Elegant and inviting; with a sumptuous decor awash in the hue's of India's signature spices and decor, the senses were meant to be indulged. Every aspect of Mantra; the food, the decor, the ambiance was designed to excite your senses while also ushering them through the passage of Culinary Nirvana.
great food, excellent service, will definitely go back
The restaurant lacks service. What’s worse is they constantly keep running out of food on Sunday’s. No pappadum and shrimp were available last night. They just don’t care. I have sworn this place off for a good six months. I think the management team always turns an eye to the issues etc.
Food and service was wonderful. Our server was very helpful and kind.
We had a great time! Food was delicious. If you don’t like spicy food like us, your choice is limited, but still you will be happy at the end. We had the safron rice, butter chicken, chicken kabob, garlic-mozarella naan and mango bruleé. Everything besides thhe desert is family style good for 2-3-4 people - depends on how hungry you are. More than enough for two tho. The naan is also fresh, I guess made to order, and when they say garlic, there is a good amount if fresh garlic. So if your going somewhere else after that you might hold on to it.
Happy woth the food and the ambiance and will be back for sure.
Overall the restaurant was good, with good food, ambience and the feel of the place. I just wish the service was better. Every time we had to call for the server. This started right after we were seated, we had to call them for water and drinks, for taking our order, for additional food and even for the check. It was not that the place for super busy, it was just lack of attention to service. Hopefully it was one off case but we were disappointed with the service.
Absolutely loved the Mantra. It was my first time there and the company I had brought along had never experienced Indian cuisine before. The whole experience turned out terrific. My friends and I will certainly be back soon.
To our taste, this is currently the best Indian cooking in the Chicago area, including the Devon and downtown choices. Really a wonderful restaurant.
We love the food and service at Mantra. Had awesome time with friends and family on Father's Day
Truly some of the best Indian food I have encountered.
Bad food, very very slow service, I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
We were recommended to eat at Mantra's and am so glad we were. The food was excellent. We were all so pleased with our selections. Good spice but not too spicy for us. Delicious naan as well as everything else we ordered from lamb to chicken to mahimahi. We went on Mother's Day and it meant a delicious mimosa for me. Very thoughtful. I would highly recommend Mantra's for anyone looking for a delicious authentic Indian meal.
Love the non-traditional look and feel of this place. The ambiance and decor are one reason to go, another is their food! Ordered the Tandoori and Murgh Makhani and both were real good.
Berry good value. Food was delicious and fresh. My family loved the experience.
The food wasn’t as good as it’s been but it was still ok.
What a wonderful experience! the waitstaff made several recommendations that we
happily took. Our dinner was delicious and a harmonious blend of spices. The lambchops
were especially good - the entire table agreed we had never had such tender chops. The
staff was appropriately attentive and ensured great dining experience.
The food is excellent! The ambiance is awesome. Service has always been great.
Amazing Indian food!! Everything in the menu is outstanding. Great service too!
The food was amazing! We usually have to go downtown by Taylor street for Indian food. This will be now be our go to as it is in our neighborhood! The butter chicken literally made me almost cry by how great it was! So many flavors and cooked to perfection.
Finally, a sophisticated Indian restaurant in the burbs! This is my 7th or 8th visit to this restaurant. All my previously visits were disappointing due to the staff. I'm glad the old bad staff with attitude no longer works there, including the manager. At least I hope so. Only reason I frequented the place was for the ambiance and the food. I hope it stays this way.
Let me start with saying that I am Indian so there's no bias here. I had a reservation at 6:45 PM on Friday 02/15 for 4 of us ( wife, me and two kids ). We arrived at 6:43. Upon entering I had a very a cold welcome by one guy who literally did not care if were here or not. After a table was set no one showed up for 30 minutes and all the other Americans around me were treated with great customer service. No water / no menu for 30 minutes when I stood up to talk to the manager. Then someone showed up with Menu ( oh .. of course no question if I wanted something to drink ). Then again no one shows up for 15 mts. I finally decided that my family would quietly walk out without making a scene.
The manager ( Kasha ) saw us and asked us. I explained the story. She insisted that she would give me great service and food would be on the house. She escorted us to our table back and then our customer service was very good. I was offered food on the house.
Food was mediocre. Nothing great. I am giving 2 starts or so because of Kasha.
However, this restaurant also proved that he mentality of Indian restaurants in America continues where if you're an Indian you're not going to be treated well regardless of how punctual / well dressed / well groomed / well mannered.
As usual, Mantra provided excellent service and great food. We really enjoy their extensive menu and delicious preparations. Our favorite Indian food in Chicago area in a cool environment.
Took my wife here for here birthday. It was our first time finally decided to try this place after driving by for years. We both had a great time. Our Waiter Jorge was exceptional. Food was delicious and portions were more than enough for two people. Will definitely be coming back again!
Went with a few friends and we enjoyed ourselves! All of the wait staff was super friendly! My friend who loooves spicy food thought the vindaloo was too spicy even for her. Butter chicken and Tika masala were both very good. There isn’t much chicken for the price (considering it doesn’t come with rice which you have to order on the side). I wish the portion was a bit bigger. My friends liked the Samosas a lot! The restaurant itself was very nice, well decorated, much nicer than expected! I will be back.
I have been here couple of times already. Food was good. We ordered the butter chicken. This visit it was perfect. However, be weary of ordering the butter chicken during the week. From my experience it will taste like old chicken. Your best bet is to go on Friday night or over the weekend. We ordered veggie samosas but they gave us meat samosas. But it was still good. Also, I would never get the dessert. We ordered two the Kheer and the Kulfi. On this visit and my previous visits; it has not been good. I would just stay away from the dessert. Overall the the food and service was good.
Really exceptional Indian food ! Good value for money
My husband, friends and I all love Indian food, and this restaurant was a wonderful surprise - some of the best Indian dishes any of us have had - anywhere.
Food was amazing and we were very impressed with the host/manager that seated us. He was so friendly and professional. The decor is gorgeous!
Second time going to an Indian restaurant and it was great. First time was in the UK and I did not think I would find another place like it. Mantra is great food and good service.
This is the best Indian restaurant in Chicagoland! The ambience is amazing.
The meal was good and people were well behaved and operated nicely.
The service was sub par. Had one serve try approach us after 10 minutes of sitting. When she approach she asked us if we were ready to order. We said not yet and she walked away quickly. Didn't ask us for our drink order or anything. Waited another 15 minutes. Then a guy server came. Took our drink order and food order. Waited 25 minutes for our food. Didn't ask if we wanted refills on drinks. Food was good. Good flavors. After dinner was done. Didn't ask if we wanted dessert or anything. Gave us the check and waited at table until we paid. Made me feel awkward and rushed. Let's not forget the restaurant wasn't busy at all. So I paid and we left. I'm a chef and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Good food but overpriced.
Best Indian food in Illinois!!!
Great food and server was helpful with selecting items. We will be back
This was our second visit to Mantra. In my opinion, it is the best Indian Restaurant in the suburbs. Worth the drive to Schiller Park.
Food was good, as always!
This place is awesome as always. Never disappoints us. The food, the decor is top notch. And the people working there are so welcoming and pleasant. One of the finest Indian restaurant in Chicagoland!
Definitely needs more bus boots and a waiter or two, but Food over all is delicious.
Mother’s Day dinner.
We made a reservation and they said they no longer take open table reservations. When we got there. Funny thing was they had sent me multiple text messages to confirm my reservation which I confirmed and mind you I made the reservation through open table probably one week in advance
This was such a turn off! Then they said OK we will take you.
So it took us probably 15 minutes to get seated then it took another 20 minutes to get somebody to take a drink order we were a party of 12 and starving.
The server had so much attitude but at this point where are you else are you going to get a reservation on Mother’s Day for 12 people so we had to deal with it.
Fortunately the food was good.
But I don’t think we will be back there.
Excellent food but very poor service. Our food came but we had no plates. I would do a takeout because the food is good but I would not recommend eating out there.
We love Mantra. The food is excellent. The service is good - I dinged it a little here because there was a large private party that was requiring attention. However, we were not in a rush and had a fabulous time catching up with friends and eating outstanding food. As usual, we overate!
