderloin but little else on the plate. I got the salmon which had very little to no seasoning overall it was just ok. We were hoping to be blown away with flavors for the price.
The menu had a variety of dishes, both for appetizer and as an entree, with several you wouldn’t typically find in other places around Richmond. The cocktails were very good and everything we had was exquisite. The staff were all very friendly and familiar with the food they were serving.
They are always so accommodating and the food is always delicious!
There were too many events going on in the dining area. It was very noisy and had trouble conversing with other guests at table. Valet parking was backed up. There needs to be a better system!!
Food was very good and waiter was great.
Ambience and service were fantastic. Food was meh. Steak was overcooked and had to be sent back. Vegetables stuffed with braised short rib were visually appealing , but were heavy and didn't offer much of a contrast to the steak main.
Excellent brunch options. The best french toast & chicken & waffles we ever had!
The food and service were fantastic. The atmosphere is cold and bleak. You're in the middle of a hotel lobby and people are walking by with suitcases up the stairs and to the elevators. They need to build partitions or screens so you don't feel like you're eating in the middle of a mall food court.
Beautiful location for brunch in downtown Richmond... great Bloody Mary and the mimosa drinkers enjoyed their selections, too. We tried numerous menu items from biscuits/gravy to house made hash to chicken/waffles to simple grilled chicken Caesar salad — all were excellent. Nice vibe in the renovated space — we’ll be back!
Gorgeous space, great service, mediocre food. The best thing were the carrots and cumin yogurt, but it was a rather odd medley of food--pelmeni with dashi broth, sauteed chicken with gummy favas beans, honey butter and bread, and an overcooked and dry pork loin. There is truly great food to be had in Richmond for a quarter of the price. Would not return.
Surpassed our expectations and made for a delicious birthday dinner! Get the dumplings!
We had a wonderful time at your restaurant. The only thing I forgot to check was whether or not you serve lunch on the weekends, but everyone found a brunch item that they enjoyed, so it really was not a problem. The manager was kind enough to allow our waitress to take us to the top of the restaurant and view Richmond from the rooftop. That was such a special treat for my birthday and our lunch party. Thank you again, and I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Food was fantastic and wait staff were very courteous and professional
Beautiful restaurant and decor. Enjoyed rooftop bar, was amazing views, service and ambiance.
Had a great experience with my group of friends! Combined between the 4 of us, we had various complicated food allergies and intolerances. Our waiter, Will, was able to accommodate all of us by checking the ingredients for our meals and making sure we were safe to eat them, as well as making adjustments in our meals as required (not to mention was funny and allowed us to have a great time). He also made some great drink suggestions. The food was delicious and fresh, and the environment was great (as always). I recommend this place for a fun and delicious dinner with a group of friends.
The dining area is very open with high ceilings so there is a higher than expected noise level. The food was very good. The menu was limited to brunch items and some salads. We had the andoulie sausage with a poached egg and potatoes. The hostess and server were personable and attentive.
The food was divine, the staff courteous and attentive, and the setting open and elegant. I can’t wait to go back
Breakfast was a simple buffet .... no better than a free motel .... for $30 each !!!
Nice ambience, good food and fun roof top bar. A unique experience in Richmond.
Awesome brunch experience celebrating my friends birthday! The decor is so fabulous and chic. The ambiance is amazing. Food was tasty and drinks are great. Valet was an added perk as well. Id highly recommend.
Food was all very good. Open space with hotel guests walking through is a little distracting. But overall a great place for dinner before the theater across the street.
Excellent food, attentive service, and fun atmosphere!
We had the restaurant week menu. We were not disappointed, great variety. The food was delicious; compliments to chef David. Only wish the bar had chocolate martinis. Overall experience was wonderful.
Maple and Pine never disappoints! It is our go to for date night. This visit was during restaurant week, so a limited menu, but was still delish! We both started with the warm pea salad... I had Atlantic cod with a lemon reduction... Omigosh. Both were even better than I had hoped. Desserts were amazing. Now that the weather is nice, the rooftop deck is open, perfect for pre or post dinner drinks! Only caution - keep the drink order simple on the roof. Save the specialty cocktail orders for the dining room.
