Ma'ono Fried Chicken & Whisky Ratings and Reviews
A must stop in West Seattle. The best fried chicken to be found in this foodie city. The bar pours a gracious glass and service is consistently attentive. Loved the beet salad which looked as pretty as it tasted. My husband also enjoyed the chef's take on a burger, if chicken's not your thing.
Staff was awesome, food was amazing, didnt have to wait too long, they are NOT lying when they say you don't see the bottom of your glass for your mimosa, oh yes...I said MIMOSA and all you can drink for only 14$. So good. Only thing is its super loud (on a sunday for brunch) but that would NEVER keep me away. I am only saying that for date-types.
Absolutely amazing gluten free fried chicken. Every piece was perfectly crisp and moist. The flavors did not disappoint, they were traditional yet so much bolder. The gluten "full" version was a bit on the salty side. Many reviews recommended the curry bacon friend rice but it was disappointing. It was very rich and just seemed to have to much going on, the potential flavors were lost.
Most other dishes can be made gluten free as well. Quite a noise spot though so not the place to go for a quiet dinner.
Ma'ono is the best, I love the brunch menu-the french toast with chicken nuggets (house-made) is the bomb! One of my favorite places for fried chicken for sure. And to top it off, you can order some fine whiskey for when you're feeling fancy and special. Make sure to get reservations for the weekend brunch, so worth it, you don't want to get caught wandering in and realizing its full and all you smell is that fried chicken as you walk back out the door. Thanks Ma'ono! <3
Great food; fried chicken was incredible. The corn dish was fantastic. The curry bacon fried rice was a little salty for my taste - but okay. Pretty good service. Only issue was they accommodated a large group of 12-15 people right next to us so it was a lot louder than normal with that party talking over each other to be heard. Glad they were seated about halfway thru our meal. Besides that noise level it was great.
Went for the Start of Restaurant week and chose to order off the regular menu and my friend ordered the Restaurant Week Special. $33 for 3 courses I had the loco moco and it was delicious, nice beef patty, topped by an egg that was perfectly cook, and there was also a piece of the Portuguese sausage. I missed the brown gravy on the loco moco. On The special had duck wings for the appetizer and that was awesome, the Lomi Lomi Salmon was good but the pudding for dessert had coconut in it and that was not listed on the menu.
We've been coming to Ma'ono for years and always enjoyed our meals, but this particular visit was really disappointing. Everything was overly salty and we waited for over half an hour in between our appetizer and our meal. In fact, we got some of the food sooner because we waved our server down and asked her where our food was. She hurried some of the order over and brought the rest later. Noise level is beyond annoying and made the ridiculously long wait in between courses even worse.
Fantastic as always! Divine Fried Chicken, delicious cocktails and even went for the Okra (which I'd never been a fan of until trying Chef's preparation at Ma'Ono). Our server was even kind enough to bring a slice of their scrumptious Banana Cream Pie with a candle in it, since we were celebrating my husband's big 5-0 with friends. Thanks Ma'Ono!
I have been here a few times and the more i go to this restaurant, the more frustrated i get about their reservation only policy for table seating. Even when there are tables available.
I made reservations for 6pm and arrived at 5:45pm. I noticed that there were tables that were completely empty, but i was told by the hostess that my only option was to wait 15 min before i got seated since there was also no seating at the bar. She would not seat us earlier than 6pm. I came back at the reserved time (at the persuasion of the person I was with) and those tables were still empty when they finally decided to seat us.
For a fried chicken place - it's very pretentious about seating. At least once you're seated they treat you very nicely. I find the entire process, though, ridiculous and not customer friendly.
Took some out of town friends for Sunday brunch - food was excellent, as always. We were a little surprised by how loud the restaurant was (there was a crying baby at the next table that we could barely hear) but overall it didn't detract from our conversation or experience.
