Manor Oktoberfest of Forest Hills Ratings and Reviews
Very popular place with my family and friends. Casual atmosphere. The drinks are great with a large selection. The beer is high quality and the food is delicious and always consistent. Portions are large. Waiting service treats you like part of the family and you are never rushed. Fun place to have dinner.
We love the the place. The food is delicious and the service is great, BUT the band was way too loud. We couldn't hear each other talk or even hear the waiter. We went there last Oktoberfest and it was worse. Our whole table sat there miserable and couldn't wait to leave. Please have them lower the volume. Besides enjoying the delicious food, we also want to have a conversation.
Made a reservation on the spot and they took us in right away. The place was full and both Yankees and Mets were playing on the screens. Came here with my buddies for the bacon. It is so damn good. We tend to fight for the last pieces. Our server, Joanna, was a delight. She always has a smile on her face, and it is welcoming and makes you want to order more. She also leaves you alone to enjoy your food. She has a good pace to check in on the table. I felt bad...there are 2 girls running the tables and they work really hard and still manage to keep a smile. I praise them for how hard they work. We order quite a few things. Including bacon...crab cakes, perogies, flank steak, 2 types of weiner schnitzel. All were good. We also ordered quite a bit of beer. My 2 buddies ordered the Boot which holds 2 liters of beer. It's only Sheffenhofer so it only has 2.5% alcohol. The NBA playoffs came on and we stayed for majority of the game. Besides us having a good time, I can say Joanna was really nice and took good care of us. She is very thoughtful of what is good to order as well. She is a good reason to return to Oktoberfest.
Fun Place! Great Crowd! Attentive Staff! Good Music - A great local German-American band, Die Schlauberger, were playing at the time of my most recent visit! Great Music, while dining on Great Food, surrounded by friendly, engaging people! I love to confidently bring my friends to Manor Oktoberfest for a good time! Always a Crowd Pleaser!
You can never be disappointed at Manor. From the moment you walk in, the receptionists are smiling and friendly. To the left is the long bar and small tables, and ti the right is the dining area with large booths included. Suzie was our server tonight and did a very nice job. Even tho she had to take care a few tables by herself most of the time. My buddy and I ordered the Black forest bacon, and we shared a porterhouse for 2. On Wednesday, the have a $5 for a liter of the chosen beer. Tried the Hofbrau and special and they were both nice, _. You could have used a butter knife to cut it. We also ordered the mac and cheese and the spaztle. Both were delicious. It was.not too busy, and we really enjoyed our meal.
I've been there before with my husband. This time I was with friends for a gals night out. I was disappointed in the amount of gravy, and the home fries were dry, burnt and hard. I left them on the plate hoping someone in the kitchen would see they weren't eaten and why, but either they didn't notice or didn't care. I could've asked for different ones but it was just easier to push them aside.
This place is in a remote part of forest hills quite some distance from the main strip. After finding it, you are thankful it is remote as there isn't a big crowd at the restaurant (if you go early). I took my girlfriend here for a birthday lunch and it was a wonderful experience, the food was simple, some burgers and veggie stuff, she liked it, my bacon burger was massive with a huge bacon slice and their wasabi sauce was fresh and went well with the fries. The selection of beer was comparable to some brewery's that I have been to, the German draft beer the waitress recommended was tasty it with a crisp slight hop and i hate hoppy beer. When I told the waitress that it was my dates birthday she offered to sing happy birthday but I told her just a candle would suffice and she made it happen, after dinner she brought a cheesecake with a single candle no music as requested. When we were leaving the place looked like it was filling up for the evening as there was a live band setting up and a many of the tables were filled, I expect this place to be even better at night. Overall this place was everything I expect and more out of a quality restaurant and I will definitely being going back in the future.
When we arrived with an open table reservation, the host did not have a table for us and the wait time was going to be 20+ minutes. We opted to sit in the bar area where it's pretty much self service. We ordered our food from the bartender. After waiting about 15 minutes, we were told that he forgot to put our order in. I wouldn't recommend sitting in the bar area unless you're right in front of him but can be a loud, noisier enviorment.
When the food did arrive, the taste and quality is quite good. Was it worth the wait, maybe not? But it was very good and glad to have tried this place in the neighborhood. They are very authentic and have a private party section for larger groups. If you're into German food and beer, this is the place to go.
