Chicken. Get the half or full. The quarter won’t cut it once you taste it. Perfectly cooked. Great batter with enough spices. Juicy chicken. While fine by itself, the hot mustard dipping sauce is a nice addition. Oh yeah everything else you order will also be great.
Im so glad we ordered the fried chicken in advance cause they were sold out by the time we were seated at 830. My Manhattan cocktail was perfect as was the fried rice (our favorite of everything we ordered). The brussel sprouts we good but not great. Overall we had a wonderful Valentine's day dinner.
We went to one of our favorites, Ma'ono as a Valentine's treat. The fried chicken and poke are both fantastic (order the chicken 24 hours in advance) but sadly this time the chicken was over fried. Despite that it was still very tasty, if just too dry.
The poke, was out of this world delicious, and the cocktails are good, although there have been much change in the drinks menu for the last year.
Gluten free fried chicken is outstanding for you're of us who can not easy the regular fare any longer, and the staff is helpful in knowing what else on the menu can be made gf.
This was my fourth or fifth time to this restaurant, although it’s probably been over a year since I was there last. I’ve always loved it. While the service was excellent, the menu had shrunk and the food although tasty, was not as good as it once was. The “new” burger, was a wet messy burger and quickly became a knife and fork burger. The meal was highly salted. Missing on the menu were some amazing sides including the carrots. It was very loud in the restaurant and it was tough to hear my table mate. Wishing the previous menu would come back....
Terrific place for any occasion! It was my wife's birthday, and I'm not sure if the front desk let the wait staff know that, but beyond that, the food was great, the wait staff very attentive, and the whisky list at this place is unbelievable. A gem of Seattle!
I saw this restaurant on tv and the chicken looked so good, along with other food items. It was my husbands birthday, so 7 of us decided to try this restaurant because my husband LOVES chicken. I had reservations and we were seated right away, which was nice. We ordered 1 whole chicken and a half of a chicken. I thought the chicken was VERY expensive... $49 for 15 pieces of chicken! Wow!! We ordered several of the side dishes too. The beet salad was SO GOOD! We really enjoyed the Mac & cheese, Loco Moco was the bomb, the broccoli was great and the curry bacon rice. However; none of our party was really thrilled with the fried chicken. The chicken was VERY crispy, but the meat was a bit dry. We did really enjoy all the flavors in the side items. The one thing that was not pleasant at all, is how loud it was in the restaurant. We could not hardly hear ourselves talk and it was hard to communicate with the waiter. I tried it (a new restaurant), but not sure I would make another reservation.
Just keeps getting better. Ma'Ono is so on its game. This is hands down the best restaurant in West Seattle and the food rivals anything downtown. While the menu isn't huge, they do everything right. We shared the beet salad, Poke, curried rice, fried chicken, washed down with beautiful IPA's (and did I mention superb cocktails to begin?) I'd recommend a reservation if you don't want to wait (at least on weekends, when we usually go. And our server ("Tyler") was simply the best, unhurried, unpretentious, yet totally professional. Another homerun by Ma'Ono.
LOVED the food, very fun spot. BUT we had a friend with us who is older and doesn't hear well - just FYI this is a very loud restaurant. I wouldn't recommend it for folks who have a hard time hearing, especially in crowded situations. Still, it's an awesome spot!!
I love the Fatty Saimin even though they have changed the ingredients a bit. I miss the chunks of pulled pork and bacon, instead it's now a thick slice of pork belly. Still yummy and you can't beat the bottomless mimosas. Definitely a favorite spot for brunch. Ultra loud though, not the place for super intimate conversations.
Strange. Called restaurant for reservations @6, nothing available. Open Table accepted our reservation @6. They open at 5pm. We’re out of ribs, only had chicken. Didn’t care... we have chicken and whisky. Chicken was dry, maybe leftover from last night? Loved the place before this
As always Ma'Ono did not disappoint my palate. The curry bacon fried rice and tostadas sent an explosion of flavor coursing through my taste buds and left a comforting warm feeling in my stomach. I would recommend both dishes as your first, mid, or last meal. But really, the food was nothing compared to the service we received. We were lucky enough to have the very attentive and friendly Persia as our server. She didn't once miss an opportunity to fill my bottomless mimosa or coffee. My dining partner for the day and I both had allergies we needed to take into account. She can't eat gluten, and I must avoid dairy. Neither of these seemed to be an issue for any of the staff involved in the process of our food consumption. The order was flawlessly passed from our mouths, to Persias ears - From Persias mouth to the cooks ears - and finally from there to our food. We received our dishes shortly after order, and they were cooked to perfection. No complaints could be found - and I can generally complain about anything.
10/10 would go again. When you go, make sure to request to sit in Persias section - you will not be disappointed by the decision. Just remember to bring a great attitude and an empty stomach. Oh and tip big, keep your servers happy :D
We were a big table for Sunday brunch. The restaurant was busy, and our orders were delayed by about 20 min. While our server tried to help make it better with some taro chips, she was not super attentive with refills or helping to ease the uncomfortable weight. It was just an overall not awesome experience. It seems like it's just been getting busier and louder every time we go, and the food is not quite as good as it used to be.
Food was good. Service was lacking. The waiter brought our appetizers out at the same time as our main dishes. Instead of apologizing he brushed it off saying that's how it's done?! He also forgot one of our side dishes and seemed to rush us out the door at the end of the meal.
