Mankas Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Had never been here before, but a friend gave me gift cards so we used them for our wedding anniversary celebration. There was a lively outdoor dining area and the Giants game was on in the bar/upstairs dining area, but the hostess noted it was our anniversary and asked if we wanted to sit downstairs. We had the entire room to ourselves for most of our meal. It was lovely!
The food was amazing! My filet melted in my mouth with a wonderful sauce and 2 types of sauteed mushrooms on top. My husband was equally happy with his selection. For our celebration, they comped us a molten cake & ice cream dessert. Scrumptious! The cocktails were also very good -- one of the best Cosmos I've ever had.
The service was also excellent! Our waitress Kim was so friendly and provided excellent service. The hostess was equally nice and went out of her way to make sure our evening was perfect. We will definitely be back!
A visit to Mankas is always something I look forward to. Great chef, creative cuisine, friendly staff and locally sourced food and wines. The patio is our favorite spot for relaxing and being pampered. Made my birthday dinner very special - can't wait to return!
Went for a Father's Day brunch. My family seem to enjoy their meals better than I did mine. The lobster bisque was amazing! Food wasn't all that bad although I do wonder if the dinner menu (if there is one) is better. I'll give it another shot for dinner to see if there is anything different. Perhaps I was the victim of hearing too many people say too many good things about it so my expectations may have been very high. I guess I'll have to give it another shot to see.
Our steak was superb and the crab cakes delicious however the accompanying food was only fair. It is a great place to eat and drink just wished that they put a little more effort on the side dishes. It was close to being a little pricey for what you received, not an everyday kind of place for the average person. That being said,we eat there 3-4 times a year.
It was, just OK. The steak was tasty enough and cooked well but the chimmichurri sauce was poor and tasted like olive oil with a ton of salt thrown in. I honestly can't think of too many positives, it was, just OK. You should expect better. I'd hesitate in recommending it.
Went here for a lunch. This location is appx. 5 miles West of Fairfield.
My wife had a salmon salad, which consisted of mixed greens and a couple of tomatoes and salmon on the side. I had the sirloin steak and a side salad. My salad was mixed greens with nothing else. We had to ask for bread, no steak knife for the meat as a sirloin is on the tough side.
I'm unsure if this was the servers fault or restaurant policy.
Bottom line..The food is good, but very frugal.
This was our first time to Mankas and we will return when traveling through the area. Dinners are pricey, but my husband's medium rare steak was perfect. I ordered a filet mignon medium well, I don't mind a little pink, but it came rare. My husband was completely finished with his meal before mine returned from the kitchen. It was cooked medium well and was delicious. Vegetables served with our meals were on the spare side. Would have loved a little more to enjoy. Salads, and soups are extra. So for a large New York steak, a 6 oz filet mignon, a Bloody Mary, and an iced tea, our bill was $98.
Always enjoy the outdoor patio and Wednesday night music from talented local artists. Love the chimicuri steak special but ventured beyond that this time for the whole board and cocktails on a summer evening. It hit all our spots! Such a wonderfull out-of-the-way spot!
We were there to celebrate a birthday with reservations for 5pm. It was about 83° that day. They sat us inside in a booth and the interior of the restaurant was very hot. It was very uncomfortable as they did not have the A/C turned on. It was too hot for our 2 year old to remain inside, so his Dad took him to the car to sit in the cars A/C. The food was okay. I would not recommed going on a hot day. Quite disappointing.
I thought the food and service was great. I didn't realize from the outside how big it actually was. We were near the bathrooms but we couldn't tell, it was so quiet. It probably would have been quieter but there was a loud patron at the next table.
We sat outside which was very nice. It is too bad the corner that the restaurant is situated has gotten so busy. It gets pretty noisy with traffic but it was still very pleasant.
The service was good, not exceptional but not bad. We waited quite a while to be greeted but once dinner got started the flow was acceptable. We brought in our own wine and after it was opened the server never refilled our glasses. Really not that big of a deal…
The food was mediocre at best. I had the salmon and my guest had the halibut. Probably shouldn't order fish in Fairfield but then again it shouldn't be on the menu. Both dishes were lacking flavor and nothing to write home about.
We went into the bar for an after dinner drink. The music was fun and the bartender provide a good service.
I might go back for drinks and appetizers but I probably wouldn't go back for dinner. Seems overpriced for the location and the quality of food.
I live five minutes from Mankas Steakhouse and have eaten there many times. I have always had very good food and service. This time was a huge disappointment. Three of us had the Halibut and it was very bland. Three other people in our party said the food was , "just okay". There did not seem to be any seasoning on the food. Just a little salt would have livened up the dish. The time it took for our food to be served was very slow. That is not usually the case and I will just write it off as a bad night. When you charge high end prices that should not happen.
The service is slow, not sure if it's the kitchen that's slow or the wait staff is slow. There is a menu item that has been on the menu for about nine months but they never have it. I have asked for it three different occasions. The menu rarely changes. The ladies bathroom door lock was broken so my husband had to stand outside to make sure I wasn't disturbed while using the facilities.
This was my first time at mankas and I was
very satisfied with the over all experience. Our server was great, the food was delicious, it was a great place that we would very much like to visit again. If I had one thing to nitpick it would be my meatloaf sandwich. The flavore was out of this world however for lunch it was a very tiny sandwich. If it was larger I would have been thrilled. I frequent a lot of great restaurants and this is one I'm happy to add to my list that I will be visiting again.
I made reservations for five on a Friday night through OpenTable. We were seated at a table for six, which provided an extra chair to place coats and bags. Chelsea waited on us. She was very accommodating regarding our request to open and chill the wine we had brought with us and answered our questions about the menu selection.
We ordered crab cakes m, Tuscan bean soup, roasted beet salad, wild Salmon, lamb, halibut ,and steak. Everyone finished their food and there were no leftovers.
I would highly recommend both the waitress and the restaurant .
Two other people helped bring out the food, they were also very nice. I didn't catch either of their names.
We enjoyed the food, drinks were over priced and Idid not like being charged for sauce for my steak, after paying $200.00 for dinner. However, they did offer free dessert to the birthday person, that was a nice surprise. I originally was going to take my husband to Kincaid's in Oakland for his birthday. It was nice to stay in Fairfield and an enjoy first class steakhouse. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.
