Mango Peruvian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We ate at Mango a few years ago when they were in a smaller place, somewhat tucked off Washington. This new place is larger, with a great bar area, and plenty of space for diners. Nothing is cramped here.
The food is very good and is a great break from the usual "chic" food fare. Our server was attentive, quick, and friendly and took great care of us while dealing with a twelve-top.
It COULD use a more extensive wine-by-the-glass selection.
Valentines day 2018- Nice ambiance fantastic Pisco sour- Bartenders were frazzled- Food presentation and flavors were wonderful- Pacing was very slow- Restricted menu for the special occasion should have allowed the kitchen to flow much better-
If in St louis again I would consider a return visit- food quality and unique flavors are worth a return-0
We arrived on time for our reservation then had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Then we had to wait an hour in between courses, with little apology or acknowledgement and no offering of anything complimentary. The food was decent but not worth the price. The whole experience was disappointing and we won't be going back.
Great dinner at Mango last weekend. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and had a lovely time. Several of us had the mahi mahi special which was delicious. My husband apparently loved the birthday dessert - he did not share! Additionally we learned that they can accommodate Celiac's people, which is terrific.
The food was very good. It was a little hard to pick from the menu since we were not familiar with Peruvian food. The bus person was super helpful and nice. Better than the waitress. He kept checking on us and getting us more plantain chips and filling our water. Atmosphere is cool, and prices were not terrible expensive.
My family (including kids 13, 17, and 19). dined at Mango before seeing a show at the Fox Theater. The location was convenient and there was surface parking close by. The atmosphere was cool and the food was unique and very good. Portion size was large. We all agreed that we would definitely go back. Our server was super friendly. Very good experience!
Went here for NYE dinner, and as usual they never disappoint. The service staff is always attentive and engaging, and the food is consistently well-prepared and carries all the flavor I have come to expect of Peruvian fare. My wife and I have been coming here for about six years now and the service/food have stayed the course.
Another good experience at Mango. Four friends for lunch and well worth the 30-mile trip. The staff is very friendly and does all it can to meet your needs. My wife ordered an evening appetizer that is not shown on the lunch menu. The server said she'd check with the chef and they quickly said they'd prepare it. The mixed mushroom dish was again extremely tasty. Our friends had the chicken over rice and the mahi-mahi ceviche and were very pleased. Always a safe bet for a good meal at Mango
Service was very, very friendly, but occasionally quite slow, particularly at the bar. Do not hesitate to contact anyone if you are missing something. As soon as I did that it came promptly. The food and drinks were mostly very good and decently priced. I particularly enjoyed my machu picchu sour, but at $12, one was plenty. My fish entree was $32. I would never have ordered it if I had been paying for it myself. It was by far the most expensive and by far the least satisfying thing I ordered. It was just ok. The beet appetizer was spectacular and the simple dessert, the first on the menu, was quite delicious, and both were very reasonably priced. This was the best upscale food I have ever had in St. Louis, and the crowd was lively and obviously enjoying themselves. Sometimes the noise level was loud, but not oppressively so.
I was called twice by Mango to confirm reservation. Was surprised to have open table contact me the next day to indicate we were tagged as “No Show”. We were there and the issue was clarified.
This was my third time at Mango and the service was not what it used to be; perhaps a change in management? We were seated quickly but it took a while (15 minutes) for waitress to approach us. Rather than taking our drink order, the menu was reviewed. While we appreciated the review of the menu (left side small plates, right side entrees), our waitress abruptly left because we were missing the “specials” menu. Upon her return, that was reviewed and we were asked if we had any questions. So, we asked “can we please order a cocktail?” That took some back and forth as the waitress wasn’t aware what types of whiskey or rye were available.
We did order food and it came out pretty quickly and it was great although the beef empinanda we were served was frozen inside. The issue was rectified quickly.
They just seemed understaffed with some staff that was inexperienced but maybe that’s something they are trying to rectify. The food is great, the ambiance is fantastic and staff was polite. Just seemed off that evening but I would come back
