Lovely to find a classy and classic Italian gem like this in the heart of nouvelle dining La Jolla. Terrific steaks, well-dressed and knowledgeable wait staff, old school NYC or Chicago feel. Loved it all.

The ambiance is moody, dark and old school New York, very cool. The wait to get our food was over an hour. We ordered and appetizer from the wait staff only to be chastised by the waitress that we “must go through her” and then it never came. She could only be described as surly. The steaks were good, the vegetables were AMAZING! don’t bother one the scalloped potatoes, thick, clunky and under seasoned. The cannoli was good but the cheese cake was lumpy with ricotta cheese. The music was good busy CRAZY LOUD, we had a hard time taking with our guests. Overall B-, but disappointed with all the hype surrounding this place. Maybe we waited too long to patronize this establishment and they are suffering from lack of help, just like many other places.

Table perfectly set with modern crystal rose vase and white table linens.Our server, Dawn, was professional and personable. I wonderfully experienced Caesar salad maker did a wonderful job tableside. The halibut special was exquisite and the carrots were unbelievably good. We enjoyed a French 75 and a vodka gimlet before dinner and Savignon Blanc with the meal. Capped the evening at the piano bar. Buy some Lesardo cherries so we can drink proper Manhattans and it would have been perfect!

It is so excessively loud in here. You cannot even have a conversation or hear yourself talk. Waiter was nonexistent. Empty drinks and water for most of the dinner. Crowd was sketchy at best. People walking in with their own drinks etc. will not return.

Always our favorite dinners at Manhattan. We appreciate the consistently fine service, the ambience, and the always excellent cuisine. The cannelloni is out of this world, and the penne with mushrooms and artichoke hearts never disappoints. Also love the bread! Thanks to all for a wonderful evening.

1st time dining in last night, 1 time previous to-go: food & cocktails were clearly 5/5, live music 5/5, booth 5/5, only sad & bad thing last night was my wife’s OVERcooked $60. Filet Mignon…wifey clearly requested MEDIUM (pink in center & outer area) & it was later delivered medium WELL to near WELL DONE (almost all gray). The server was told once we found her & she says we can wait (what 10 or 15+ mins?) for the kitchen to re-do it…? And what happens to the other diners just served & ready to eat? We said “no thank you” & she just ate it. The server disappeared after that for a long time…embarrassed? Yes, when the bill came, full price for the steak NOT ORDERED or WANTED. America. A yummy & memorable night nonetheless. Stick to non-steak dishes!

The separation of the piano bar from the portion of the restaurant that has booths enable you to have a drink while enjoying the music up close and then moving to the booth section where it is quiet enough to have a good conversation and yet hear background music.

I had the Alaskan halibut omg. Wonderful it’s was We ordered the zucchini chips which is a fairly new item to us. Salad with blue cheese dressing yum 😋 Nancy the owner has made this place in my opinion the best of the best in All of San Diego. First class and a cut above !!! The music was divine and the ambience was delightful

Slow service, place was very empty but took half an hour for a waiter to come take our order. Got ignored most of the time while there, unless you are a local they don't care if you are there. Food was bland and not worth it. Definitely screwed up my anniversary plans with the wife.

Our longtime favorite, Manhattan consistently provides top service and impeccable cuisine in a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. The excellent jazz trio was an unexpected delight and enhanced our birthday celebration. The veal piccata is still the best I’ve ever had anywhere else: the cannelloni cannot be topped! And the NY cheesecake was superb. Can’t wait to go back again! Thank you!

It is a charming old style Italian restaurant with delicious classic dishes. We ordered a cannoli with veal, shrimp scampi and shrimp fra diavola. All were prepared expertly and enjoyed. The table side Caesar salad is a must.

Absolutely one of my favorite places! The piano man was so fun, the staff is exceptional dressed in Tuxedos! The food was really really good. My husband and I split the filet oscar style, and the table side ceaser is a must!

Everything was great at Manhattan. Service was great - Brittany was outstanding. Food and beverages were great. Prices were good. The atmosphere was that of a plush east coast restaurant. The only thing I did not like was they added a "service" charge because we were a party of 7 and if it was posted on the menu or else where I missed it. I have always objected to this practice. You tip for service and fortunately it was excellent but if it hadn't been I would not have been happy. It also may have cost the staff a couple of extra dollars as I do tip for service. This will not deter me from going back.

We had a great waiter and ambience was nice. However the Caesar salad was almost tasteless and my wife's manicotti was just warm, not hot and had little taste. I had the scallops which were very good but there were only 4 of them for $40. I understand expensive food as part of the experience, but was not impressed by our visit there.

Two of four orders were problematic (that's 50%!) and required remediation. One was a kitchen problem, one was a waitstaff problem. A sign of the times? This classic restaurant used to be so reliable. Hopefully, that will return.

Kitchen seems to be variable: five weeks ago the food was as great (everything was as good as we could have hoped for) but last night (3/1/22) the same entree (cannelloni) was quite pedestrian. Shrimp scampi bland with way too much lemon. We'll try again next time we're in the area.

Manhatten's has been a family favorite since the 1980's. We celebrated a birthday and the service and quality of food was delicious. My favorite has always been the Chicken Florentine, but it seemed like it had a beef/vs. chicken base this time. Still delicious. Our table shared the table made caeser salad for 2 and we ordered a veal and pasta dish. The hot bread and butter was terrific as well. We will go back!
