Ma'ono Fried Chicken & Whisky
Everything was great except the noise level. We actually had to shout in order to communicate. Phones ringing, musics way to loud. They also didn’t box up the salad that was left. That was a strong highlight of the evening be sure to get the apple turnip salad and the sweet potato !
We love this place! The price is fair for the quality, and the food is really great! It's a good idea to make a reservation, and also to reserve some fried chicken because from time to time they run out. They make good cocktails also. There's nothing not to love.
Visited due to the numerous positive reviews and great pics. In person, dishes looked tantalizing, presentation was good, but flavors just weren’t to my liking. The fried chicken was okay, the chicken sandwich was better, the macaroni I didn’t care for and the rolls that I was envisioning would be the real deal delectable Hawaiian roles, seemed steamed or microwaved or something. Not pleasant, texture was completely weird.
Always a great place to dine!
Ordered the whole chicken, definitely worth it! Also ordered the loco moco which was also delish..soo good we will be back again.
This place is a gem. The food is always delicious and the service is consistently attentive and helpful without being a overbearing. Whenever my Uncle comes to town he always wants to take us out to Ma'Ono!
We’ve had bad customer service in the past but decided to give Ma’Ono another chance. Sadly the customer service got worse and that probably was the last time we will go there. Our waiter kept rushing us to take our order and kept asking if we wanted another drink even though we weren’t even halfway through our beers, multiple times. The restaurant wasn’t busy so to me it didn’t make sense. I hope something changes for future Ma’Ono visitors.
The food was pretty good. Crispy fried chicken, without being oily. Appetizer was tasty, and so was the fried rice and bok choy. If you have a party of 4, which is not unusual, a bread order at $5.50 comes with only 3 to an order!? The banana cream pie was super yummy.
But, overall a lousy experience. The noise level is unbearable, and I mean stadium loud. Forget about having a conversation, you will be yelling across the table. The service, disappointing. Our main course came out before our entrees. We asked about the missed appetizer. Our server explained it was on it's way. When we asked why it was being served after the main course, he said "that's the way it's done here". That's a restaurant first--Call it an appetizer, but serve it after the entrée and sides have come out. Hmm....
The fact you can't hear your conversations made the whole experience a joke. Invest in some sound deadening material, because the food is good...albeit the service a little confused.
Booths are held for more than 3 people
just a little dark to see. just a little loud to hear your party clearly. hardly a problem that would keep me away when I need some loco moco.
We'd been wanting to go to Ma'ono for a long time. We felt it was highly overrated and while our meal wasn't bad - it did not live up to the hype of this place.
I love this place! The chicken if of course fabulous, and the sides are always creative and tasty. The sweet potatoes were yummy! And I never skip the Banana Cream Pie!
Everything here is delicious!
For my moms birthday. We had a great time
The food was amazing. Loved the fried chicken and the whiskey menu is solid.
We get cravings for the chicken, scratch cocktails, and great staff. It is noisy, so don't expect to have an intimate conversation.
Online the menu states that they offer bottomless mimosas for $14 which was a big factor in selecting Ma’ono for brunch. However, when we arrived we found out that they stopped that service the weekend before. Not a big deal but the menu online and on OpenTable should probably be updated to reflect current menus.
There were seven of us dining, some had a delicious meal and some did not. I had the bayaette Steak, medium and it was raw. My daughter had the hamburger and all it was was a burger patty and what was supposed to be grilled onions. Chicken was good and the chicken sandwich and spicy chicken sandwich was good. The pork belly fish noodle soup was great and the kimchi Mac and cheese was great. Stick with the chicken dishes and I don’t think you can go wrong.
Great food and service!
Very noisy. I was hoarse by the end of the evening (a Thursday 7:00-9:00pm) having spent two hours talking loudly to my friend just across the table. The service was friendly and efficient. I knew what to expect food-wise but the menu that evening was not as interesting as what I'd seen online. The waiter says it changes regularly so perhaps another night would have been more appealing. And clearly this is a subjective thing. What I ordered was good, not amazing. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. If it hadn't been so noisy, I would give it another try. Perhaps I'll try again at a less busy time.
I went for brunch. he service was excellent. I ordered the corn beef hash which was very very dry and disappointing. I have had many wonderful meals here so hopefully this was a blip.
The food was delicious, the waiter was friendly and personable, but lacked a bit in the overall service. Had to remind him for a couple of items more than once, and he could have checked on us and refilled our drinks a few more times.
Vegetable dishes and musubi were decent but over-salted. Fried chicken very mediocre and overcooked/dry. Chicken sandwich way over-salted and disappointingly small. Chocolate desert was excellent, as was the service.
A lovely Valentine’s Day evening with my spouse was made perfect by the spicy and elegant affair from the responsive chefs and personable wait staff. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
It was Valentines dinner. We were early seating. Felt rushed. Server had us in and out in an hour including drinks. Felt like they were anxious to turn the table.
Love this place for the great food & service! My one and only minor comment is that the lightening gets a little dim for my 40’something eyes at times 😁
Food was great. Chicken was the highlight. A little expensive, but servings were large.
Pros: The service was great and the fried chicken was really tasty! I'd also recommend the spam musubi and the kimchi.
Cons: The mac & kimcheese was pretty bland, which was disappointing because it sounded like a fun combo. It was also really loud (more "obnoxious" than "energetic") and pretty expensive for what it is.
If you're really enthusiastic about fried chicken, I might recommend this place, but with a caveat about the price and noise level. I probably won't be going back, though.
We had a fabulous meal here. The fried chicken really was all that, and I was raised in the South. And the sides were lip smacking good. It's a limited menu, so if you don't want fried chicken or Hawaiian fare, this is not your jam. We were dieting, which was less than ideal, but managed to get a belly full by choosing poke and veggies and not eating all the breading. Were I not dieting, I would have loved to try the carmelized onion topping! Service was great, and we ate comfortably in time to get to our show at Arts West. The only complaint I could make is that it was dark and loud. From the outside, I wasn't sure it was open, it was so dark.
Waffles and chicken nuggets with sausage gravy breakfast always a hit! The nuggets are home made, light batter and perfectly spiced meat. The waffles light and fluffy, and the gravy....BOMB! We also love the buttery syrup flavored lightly of coconut. Nicely done!
Love this place, great bottomless mimosas, the fried chicken sandwich is bomb and the staff & service were amazing!!!
The table should come with complimentary ear plugs. It is good food, good drinks, but the room and noise level were uncomfortable and took away from the overall experience.
Took the kids - ages 4, 6 and 8 - and we had a great time. Wonderful meal.
The fried chicken is awesome. I try to come here every time I'm in Seattle, and it never disappoints. The bok choy and the fried rice are great as well!
Great spot! Will recommend to friends.
Persia is awesome and made our anniversary date experience well worth the trek! Thank you Persia!
Always a great place to take people visiting from out of town. I've eaten here three times and have had nothing but excellent experiences start to finish - the wait staff is attentive and thoughtful, the drinks are very good and the food is awesome.
It was awesome. Food was great and service was great.
Ma’ono is always my go-spot in West Seattle when I have out of town / neighborhood guests visiting. The food and drinks are always so good. We are lucky to have a spot like this in our neighborhood!
