Friendly, courteous , remembered us from prior dining, great serves, outstanding food. What can I say, will go back. Enjoyable. Great staff
Excellent Local quiet place with great staff and specials! Regular-repeat customer. Have never had a bad experience here.
We met for girls night as a break from all our kids (17 between 6 moms)! We had a great time!
Very disappointed. We realize it was restaurant week, but management should have made sure throughly staffed. Server was very inadequate. Had to remind her to bring out sauces for bread, pepper and parmigiano for entrees. She acted like we were dining out for the first time and she could cut corners with us. Entrees arrived Luke warm. Could not get her attention to let her know about this, so we just finished our meal. My husband's dessert drink came out well before my cheesecake, which ruined the whole dessert experience.
I discovered this restaurant during the 2017 restaurant week and fell in love with it. I’ve gone back on multiple occasions and it is always so good. The crab soup is the best ever and the service is wonderful.
Went with friends for restaurant week, we all selected from the $25 menu, food and service was excellent and perfectly proportioned. Only problem was something on thecrestsurant made my wife's allergies kick in and she couldn't stop sneezing. We'll be back so we'll be able to see if it happens again. Manninos is our go to Italian restsurant.
We went there because it was restaurant week and date night. We love great Italian and certainly found it. Our server was the best and took care of our dining experience. Nothing was rushed and the courses were served with adequate time between each one. Truly one of the best dining experiences we have had in a while. Staff great, food great, night great !
Great menu for restaurant week for $25 dinner. Two of us started with the crab soup, which was excellent as usual; and one started with the meatball, very tasty with a lot of cheese. For the main course we had the penne alla vodka and two of us had the pollo francese. The chicken was so tender you could cut it with a fork. We got some of it to go so we could eat our cannoli. I would highly recommend making a reservation.
It was restaurant week at the beach, so we booked a table at 5:30. It got to full capacity by 6, which made for a high noise level and closeness to your dining neighbors. But people were friendly and chatted with each other. Our waitress Esmeralda was super and accommodating. Food was very good and dinner wasn't rushed despite the size of crowd. Always exceptional! Always dependable, even though a bit pricey.
My Tortellini Mannino was great! However my son's Chicken Piccata was undergone and had a weird texture. The server related that to the chef and he basically blamed my son's sense of texture. My son's wife and my husband also had the same thing and there's was fine. My son had also asked for anything but spaghetti as a side and when his dish arrived at the table, there was spaghetti on his plate. I think that the chef needs some retraining in hospitality! He certainly thinks that he knows what's best for his diners! I would not go here again nor recommend Manninos for this reason.
This was my first time at the restaurant. I chose to go here for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. Everything was absolutely amazing . The appetizers were delicious and the service was great. The waitress was awesome, she knew a lot about the dishes and the wine. The entree’s that we ordered were absolutely phenomenal. Would definitely come back and would highly recommend this place to my friends and family. Absolutely delicious food. 5 out of 5!
Food and service were great as usual. Went for my son's birthday
The she crab soup was fantastic! Best I have ever had. Kathryn our server was wonderful and very attentive. The gnocchi was delish.
Best Italian food in the Hampton Roads area. Enough said. You must go.
Valentine’s dinner. Service was excellent despite the crowd. Food was fabulous, she crab soup is unbeatable. Always enjoy a great meal at Mannino’s.
Great food. Best Italian in Hampton Roads.
My wife and I come here often and love it every time. We have never had a negative experience. The pasta sauce has always been great, not too watery like most places. The soups are fantastic!
Went to the Princess Anne restaurant for Valentine's dinner. First time visiting Mannino's. Appetizers were excellent. We had the Scallops with Lobster Claw. Also had their She-Crab Soup. Definitely worth the trip for that. Had the Veal Marsala and the Lobster Macaroni. Superb. Wait staff was great. If the other restaurants hold up as well as this one then they have a winning combination.
Our waiter, Scott, was really slammed with tables, but he handled it all in stride with a smile, as it was Valentine's Day and Mannino's was packed. However, the food was wonderful, as always, and our dinner was lovely, again.
I decided to check this place out after seeing in this site for quite some time. When I pulled up the place looked kind of small and not really kept up. One I entered, the inside was exactly what I expected. It was small, cramped and looked like nothing had been don’t to it in quite some time. The tables seemed crammed in there, I expect from increased numbers for Valentines Day. I was really ready to turn around and go home. If it were not for the occasion I definitely would have. We were greeted by our waiter Steve. Steve did a great job taking care of us. I started with the lobster bisque which we actually pretty good, served hot and had plenty of lobster. Fir the next course we had the appetizer special which was a scallop topped with lobster claw meat. That was pretty good but kind of small for the price and a little salty for my taste. The most disappointing course was the main course, the Frutti Di Mare. This was a train wreck. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce was way too watery and very bland. The seafood was ok but the calamari was a bit rubbery. This place was not worth the price of the food. There are plenty of other places with better food and better prices. This seems like a locals hangout who show up more out of loyalty than for quality food. If not for the service, this would have been a disaster. I will definitely not be back to this establishment.
Our anniversary dinner at one of our favorite places. Food was delicious as alway. Service was attentive We took some famous She Crab soup home to have for Ash Wednesday Dinner as well. Only recommendation is to lower lights a bit to make restaurant more relaxing and intimate
Service was great, except for having to place your appetizer and entree order at the same time.( I don’t remember doing that the last time) They still course it out, but you can’t order an appetizer and eat while talking over the menu. Also the slight up charge to change marinara to olive oil and garlic was $5( the price of I just got an additional side). All and all my wife and I hade a great meal.
Excellent food paired with excellent service a combination that couldn't be beat. The restaurant was full and a bit noisy wouldn't recommend a weekend for a quiet date night. Even though I still highly recommend it.
Very good food and service.Restaurant was packed and pretty noisy when we arrived for our 7 pm dinner but there must have been a lot of earlyseatings and crowd soon dispersed. This didn’t affect our service. Only negative was a lack of flexibility on salad ingredients for one of our party with special dietary needs.
We enjoyed our meal with friends.
My wife and I came to try the award-winning crab soup. It was really good! We wish the dining room was a little quieter as the noise can make conversation a little difficult, but you can tell by the lively ambiance that people enjoy this place. The wait staff were also excellent.
As always food was fantastic and service was exceptional. This is our favorite Italian Bistro.
The food was really good and the staff was great. The only complaint was the size of the place. You might be seated a foot away from another group so its not very private.
The food and experience was overall excellent. We had a problem with waiting for food and the bill. The first courses were brought out within 5 minutes. After the first courses we waited for at least 20 to 40 minutes to get the rest of our food and the bill.
Less then 4 star
Because of the prices and reputation, we came here expecting something special. It wasn't. To be fair, our entrees were very good -- pollo marsala and pollo francese -- but there were also issues. My mother-in-law asked if she could have angel hair pasta with her marsala, but they only serve spaghetti or penne. I've not heard of an Italian restaurant that only serves two types of pasta. My wife's clams possilipo ended up being a mixed bag. The clams themselves were all right (not as good as our favorite Italian restaurant), but the grilled bread that is part of the dish tasted as if it were deep fried, with an oily and unpleasant aftertaste. The after meal cappuccino was served with no sugar (our favorite place serves it with a classy rock candy swizzle stick), and the hot tea was served as just a cup of espresso-hot water with a tea bag. There was no pot of hot water or any attention paid to the presentation of these drinks, as one would expect in a fine dining restaurant. The next day, my wife compared the prices of each dish with the same dishes at our favorite Italian, and Mannino's was slightly more expensive. For fine dining prices, one expects a fine dining experience, so why would we return?
Mannino’s Is my go to for good Italian food. I have never been disappointed in the food or service, and we love their Chianti and Sangiovese. They have the best she-crab soup in the area, too! The only down side to the Kempsville location is it is cramped and loud, so it would be tough for an intimate dinner.
I will definitely go back but I think we had a new waiter. It took a long time to get bread, drinks etc. There were 6 of us and 4 people ordered soup and they only brought 3. Good service, very good food just slow service.
I would go back.
Great food, great service, Dianne is always wonderful and we love seeing her.
Fantastic food! The Gorgonzola bruschetta was amazing. Loved it all.
First time at this location (though not the first time at a Mannino’s! Brought 3 people who’d never been before, and everyone raved about their meals. Overall, we had an excellent time. Hope you can expand the dining area one of these days!
Service and food were excellent. This was our first visit, will definitely be back.
Great food and service as usual. A little noisy this time. We will definitely return.
We tried the oysters appetizer for the first time and it was absolutely wonderful! Scott was our waiter, and he was outstanding. We really liked him.
We have always loved Mannino’s - especially for special occasions. My husband proposed to me here and we’ve returned for every anniversary since. Sometimes restaurants do something nice - a little complimentary dessert or glass of champagne for special occasions so we were surprised that Mannino’s did nothing to recognize our special night. The food and service is top notch so we will always return - just wanted to share our experience.
