Amazing service and delicious food
The restaurant was lovely with a beautiful setting. We were initially seated by the bar which was extremely noisy and asked to be seated further away. This was much quieter. The dinner was beautifully presented and was absolutely wonderful. Very tasty. We had a variety of foods including scallops and chicken and appetizers. The desert on the other hand was a disaster and almost ruined the whole dinner. We ordered two desserts and one involving ice cream and chocolate chip cookie which was so stale and hard that you couldn’t even bite into it. The other involved ice cream and brownie and stale popcorn kernel balls with stale marshmallows. The dessert was truly inedible and shocking considering how good the dinner was. Really left us with a unfortunate feeling of dissatisfied overall experience.
$25 for Valet and no validating for dinning!Everywhere else you park for free or 3 bucks in Truckee for Two Hours. Dining room was only 1/3 full. Must not want locals to dine here. We usually dine here 10 times a year. Won’t be back.
While hotel restaurants seem to be hit or miss, you would think a restaurant inside a Ritz would be exceptional. That doesn't seem to be the case here, or the Chicago Ritz, but I digress. While the food was excellent, I would expect something much more for the cost. It was not overly crowded, yet the waiter was pretty slow and the attentiveness of the wait staff was lacking. We had to ask to have our waters filled and there seemed to be only one bus boy clearing tables. Our waiter was actually bussing tables which seemed odd given, again, we're at the Ritz. Overall the interior is nice, it had good food, but we expected a lot more from a restaurant of this supposed caliber. There are other restaurants on the North shore with a much better view and ambiance that is worth the money.
Always a good choice!
The food was excellent as was the service. The meals are very expensive, even for an area that has expensive meals. The wine list extensive, but way overpriced. ( my favorite wine at the local wine shop is $24. Their price a whopping $72!
The building and setting are beautiful. The worst part was the $25 charge for parking just to have dinner. I won’t return, just for that reason.
It was my kids 14th Birthday & they brought a candle on his Truckee Toast, it was a nice touch! Thanks!
As always, the personal service and quality of the meal were superb. However, there is evidently now a practice to charge $25 for parking. To add this on top of a fairly expensive meal seems inappropriate.
Very pleasant dinner spot with good food and very friendly staff. Recommend for anyone staying in area.
Exceptional service and an amazing food and drink menu resulted in a truly memorable experience for a 10-year anniversary.
Manzanita felt like what it is...a breakfast, lunch and dinner house. The food is over priced and a below verage value your money. Be prepared to pay for the bread too.
We chose Manzanita for our anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. We were a little leary at first because of the bad reviews. My wife had the Halibut and she loved it. My Filet was cooked to perfection.
After spending a lot of money on dinner we wanted to go have a cocktail by the fireplace. We were asked to leave because we were not guests of the hotel.
Food is good but not great. At the Ritz I expect more.
This was our second time at the Manzanita and both occasions the staff accommodated my spouses allergy needs. We enjoyed the Manzanita so much the first time we were here seven years ago that this trip we were staying in South lake Tahoe and drove the hour to have our anniversary dinner.
Excellent halibut. We split the cavatelli with dungeness crab and the Lollo Rosso Salad. The dishes were split in the kitchen and served to us as though we had ordered each item individually - a very nice touch. The dungeness crab in the cavatelli dish was o.k., but a little dry. The blue cheese in the Lollo Rosso salad made the dish. Wine pours were very generous. I love the doughnuts stuffed with espresso cream for dessert. Our waitress was very attentive and suggested compatible wines for each course. Riding the Highlands Gondola to the restaurant and seeing the beautiful Martis Valley as you ascend is a great way to begin and end the meal.
We were seated in the back room and I think in the future we prefer the main seating area since it has better ambience.
We love this spot! The waiters are personable and professional. They address you by name and make sure you are 100 percent satisfied. We have never had a bad meal. The presentation of each dish is beautiful!
Foursome visiting from out of town. Service was exceptional. Ambiance was perfect. In town for skiing and friends wanted to try for the first time. A wonderful experience and they will return. Pastrami sandwich split and turkey sandwich split were perfect in proportion, with side salad, hot tea. I do have to say that I wouldn’t order the pastrami sandwich again. Less pastrami portion, and fatty. Turkey sandwich was good. Lovely environment. Our friends were happy we showed them this restaurant. We always come back.
Fantastic and delicious
Beyond a certain point, in even the best meals, you're paying for service. For individual care and attention, feeling like you're the only person in the places even when the place is buzzing.
We had a fantastic server (Kristin!) and a great sommelier. From the moment we stepped in, from the host to the staff as we departed, we felt cared-for.
And the food! Of course, the food was phenomenal. Delicious, well-portioned, and beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
For Open Table - I originally wanted a 7 PM reservation but there was nothing available until 8 PM. Though suggested, there was no phone number in the reservation area to call restaurant directly and verify the availability of 7 PM to change my reservation time. So, we were anticipating there will be a lot of patrons; however, when we arrived at 8:00 in Manzanita, there was only a few patrons, and lot of empty tables. We could’ve had our dinner earlier, I thought. Why did Open Table show nothing was available at 7PM?
Our dinner experience, the food, the servers, were exceptional!
Great menu and wonderful service. Pleasant dining experience.
My best friend and I had a wonderful lunch served by our super server Valentino. Our food was phenomenal. I highly recommend the persimmon and pomegranate salad with added chicken. The pumpkin pie dessert was delicious. I highly recommend Manzanita!
The restaurant is beautiful, with a nice menu and wine list. The food was well prepared with the exception of far too much salt, which unfortunately ruined the otherwise exceptional main courses.
We stayed in the Village and travelled to and from the restaurant by gondola in the dark. That was a pretty amazing experience, even if the stops midway were a tad unsettling.
Great service + wonderful ambiance + good food = a night to remember.
I tend to eat out here once a ski trip, so not too often. The last few years I was consistently very impressed. On the plus side, the service on this year's visit was every bit as outstanding as in the past. Alas, I have to say I was a bit disappointed by the food -- it was good, but nowhere as subtle and interesting as it had been in years past. A change in chef maybe?
Quality of food is my main reason for going out, so I have to give it a 3-star rating; last year it'd have been a *solid* "4".
Not very special just everyday
We were the last reservation (21h) and a waitress tried to push us to the bar... The attendant caught that and tried to correct the attitude. Our waiter also recognized us and was very apologetic.... He saved the evening. The food was good as usual and he even gave the table several deserts to apologize. Things happen, even at the Ritz, but what matters is what you do about it. Thank you!
Excellent views... nice appetizers!
I’ve eaten here several times before and was really wowed in the past. This time, not so much. One-note, overwhelming flavors, too salty. A lighter hand would make the ingredients shine—top quality ingredients don’t need to be buried in salt/sauces. Had lunch and dinner here during my stay at the Ritz-Carlton—quite expensive for decent, but not amazing food. A bit disappointing considering what the restaurant used to produce. Hoping it bounce soon back as the space is so pretty
Our server Sophie was awesome! Made everything easy and wonderful! 20th anniversary diner was great!!
Our service was impeccable and the food was delicious! The chef must have changed because the food was much better than what I've had there before!
Great service, great ambiance. Noisy and overpriced.
The dood was tasty and entrees were paired creatively with sides. The mix of flavors worked well together. The server was attentive and provided a dessert on the house once she found out it was our 20th wedding anniversary. The Mountain View dessert was fantastic and had us wanting more hours later.
Best server we've ever had at Manzanita (too bad I can't list her name here because I forgot it.) Bartender was helping seat us, and was a little inappropriate in his crankiness, for which this unnamed wonderful server apologized appropriately. Consistently the best food, prepared perfectly, at this spot I love. I always feel like a VIP when I hand my car over to the guys who park it, and then get treated so well.
Manzanita is a perfect place for a special date. Food is amazing, service is impeccable and ambiance is wonderful.
Excellent food and service. We plan to experience the dining here again
Wonderfully attentive service which saved the occasion. Food was skimpy in amount and featured weird combinations - ? pork belly with scallops, ? shredded crab mixed into hash browns. The affogato dessert was served on a dinner plate which prevented the shot of espresso from being poured over the scoop of ice cream!
Celebrated a birthday. The staff surprised us with a delicious birthday dessert.
