Manzanita at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Ratings and Reviews
Foursome visiting from out of town. Service was exceptional. Ambiance was perfect. In town for skiing and friends wanted tips try for the first time. A wonderful experience and they will return. Pastrami sandwich split and turkey sandwich split were perfect in proportion, with side salad, hot tea. I do have to say that I wouldn’t order the pastrami sandwich again. Less pastrami portion, and fatty. Turkey sandwich was good. Lovely environment. Our friends were happy we showed the, this restaurant. We always come back.
Beyond a certain point, in even the best meals, you're paying for service. For individual care and attention, feeling like you're the only person in the places even when the place is buzzing.
We had a fantastic server (Kristin!) and a great sommelier. From the moment we stepped in, from the host to the staff as we departed, we felt cared-for.
And the food! Of course, the food was phenomenal. Delicious, well-portioned, and beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
For Open Table - I originally wanted a 7 PM reservation but there was nothing available until 8 PM. Though suggested, there was no phone number in the reservation area to call restaurant directly and verify the availability of 7 PM to change my reservation time. So, we were anticipating there will be a lot of patrons; however, when we arrived at 8:00 in Manzanita, there was only a few patrons, and lot of empty tables. We could’ve had our dinner earlier, I thought. Why did Open Table show nothing was available at 7PM?
Our dinner experience, the food, the servers, were exceptional!
The restaurant is beautiful, with a nice menu and wine list. The food was well prepared with the exception of far too much salt, which unfortunately ruined the otherwise exceptional main courses.
We stayed in the Village and travelled to and from the restaurant by gondola in the dark. That was a pretty amazing experience, even if the stops midway were a tad unsettling.
I tend to eat out here once a ski trip, so not too often. The last few years I was consistently very impressed. On the plus side, the service on this year's visit was every bit as outstanding as in the past. Alas, I have to say I was a bit disappointed by the food -- it was good, but nowhere as subtle and interesting as it had been in years past. A change in chef maybe?
Quality of food is my main reason for going out, so I have to give it a 3-star rating; last year it'd have been a *solid* "4".
We were the last reservation (21h) and a waitress tried to push us to the bar... The attendant caught that and tried to correct the attitude. Our waiter also recognized us and was very apologetic.... He saved the evening. The food was good as usual and he even gave the table several deserts to apologize. Things happen, even at the Ritz, but what matters is what you do about it. Thank you!
I’ve eaten here several times before and was really wowed in the past. This time, not so much. One-note, overwhelming flavors, too salty. A lighter hand would make the ingredients shine—top quality ingredients don’t need to be buried in salt/sauces. Had lunch and dinner here during my stay at the Ritz-Carlton—quite expensive for decent, but not amazing food. A bit disappointing considering what the restaurant used to produce. Hoping it bounce soon back as the space is so pretty
The dood was tasty and entrees were paired creatively with sides. The mix of flavors worked well together. The server was attentive and provided a dessert on the house once she found out it was our 20th wedding anniversary. The Mountain View dessert was fantastic and had us wanting more hours later.
Best server we've ever had at Manzanita (too bad I can't list her name here because I forgot it.) Bartender was helping seat us, and was a little inappropriate in his crankiness, for which this unnamed wonderful server apologized appropriately. Consistently the best food, prepared perfectly, at this spot I love. I always feel like a VIP when I hand my car over to the guys who park it, and then get treated so well.
Wonderfully attentive service which saved the occasion. Food was skimpy in amount and featured weird combinations - ? pork belly with scallops, ? shredded crab mixed into hash browns. The affogato dessert was served on a dinner plate which prevented the shot of espresso from being poured over the scoop of ice cream!
Manzanita is our go-to place for special occasions! The bar experience was so enjoyable with Mike and Sage - they made us feel at home and created the best Cosmopolitan I've ever had!!
Our meal was incredible - sea scallops and halibut - cooked perfectly, blending flavors that awakened our taste buds and ceased all conversation!
Manzanita restaurant is a jewel in the Ritz crown. This Tahoe/Truckee resort is an upscale, down-to-earth mix of elegance and mountain living. It's perfect for travelers and locals alike!
The photo shows us at the bar with Bob in his new birthday hat!!
Our first night staying at the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe we decided to eat here. It was honestly terrible, each dish we had was so overpowered by truffles. I barely ate half of my chicken pot pie and left there hungry. We are not opposed to spending money on good food.. however this was terrible food and expensive. Would not recommended this place.
We eat here often when in Tahoe each Fall. It's off-season, so the place is usually empty for lunch, but we enjoy the food and service anytime. The room is high end, not a diner/bar. While it is a sort of Italian leaning kitchen, there is something for everyone. We usually get a starter and a pizza. Over the years, they have ranged from fabulous to just so-so. Today ours was undercooked and a bit soggy, but we chalk it up to the time of year I guess.
Still, it is a really nice venue and we always enjoy the experience! Our waiter was attentive and generally a blast to have "with us"!
We were disappointed by the food after being told great things about the restaurant. The signature chicken pot pie was overwhelmed by a strong dried garlic flavor. I specifically requested that my streak by prepared medium rare, but not raw. The steak and the sauce were cold and the meat was very undercooked. The wine list is huge, but way overpriced. Lastly, a newly presented cooked pear dessert tasted just like pears from a jar, the pears were not soft and the desert was served in a glass that made it difficult to eat. On the upside our server was very attentive. Despite being at the top of a spectacular mountain the view from the restaurant is a pool area and a uninteresting patio, so don't go thinking you will have a view.
Great food, though small selection on lunch menu. Ambiance is really nice, upscale yet totally laid back modern Tahoe-style. Would have appreciated the server coming by more often to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Overall, would recommend for a nice outing for friends or dates.
The four of us were celebrating birthdays. Nothing beats the ambiance of this Ritz. The service was excellent without feeling they were breathing down our necks. The pace was perfect for a nice relaxing evening with friends. For a special occasion this is the place!
This is a review for Sunday buffet champagne brunch. The buffet had many choices. Seafood, salads, charchuterie, soup, veggies, breads, meat and potatoes. Hand carved Prime rib, seared scallops and grilled shrimp were also offered. Breakfast eggs, potatoes and bacon/ sausage were included. The server offers to have waffles, pancakes or eggs Benedict ordered for you. All included in $69 price. Champagne and Bloody Mary station is set up as a self serve station. At the station are many juices to add to champagne for a mimosa. Orange, pear, berry, grapefruit and more.
I'll start by providing the staff appropriate kudos for their customer service. I found everyone genuinely interested in my experience.
To illustrate, when I expressed minor disappointment that the waffle bar didn't offer fresh whipped cream for the waffles, one staff emerged moments later with a small bowl of whipped cream for me. How cool was that?! When leaving, my server asked if she should get a to-go cup for my coffee. Minutes later, when leaving the restaurant with my to-go coffee, the restaurant manager invited me to stop by for a refill when I caught my ride later that morning. Zach, an equally service-oriented valet, had seamlessly retrieved my coat and added it to my checked luggage when my Uber driver brought it back after realizing I left it in his car.
Bottom line, is the staff are genuinely service oriented. That said, I couldn't leave great scores across the board because of other aspects of the dining experience. The overall food selection and quality weren't quite on par with other Ritz breakfast experiences.
Granted, my other experiences were with the same two flagship properties (Laguna Beach, CA and Maui, HI) so it could be that I am simply using a unfair standard. However, after having experienced the breakfast buffets at those properties, I found this one less compelling.
In sum, I would enjoy dining here if I found myself at this restaurant in the future. By comparison, I have, and will continue to go out of my way to dine at the other properties.
