The curry and bacon fried rice is not to be missed.
I have been here a few times and the more i go to this restaurant, the more frustrated i get about their reservation only policy for table seating. Even when there are tables available.
I made reservations for 6pm and arrived at 5:45pm. I noticed that there were tables that were completely empty, but i was told by the hostess that my only option was to wait 15 min before i got seated since there was also no seating at the bar. She would not seat us earlier than 6pm. I came back at the reserved time (at the persuasion of the person I was with) and those tables were still empty when they finally decided to seat us.
For a fried chicken place - it's very pretentious about seating. At least once you're seated they treat you very nicely. I find the entire process, though, ridiculous and not customer friendly.
Took some out of town friends for Sunday brunch - food was excellent, as always. We were a little surprised by how loud the restaurant was (there was a crying baby at the next table that we could barely hear) but overall it didn't detract from our conversation or experience.
Friendly staff, efficient service, delicious food and a good wine list.
A friend recommended that we go here for supper for the last night of our honeymoon stay in the Seattle area after she saw something on a food channel about Fried Chicken and Whiskey. Whoever makes the ribs is now my best friend. I literally ate some of the bones because the ribs were so delicious and tender I didn't realize that it was happening. The restaurant was out of chicken when we arrived, but we were still able to get a spicy chicken sandwich, and I'd make the drive just for another one with some Whiskey from the Northwest. Everything was ridiculous - including the $10 carrots. Yes, carrots. We are trying to replicate them for supper at home everyday until we are satisfied with our efforts. Incredible.
We were disappointed. And I hate to say that because other reviews raved about the food so we went with confidence- for the price, not worth it. Curry fried rice - soggy. The raw tuna in the poki was soft (bad). Chicken was good but @ $30 for 10 pieces, not THAT good High on hype, short on delivery.
First, the restaurant was freezing. It was a warm-ish summer day, but outside had gotten cold and it was even colder in the restaurant. Everyone in the place was in tank tops and shivering. When we asked to turn the AC down a tad, they said they could not due to the open kitchen. I actually walked back to my office nearby to get a jacket. Second, the food is great but there are no gluten free options except for gluten-free fried chicken which you have to order 24 hours ahead. Makes the choices very limited for those of us who must avoid it. The servers look at you like you have three heads if you ask for something without gluten. I'm a foodie, and I can eat almost anywhere without a problem. They simply don't care. That's unusual for Seattle these days.
Maono never disappoints! This is definitely a Seattle staple for brunch and dinner! 👍🏽👍🏽
We always have a good time when we go to Ma'ono. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. They never disappoint.
Great brunch but not very kid friendly
The meal was delicious. Our waitress was gracious. The host and hostess were rude, however. I'd made reservations on Open Table for 7 PM, then changed them to 6 PM one minute later. The confirmation was sent to my phone. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the hostess told my brother the reservations were for 7 PM and there was nothing they could do. The attitude was "tough luck." I arrived and showed the hostess, then host, my confirmation. Again, the attitude was haughty. No apology. No effort to remedy the situation. The attitude was take the 7 PM reservation or leave it. They acknowledged Open Table was the reservation system on their website. Apparently, they had no record of the time change. A simple sorry would have gone a long way. When I politely but firmly held my ground since my brother and his wife had traveled 3 hours to celebrate his birthday, they gave us the next available table.
Wonderful service! Delicious food...especially the fried chicken!
Lots of fun. We just got a bunch of things and shared them at the whole table. You have to reserve the fried chicken ahead of time and it’s worht it.
Loved this place for brunch but discovered upon arrival today that they've changed the menu. They removed the Benedict and baked oatmeal from the brunch menu. Seriously. A brunch menu without a Benedict & oatmeal. Aside from being the two best items on the menu it just seems really strange to offer a brunch menu without them. What's been added? A spicy chicken sandwich and a couple of other forgettable fare. Overall disappointing.
We've been going to Ma'Ono for several years and were very disappointed today. It was so loud and we didn't get plates for our appetizer after we asked two people for them. Then a couple items weren't brought to us after we asked for them. Very disappointed all around!
Food, service, & prices were great! (Definitely order the fried chicken and side of fries!)
The only negative feedback I have is that it is a loud place and difficult to hear each other when the place is full of people.
Our server, Becky, is not a good fit for Ma'ono. She's not present, doesn't do what she says she will do, e.g. bring warm towels, and is just plain no fun. I'm hopeful that she never serves us again.
On the flip side, David visited our table a few times and is an absolute gem. He cares and took a few moments to share some conversation.
David reflects the Ma'ono brand well, Becky, on the other hand, is an exceptionally poor fit.
always good and will return when in the mood for delicious kimchi and tasty coctails
Poke is always on hit. Saimin was sum-thin. After having the fried chicken on the first occasion, couldn't wait to go back. We went back on one other occasion. They were out of fried chicken. Had the ribs in place. Mild letdown. This time we reserved fried chicken ahead. It came out extremely bready, and the largest piece was undercooked. It's a good amount of food. So we didn't make an issue of it. Cocktails are okay. I like the fried chicken and whiskey concept. Solid beer options. On the service front, waitress Becky, was none too happy to be there that night. Try as we might to not let it affect our meal, it did. We've been there three times now. First was a hit. Second was so-so. Third was subpar. It's safe to say we're going to give it some time before our next visit. Shame. So much promise.
Good food, loud in the room so it was hard to talk.
Always a favorite for our family! Great for just 2, or 10! We love the fried chicken and are always happy with the selection of small plates with east/west flare. The brown seaweed rice and white kimchi were a huge hit this visit.
Decent food but nothing to write home about. Fried rice very ordinary. Companion said the burger was very good. Did not try the fried chicken. Live in the area but have other favorites over this restaurant.
Ma'Ono Fried Chicken and Whiskey delivers. The food was excellent, ambiance was right on point, and the service was like royalty. We ordered both the gluten free fried chicken and the regular fried chicken. Both were very crispy, but not too heavily battered. The crispy coating held up to the sauces without getting soggy. The sauces, both chili and honey mustard, balanced the chicken flavor and clung to the chicken for a perfect bite every time.
I also tried the Saimen. The noodles were perfectly al dente and the broth was flavorful, but not too salty.
We would go back with a large gathering or just a quick lunch. We have so much more to try....
Best for a group of 4-6 people who eat family style to share a chicken, apps and side dishes. It is also very reasonably priced for a group on a per person basis when the food is shared. With 2 people there is so much you will want to try you will leave wishing you could try more things.
We found where the good fried chicken is in Seattle! Excellent food and great atmosphere - we'll definitely be back!
Best fried chicken in Seattle.
Second time here, first time was much better. Second time, the food was so underwhelming and the service was almost non-existent. Server was ambivalent and acted like we were a real inconvenience. Food was cold, pre-ordered chicken was on the small side. Like I said, so underwhelming.
I've been meaning to try this place for a very long time and I finally got the chance! I fell in love with their fried chicken and chili sauce that it came with. Really enjoyed their kimchi as well, since I'm very picky about what kimchi I eat. I will definitely come back in the near future!
So dark we couldn't see our food, or our table mate faces! Music way too loud with bad speakers that vibrate your ears. Food is still unique, but quality seems too have gone down. Poke was just bland. :(
Service was awesome however.
The food was delicious - forget about calories though!
The saipin and the ahi are very nice lighter options. But the chicken is the main attraction and star of course!
The mac n cheese was so-so. Corkage policy was ✔️
This establishment is the best, I mean it's bad don't come here!!! The food is super good and addictive. The staff cares too much about you, it's just too clean for a restaurant and Persia is the best server ever.
The food was amazing as always and they accommodated our large birthday party with ease.
I can't say the visit would have been the same if the magnificent Persia had not been our server. A better server I have never seen. Her vibrance, sociability, and general attitude blew us all away. The food was great, but it wouldn't have been the same without her. Rated 12/10. Better than good.
Did I mention that Persia is the best?
Great happy hour -- excellent food and drink, reasonable prices.
I take friends to Ma'ono when I want to show them West Seattle dining at its best. And, as always, the food and drinks were fantastic.
Great fried chicken and greens, the mac and kimcheese was kind of bland. There are so many other choices of interesting food, we will definitely be going back. It was a little loud so it is not a romantic date place. We didn't get the pie but watched them make it and it looks fantastic!
I thought the fried chicken was solid. I think the chicken could have had less coating and more spice to enhance the flavor. I did enjoy the sweet chili sauce on the side. The kimchi mac and cheese was very good as well. It was a fun spot in West Seattle. I'd go back
Love this place, one of our go-to-spots for brunch
Dear it was salty. All the flavor of chicken was gone.
Been wanting to get over to Ma'ono for years and finally made it - so worth it!
Food was top notch, we had the spam musubi, roasted carrots poke and both kimchi'w to start - all delicious!
The fried chicken was incredible- super crispy and juicy. I am in love with the mustard dipping sauce!
Fantastic and fun staff - thanks to all!!
