Our Friends from all over the country love the ambiance. A wonderful foodie venue with the perfect blend of great food, art and amazing wines. Most of all, the staff are amazing people and will make you feel like a VIP. We love Manos Neuvoux...a true neighborhood gem.
I had early dinner here because I was attending a film screening at the very nearby Castro Theatre. There was only one other diner when I left at 6:45pm
The food was excellent and delicious. I started with their meatball small plate and I have to say that it is indeed rather small consisting of only two small meatballs with some small chorizo pieces and delicious sauce however at $14 which comes to $7 per small meatball I thought this was overpriced
My entree was their most popular dish Chicken breast stuffed with ham and onions in a wonderful sauce and this was a very substantial dish for $23
However it come without any garnish or sides or bread roll
There were no sides listed to order at added cost they simply don't serve anything with their entrees
I spoke with the Chef and he seemed surprised that I expected something other than just the Chicken dish by itself
Also it is important for you to note that as of this week all the remarks you have read about in other reviews that there is NO TIPPING AS TIPS AND TAX ARE INCLUDED NO LONGER APPLY. They have changed their policy and the prices I've mentioned above DO NOT INCLUDE TIP AND TAX which are now additional.
They serve unchilled water without ice and you need to request ice which is brought in a small glass.
Overall it was a pleasant dining experience with excellently prepared food but not a very good value for money now that tips and tax are no longer included
The hostess set the pace for exactly the evening we wanted. The crowd was small as long as we were there--a leisurely, nicely paced two hours--so it stayed pleasantly conversation filled, not noisy. The service standard didn't lapse after the charming welcome. The food is both interesting and delicious, and the look is considered. Over all, Manos is it's own thing in many ways: it's innovations are subtle but constant perhaps most particularly noted in the bowls and flatware in which things are served. It respects both its latin roots and the zeitgeist. We'll be back.
Manos Nouveau is my new to-go spot for exquisite fine dining without compromises as they never ceases to amaze me with their own unique style of flavorful cuisine and fine selection of wine. I am treated extremely well by the staff and they always seem to know what's best to satiate my hunger. I can taste the freshness and quality of the food as they've pride themselves in using seasonal organic ingredients. The establishment is conveniently located in the heart of the Castro district on Market and 17th St., where I can easily get there by public transportation. The ambience is just right; not too noisy and not too quiet. If you can't decide what to order, I strongly recommend their cordon bleu. It is unlike any others I've tasted. The flavor, texture, colors, presentation is just right. The cordon bleu's juicy chicken meat is complemented well by a hearty portion of the chef's sauce and other ingredients that goes into this dish. It may take some time to prepare, but this impressive dish is absolutely well worth the wait.
Online menu was very extensive and included a prix fix menu which looked great. On arriving, there were only two or three items Available in each category. I liked the fact that all taxes and gratuities were included in the menu price. They've done a nice job with this restaurant and I'd love to see it succeed.
Menu is frequently updated so every visit is a treat. Creative sauces inspired by Latin America bring new life to traditional European dishes. All inclusive prices and a high value wine list make for an especially reasonable price for a creative meal you'd pay so much more for elsewhere.
Great neighborhood gem. The owner is hands on in the kitchen and delivered my meal personally..The dry aged ribeye is only offered occasionally and it was spectacular! Everything was very flavorful. The wine recommendation was spot on, and the best part is tax and tip are already included.
Manos Nouveau has certainly reached its stride creating unusual but instantly likable French Latin fusion cuisine. I skipped the well priced $50 3-course prix fixe to make a meal out of some remarkable appetizers. The chorizo French onion soup was absolutely stunning. The perfectly textured albondigas were meaty with a hearty mix of French and Latin flavors. The blood orange house-cured salmon balls, the most eclectic dish and a bit more out there than I am used to, was also good. I ended with sweet plantain crème brûlée; a tour de force that brings French and Latin together in sublime harmony. The wine list is not expansive but there are enough choices to enrich the meal and the staff suggestions are always on point. For a more intimate experience, ask for a downstairs table. If the menu prices seem high, that is because the price includes tax, tip, and skips the shameless self-serving SF mandate that most other restaurants charge. Altogether that can range from 26% to 33% extra elsewhere. So, the prices here are very reasonable indeed. Distinctly, the food, ambiance and staff transport you to a distant lovely world.
It's been a little while since I've stopped by and I noticed that the menu is definitely leveling up (and it was rockstar to begin with). The chicken cordon bleu is now done sous vide, making it even more succulent and savory. The pork chop is currently my favorite, offering a delicious balance of sweet fruit over citrusy cauliflower (which I've never tried before but loved). They have orange cured salmon avocado balls that are a delicious (and beautiful) starter to share. And their wine list has some really unique new additions. I'm excited to hear that the aged ribeye will be back again in early March! Overall, I love this place and am anxious to return to try what's coming next.
I looooove this restaurant. The filet mignon is fantastic and for dessert you can't go past the lucuma ice cream. It's the best ice cream in SF easily! I feel like this restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in the city. The service is super friendly too.

We had a lovely time at Manos Nouveau. I had wanted to try it forever but found it slightly on the pricey side. That said, it is tax and tip free and actually worked out to about the same as Starbelly, and 2x as good.
I didn't think the scallops appetizer was that amazing for the price, but thought the mains (filet mignon and salmon) were inventive and phenomenal and worth more than we paid.
Definitely check it out for a nice, calm dinner with easy reservation in the Castro. There's not a lot of great restaurants, but this is one.
I love this place. Where else can you get high end cuisine at decent prices ... in the CASTRO? The Spanish fusion food rocks and the service has always been very attentive (I've been there now about 5 times). And unlike most places, it's quiet enough that you can carry on a real conversation. The location keeps it hidden from some passersby I'm sure, but it's worth seeking out. Get a spot by the window for a lovely view of the classic F-line streetcars as they turn around at the end of the line. I especially like the tip-and-tax-included pricing. Makes everything simple and eliminates the weird power-vibe that traditional tipping sometimes promotes. More places should do this.
I'll be back as often as I can for this delish place. The highlight is the food, but there a lot of other bonuses at this lovely little gem.
I wanted to take my clients to a restaurant that serves small bite appetizers and that was conducive to conversation. Manos was perfect for that. We had great appetizers, delicious Albondigas, fresh Ahi Tuna ceviche, savory chicken croquettes, a sweet pumpkin soup and plantain chips. We also ordered the Latin style chicken cordon Bleu and the rib eye and for dessert, the lucuma ice cream. We were very impressed with everything, especially our server, Caitlin, who is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to wine.

Whenever you are in the SF area and feel like enjoying a very unique dish
in an upscale restaurant where you will also appreciate the artistically decorated walls and the view of the SF cable cars, I recommend Manos Nouveau.
We came in for the NYE prefix, which was beyond unimpressive. The gentlemen who was working the front was terribly rude and if it isn't his resturaunt I hope the principal reads this. Your front door totally turned me off of my experience and I would never come back or recommend your spot. The food was under thought and not worth the value we paid. Charge me $300, but show up with something that blows my mind or don't bother pretending.
I LOVE this place. This is our 2nd time, it was NYE evening and I was a little worried because it was a Prix Fixe menu. I should not have worried, the choices were amazing as was the service and wine. We had a table for 2 upstairs in the window and it was very romantic. I can't wait to go back!
The chef was unwilling to accommodate a sensitive health condition and no alterations or substitutions were allowed to the menu. He came up to a neighboring table and proclaimed that he could not serve sauce on the side because his work was "art" and could not be violated (the family left the restaurant without eating). The service was extremely slow - our three course meal lasted over three hours, and two of the already limited menu choices were unavailable. The food, when it finally arrived, was quite good, but portions were overly small. I certainly will never eat at Manos Nouveau again.
Service was prompt and friendly. Server was knowledgeable and recommended a very nice wine for our dinner. All three courses were interesting and very tasty. Portion sizes were just right; ate everything and felt very satisfied. Would have rated five stars, except for the coffee served with dessert. Very weak and warm is the best I can say. I hope they'll work on that!
We chose restaurant on basis of reviews expecting a neighbourhood gem on Christmas Eve.
Upon arrival welcome not so welcoming and once seated we observed that staff appeared rushed, nonchalant or under staffed or stressed? and not happy to be working Christmas Eve.
Restaurant was cold despite mild outside weather -we and other diners sat in our coats.
We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc but a red of the same vineyard was poured to taste so we had to correct the waitress who yes had made a genuine mistake but dealt with it as though it was an inconvenience.(understaffed?stressed?)
The starters were very good - a pumpkin soup and ahi cerviche both fresh and flavoursome.
So despite the rather joyless ambience we were hopeful that the food would make the night. Our main issue Was with the chicken cordon bleu dish. Chicken overcooked, so rubbery and with no sides or garnish. We had a couple of mouthfuls and both decided that it was not worth pursuing.
It was at this point the waitress became attentive and said she'd inform the chef who duly came to speak to us. All credit to him as he tried to turn the situation around, offering to cook us something else. But we were tired and cold and not enjoying the experience and felt similarly to the vibe given off by the staff that it was Christmas Eve and we wanted to be home.
We had a few mouthfuls of the frozen chocolate mousse - not to our taste again a bit bland and we were pleased to see that the chicken had been removed from the bill so once again credit to the chef/owner for this.
If the starters were so good then perhaps we were unlucky in our choices.
