Dine on southern comfort food with a modern twist at Manhattan Seattle. Its industrial-style rustic setting is charming and wonderful for having a drink with friends or dining out with a date. Patrons can begin their meal with a spicy carrot salad or the soup of the day Manhattan Seattle. It also offers small plates of filled with fare, such as duck confit rillette or seared scallops with mushroom ragout. Fried chicken, Kansas City-style baby back ribs or lobster tail.
Manhattan Seattle has a sizable bar that offers classic cocktails, draft beer and more. It serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. This restaurant features a happy hour and provides catering for private events.
Cool looking, love the northwest goes to church and is a little soft Goth. The small plates, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and calamari were the highlights. Skip the mac and cheese! Steak lovers both raved as well as were disappointed so hit and miss. We were a party of 8 and the main courses came out in a 14 minutes interval, NOT SO GOOD . Wanted to love this place, and almost did. Gratuity was added we would have tipped more but you decided for us. I You can definitely look cool while dining, I will say go with the small plates and cocktails.
I made a brunch reservation at Manhattan this past weekend based on others' reviews. We weren't disappointed - the food was amazing. Our group of four tried three different menu items - all were delicious. Will definitely return. Highly recommend!!
Felt I had dropped into a New York bar with good food and perfectly attentive staff. We had a booth in the back which made for a quiet romantic meal. I had the steak with German potato salad which was outstanding. The upholstered walls add to the Manhattan "feel" in sort of a MadMan way. I will return
Came to celebrate a birthday. Burgers were very overcooked and dry, service was slow and nothing was done for the birthday person and dessert was never offered.
stopped in for restaurant week. The service was decent, but the food was forgettable. Ordered the bibb lettuce and beet salad (literally only 6 tiny beet cubes in the salad), sauteed calamari, lamb shank w/ cheese grits, and some play on steak and potatoes. I feel like everything was more than slighlty under seasoned. Tried to order the hush puppies, they are no longer served, but still on the menu. For dessert, the pot de creme. Took one bite and knew something wasn't right. Only to be confirmed by the waiter, who, while clearing the table remarked, "the dessert is weird, isn't it?" We came, we tried, we will not return.
My friends and I really loved this restaurant EXCEPT for their service. I had a party of 5 and food did not come at the same time that my friends who received food first waited so long to eat their cold food. This happened throughout every order. I am willing to try this place again for the food but service needs to be improved for sure.
This is my second visit to Manhattan, and the food has been excellent both times.
Decided to give Manhattan a try for restaurant week and it was a great dinner. The food took a while to get out to us, but our server was very attentive and kept our delicious cocktails full. The steak was cooked well, but the highlight of the trip was the steelhead that my girlfriend had. It was melt in your mouth good. I would highly recommend it.
Manhattan is by far one of my favorite restaurants/bars on the hill and for good reason. The food is always fresh and delicious and they are always serving something you're sure to be craving at all hours of the day and night!
I took my foodie-husband and two of our best-foodie-friends out for his birthday on Monday and it did not disappoint! We all started with some tasty beverages (my personal fav being sparkling wine and a float of St. Germane...) including the Brandy <3's Nolan (which my hubby LOVED) and the classic Manhattan!
We then enjoyed sharing some small plates like steakhouse poutine (which has whole steak medallions on it!!) fried green tomatoes and truffled lobster mac n'cheese!! SO GREAT! My friends' eyes were as big as their plates once they had their first bite and only got better!
We enjoyed main dishes like filet mignone, rib-eye and the deep fried/stuffed chicken (which is INCREDIBLE)!!
The food was over the top awesome and the atmosphere and our server just made it that much better! My husband has requested that this be our date-night spot as well as his birthday spot for next year! :D Keep up the amazing work!!!
I love Manhatten. Food is always amazing with menu changing periodically. Cocktails are great. And it's got a great, hip feel. It's kind of like a 5 star restaurant without the crazy prices. It's bookmarked in my book for dates, pre parties, drinks, and dinner with friends.
We visited Manhattan Seattle on March 24, 2015 for my son's birthday. I was underwhelmed by the ambiance. I think they were going for rustic-chic, but missed. We were seated at a table for six, but the two seated at the ends could not scoot in to the table due to the large table legs on either end. The seats were very low so it was hard for me to sit down and get up due to arthritis.
Our guests were late due to traffic, but the staff was very understanding and the restaurant was not busy. I was surprised there were so few diners; but it was a Tuesday night and it filled up as the night went on. We chose this restaurant for the Dine Around Seattle menu.
We ordered our meals and it took 40-45 minutes to be served. Two of us ate the loaded fried chicken, two ordered the lobster mac 'n cheese and the other two ordered steak. All meals arrived very hot (which we appreciate), and everyone enjoyed their selections very much. The regular menu is a la carte and I think the prices are a little high.
Again, the food was very good and I would recommend this restaurant.
We were looking for a new brunch spot and had an incredible dining experience at Manhattan! Food was amazing, service was stellar and atmosphere A+! We'll come back to try dinner and certainly keep it on the 'brunch' list ... a great find !
Manhattan looked good in reviews, but did not live up to our expectations. The good was disappointing, the service was lackadaisical, and the ambience was not conducive to a satisfying experience. There are many excellent restaurants in Seattle, even on the neighborhood, I'm sure you can do better than this.
Seattle is not known for having amazing restaurants on every corner. Within the last few years, the food seen has grown substantially. Manhattan is one of those great new restaurants! Their food was well portioned and every dish was seasoned to perfection. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice dinner with someone special.
My boyfriend and I thought we were going to take part in the "Dine Around Seattle" menu, but were told upon arriving that the menu wasn't valid on the night we attended. Since we didn't want to break our reservation, we found a few things we wanted to try. He was underwhelmed by his Bouillabaisse, stating the broth was basically just tomato water. I enjoyed my steak, but to be honest our favorite item was the french fries, which were delicious. The night wasn't terrible, but I don't think we'll be going back.
Granted I had the social "dine around Seattle" menu, but for their full price options, I'd have been disappointed. Also, the service was mediocre. Certainly not bad, but there are so many better options in Capitol Hill.
The four of us arrived with an 11:30 reservation. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. We specifically stated before we sat down that we were in a bit of a hurry as we had 1p meetings and had driven to this restaurant. Server said it would be no problem. We ordered off the Dine Around menu. It took 20 min to prepare 2 tomato salads and 2 cups of soup. We all ordered the steak poutine, again 30 min or more to be served. Finally, we had to ask for our dessert to go as it was 10 min to 1 and we were going to be late returning to work. Don't order the bread pudding but the cheese cake was fair. Server was pleasant but when you stress about your departure time, the meal is not memorable.
Service was really poor - we waited for over 10 minutes without drink menus for a server to approach our table When he finally came and brought a drink menu, he hovered over us trying to rush us into ordering. We placed our drink and food orders together, but had finished our first course before the drinks arrived. When the drinks finally came, the waiter informed me he didn't have the wine I ordered so he gave me a different one at the same price, suggesting that I was getting a deal instead of giving me the option to order something else - unacceptable for someone in the service industry. All in all, service was poor and the food was mediocre for the price point.
I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone except for drinks.
It was an outstanding night from our server Jason down to the great drinks and wonderful food. They even showed us how to make our favorite drink The Rose Petal.
This was my second time dining at Manhattan. My first dining experience was one of my best in Seattle. That has changed drastically. First, the menu was a little disappointing. I have bragged about this restaurant numerous times for their ability to combine everything on the plate into a comprehensive meal. I usually eat everything on my plate one at a time, saving the best for last. On my previous dinner experience, I ordered the Cajun shrimp, filet mignon with cheese grits. Everything complimented so well that I enjoyed eating it all at once. Now it's a steak with sides. It was difficult to understand why they had changed one of their best assets.
The second issue was the steaks. Two of our four steaks were cooked poorly. Now I hate complaining about food at restaurants and if it had been a $15.00 steak, i probably wouldn't have minded that the rare steak was cooked medium. But when I pay $40.00 for a steak with no sides, that is ridiculous.
The staff was amazing. They promptly recooked the steaks to the proper request. But when you charge this much for a meal, you can't afford to make mistakes like this.
In the end they gave a generous discount on the meal, but I would have preferred to eat at the same time as my companions.
Honestly, if my second experience had been my first. I would have given a better review. But the bar was set so high after the first meal that they couldn't compete with themselves.
The food was delicious but the service was sub-par. Our waitress was friendly, however, the overall service was very slow. It took us over an hour to get our food from the time we ordered and this was on a Wednesday night and it wasn't that busy. Also, during this one hour wait, the waitress did not even come to our table to check up on us or to even say something about how she's sorry for the wait and that the food should be coming out shortly. I'm actually the one that had to wave down the waitress and ask about the status of our dinner.
Great waiter, not gushing, just the right amount of attentiveness and excellent eye contact.
Great food, great service. Love coming to Manhattan.
They didn't have a lot of the things their menu said they'd have: no hot chocolate, no pancakes, no bueno. Our son ended up earning bacon and french fries. Then we ordered the beignets and they were actually baked cornmeal balls coated in cinnamon sugar. Ugh!
Went for dinner this time and we were not disappointed. The service was great, and the food outstanding. I had the risotto, with vegetables that were crisp and flavorful. My date had the pasta dish and she loved it. The hot toddy was strong and warmed me up on a cold night.
Went here with some family on one of their recommendations. I had a perfectly fine experience, but my cousin received one of her orders an hour late, and the other order nearly two hours late. When asking the waitress about the state of the order she was very dismissive and rude. I personally had to wait at least half an hour to order because in spite of there being only one other party in the restaurant our waitress simply would not come to the table to take our order. But after ordering I received my food promptly, as did the rest of my family except for my one cousin.
On top of this very (selectively) poor service, we received the bill with gratuity added, and so had to request the gratuity be removed so we could properly tip based on our poor experience. My cousin gave an appropriate 0% tip, and the waitress had the audacity to try to talk to her about it.
From what my (other) cousin described this is normally one of her favorite places, so this may have been a new waitress who was having an off night. But watch out.
Had lunch on Black Friday. There were 6 of us and the food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. We really enjoyed the special of Mushroom soup. The macaroni and cheese is delicious. Rueben sandwich does not disappoint.
Steak was not worth $42. could've had a better one somewhere else for $25. It was not romantic and cozy like they said it would be. We were crammed right in between two other tables where we felt like we were part of their conversations. No intimacy at all. The waiter was very nice. The calamari was very boring and expensive for what it was. The overall ambience was not so special. Won't be going back....
Three of us went during Dine Around Seattle and took advantage of their discounted menu. All dishes were great, but did take awhile to prepare. I would recommend checking this place out, just don't be in a hurry.
Was there on a Sunday which is when a restaurant should be at it's weakest. They were out of a few items, our wait person was on her first day (other established wait people that helped out were more than awesome) and not so great. But hey, first day!
The food was absolutely amazing but was one up'ed by the cocktails. Love this place!
We hadn't been to Manhatten since last year, and had enjoyed it then and had always wanted to come back and try it again. It couldn't have been more enjoyable. There were four in our party, and we each had a different salad or appitizer, we each ordered different main courses, and again, had four different deserts. Everything was excelent without exception, and our waiter had the perfect presence - he took care of us perfectly without being too intrusive.
I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! (We dine out fequently, and it's rare that the food and the service are so right.)
This is a nice restaurant with good food. A very good place for the neighborhood.
I have been wanting to eat at this place for several months. Tonight I did. Before going to this restaurant I called and informed the hostess that I intended to use a $50 voucher from Amazon Local, and she told me that was fine. However, when I presented the voucher to our waitress she rejected it. When I told her about my conversation with the hostess and that the voucher was valid for Sunday evening, she made a $20 adjustment to the bill creating for me the need to insist on receiving the full $50 value of the voucher. It was annoying and embarrassing to have to deal with an inept waitress in the presence of my guest who looked on in bewilderment.
I was not blown away by the food but the bartender made it a good time. We had bloody Mary's and our bartender brought them to us personally. He had a great personality and was all about service. He was fun, likeable, enthusiastic and really made our experience great.
For a large restaurant, the Sat am atmosphere was warm and friendly. I had the Manhattan breakfast, with two sides - kale and hash browns. Everything was very quite good, including the service. My friend needs gluten free, and she had some good options. The menu does not have a wealth of options, but there were the usual choices. Coffee is not great, which is all too common in Seattle restaurants - quite strange.
with average reasonably-priced food and a great server! It's not an intimate or romantic atmosphere but much rather for groups. A large group of students from the nearby university fit in perfectly and seem to be happy. The manager and the server treated patrons with respect.
Four of us, one a veggie, all of us had a great brunch. The menu is varied, and has "traditional items" all with a slight twist, which makes them all delicious. The different variations of the bloody Mary are all worthy of a taste. They practically include an appetizer in them as a garnish.......As is typical with anything on Capitol Hill, the parking can be a pain.......
First time dining at Manhattan. Will not be our last. The veal and the duck breast were superb. The side of mushroom risotto was divine. Maybe next time I will have the entree size.
Service was just right. Our server was attentive without hovering over us and trying to hurry us out. When we needed another glass of wine or a beer, she was there at the perfect time. Otherwise, she left us alone to enjoy our dining experience.
The decor was poor leading to a lack of ambiance. It was a sterile environment. The service was poor. It took a long time for us to be waited on. Our drinks were sitting on the bar for some time before they were brought to us. The restaurant was not busy so that was not an excuse. Almost non-existent wine list. The food was poor. I had the veal w/ mashed potatoes. The veal was dry. There were hardly any mashed potatoes. It was not an accurate description of the dish. I will not return and will not recommend to friends.
Awesome food menu. Could have picked every item on the menu. Also Mimosa and Bloody Mary's were amazing. Great Garnishes on the BMs.
