Mannino's Italian Bistro - Kempsville
We all had an amazing experience at Mannino's for Easter brunch. Food was delicious and the service was top-notch. We'll definitely be back!
Very disappointed in the clam sauce. It was bland and flavorless. Took it home and fixed it. Not worth the price either.
Food and service, excellent as always. Even though the place was packed and the staff extra busy, my wife and I were greeted with a smile, a table was waiting for us and we were serve in a rapid and outstanding manner.
My work travel takes me all over the country, and I use Open Table to visit Italian restaurants in many differing locales. It is hard to find any that can stand up to the cuisine that comes out of our Virginia Beach jewel, and not to forget the friendly service that accompanies it.
consistently good - waitstaff remember you after just a couple of visits - food is great and specials are almost always a great bet!
The service was outstanding. The restaurant needs updating. Very casual some of the seats and cushions are very worn. The food was not as good as last time don't know why I it just wasn't
The best Italian food! Great service, nice music. Always great! Our favorite Italian restaurant!
Had to move from one dining area to a second dining area as the first room was extremely loud. There was a very large party of 16-18 people who were extremely Lyons.
First time here and it was incredible. I highly recommend it!
We have been there several times and it is always a pleasure. Food great, service greater. Thank you so much.
Food was great, tasty. Service was excellent, but a little pandering- “how’s my favorite table?” They seated us 15 min earlier than anticipated, & they were glad to support Shamrock runners (which my wife was). Wines by the glass was an outstanding value for me, since wife could not drink due to running the next day. 2nd time there & will definitely return. Highly recommendable place in my assessment.
We love Mannino's. My wife and I share a salad, enjoy a glass of wine and feast of the amazing She-Crab soup.
The food was delicious. Five of us were there and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals! It is the perfect place for a gourmet Italian dinner that doesn’t cost a fortune. We will go again and again.
Our dinner with friends was quite good- Ms Diane again took care of us. Her suggestions for wine were spot on and the service superb. Mannino's is the best Italian around bar none. Will be back soon for sure
Our waitress did an excellent job in steering us to try the crab soup...and oh my goodness was it phenomenal! I even took a separate container home as a second appetizer. Will be visiting again as a business meeting hotspot.
Was our second time and it was excellent, again. The server remembered us and was great. Drinks, food, service all great! Looking forward to our next visit!!
This was my third time visiting Minnino’s and we brought first timers this time. They agreed that Minnino’s is one of the best restaurants they’ve ever eaten at. I’ve ordered something different all three times and have yet to be disappointed. Minnino’s is without a doubt my most favorite Italian restaurant. I’m sure we’ll be back very soon with more first timers, keep up the great work.
We went for restaurant week. Delicious food, great services, and perfect prices. So glad we found this “new spot”
Our second great experience at Mannino’s and I cannot wait to return! I had the veal francese and it was wonderful as was my husband’s spaghetti and meatballs. One of the things I love is the wine selection including Molly Dookers, however this night we enjoyed a lovely bottle of Ken Wright Pinot Noir. I never order dessert but did give in to a chocolate martini that had me swirling my finger around the emptied glass in an effort to leave no chocolate behind. Great ambiance and service once we were seated. Despite having a reservation we did have to wait for a while but because it was restaurant week I would not let that keep me from going back soon!
Diane was a fantastic waitress!!!! Our meal was impeccable!!! We've been to Mannino's Kempsville many times, and will continue to come back again, whether it's restaurant week or not.
Service was great, food was awesome, definitely will go back. Enjoyed our evening with friends
Went with family during restaurant week on Saturday. It was the best for everyone. Thank you to Grace, our waitress, she was wonderful.
The decor was a bit shabby but the food and service was good. Location was in a strip shopping center which was also a bit shabby. Despite the decor and location we enjoyed our meal.
It was my first visit to Mannino’s and it was great. The server was very attentive and the food was excellent. I will definitely visit again.
Came for restaurant week and it was packed. Took a few more minutes from reservation to get seated, but not an issue. Tables were pretty close to each other when it was only two of us but that’s okay, busy places need to make room for more customers.
The food was well worth it though. I will be coming back.
Crab soup is amazing and deserving of the award they have hanging by the door for.
Had ordered calamari (not restaurant week menu item) which was great, what I expect from calamari appetizers when it’s served.
Shrimp alla Vodka was my entree, loved it. Huge shrimp and cooked perfectly tender.
Tiramisu was good, my friend got the cheesecake which was like twice the size of my cut of tiramisu.
All in all I’ll be coming back because I’ve been looking for a more local Italian restaurant in the area with theses kinds of pasta dishes.
Our server ,Grace, was delightful and very professional and friendly. The food was excellent as always.
Great food and service. Table by the window was a little cool, but not enough to mention.
This review is just based on my wants in a restaurant...our reservations were for 6:30, but we waited for quite a while at the hostess station..10 minutes or more maybe, while she took an order on the phone. The hostess was pleasant and young...I probably would have preferred the caller be put on hold to take care of the customers that are standing in front of you...especially since the caller needed a lot explained to him/her.
We did not get out of there until after 8 because they were very busy and it took a long time to get drinks and food.
Our waitress was wonderfully friendly and was hurrying to do her best.
And the She-crab soup, or course, was out of this world...living up to its reputation.
The acoustics of the place was not good and the room was very loud... a bit of a challenge to hear my table mate when she was speaking. But that is just me...many folks like the noisy atmosphere.
It is a friendly, informal place and the food was hot and good. My drink was great also.
Food was great! Waitstaff very friendly and efficient. Noise level high because of crowd. Food made up for it.
Two people ordered Eggplant Parm. could not taste the eggplant for it had to much sauce and cheese laying on a bed of pasta. Pasta should be a side dish not laying on the eggplant.
Other guest had chicken parm. did not have much of a taste.
Crab soup was delicious, dessert great.
Entree left a lot to be desired for the price.
Delicious cuisine, and very good service...we will be back!
I didn't like the seat I was given by the hostess and wasn't given a seat that I said I would rather have. Other than that I was very satisfied
Best Italian that I’ve ever had by far!!
As always, they met very standard for an excellent dining experience. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food is always perfect.
Great food, great atmosphere, even with kids!! We love bringing out of town guests here - they always love the food!
Excellent specials for Valentines Day!
Attentive waitress, delicious salads, fabulous meal with delightful wine, finished with tirimisu, cheesecake and coffee! It could not have been a better evening out with friends!
Esmeralda was our server and she truly is the best!
We were seated immediately upon arrival..our waitress Rachel was AWESOME!! There's was a very large group of what might have been culinary students there which made the environment kind of noisy but definitely not unbearable. The other guests mentioned to us the She crab soup.. It was nothing shy of AMAZING.. actually our entire meal was.. I've been telling everyone about this new found gem and I'll certainly return myself!!
Arrived with reservations on a Friday night at 0615 and was seated promptly. Went for the she-crab soup - it kept true to the reviews - FANTASTIC. The rest of our food was good - chicken marsala, fried oysters (very nice plate with alot big fat oysters), and Tortellini Mannino. Service (was helpful and nice) and bar was very slow (thank goodness it was just the girls - my husband would have died of thirst waiting on a beer!). Ambiance was nice, lighting was fairly dim, crowd was LOUD - lots of celebrating. Average Italian fare, would go again but order a bottle of wine not by the glass.
