Mangiamo Ratings and Reviews
I can out to visit for a friend's birthday and my friend choose this place as it was a good location and close to where we were all going later. This was everyone in my groups first time at Mangiamo's and we all loved it. There was plenty of food adn it all tasted great. I am looking forward to going to Mangiamo's again on my next visit to MB. I will also note that we were a half hour late and they were still able to seat us on a Saturday night. Mangiamo's has a very nice atmosphere with great service!!
I was visiting LA and always look for good food when I am travelling. I picked this restaurant from the Open Table review and was not disappointed. I had the Smoked Pheasant Nachos appetizer. I was not disappointed with the taste and presentation but think that I would much rather have had it on a slice of Baguette or nice Italian bread. It came on a nacho - I kept tasting the 'fried' component that detracted from the lovely flavors of this lovely concoction. I will try this variation next time. The Crab Crusted Sea Bass was very good - cooked just right. The shrimp risotto was a bit heavy, but very flavorful. I will go back - interested to try other items on the menu.
The food was notable but the noise level detracted from our full enjoyment. I had the lobster special and it was good tasting though a bit tough and stringy. My wife had the veal osso buco which also was tasty but the veal was over done. We were seated in their back room which seemed special until other diners came and the dinner went down the hill. Tables are too close together and the patrons too loud.
We have been coming to Mangiamo's for over 25 years and are always happy with the food and the service. Our server Jason was great, very attentive and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant if you have never been. My 23 year old son who has grown up eating at Mangiamo's even joked we could come here everyday for a week, eat something different on the menu and always be happy.
Three of us ate here for the first time Sunday night and agreed we will visit again in the near future. Fabulous wine offerings. Menu was extensive. We all tasted each others dishes and approved of all of them. I am glad we had reservations. The place was jumping and noisy. We were in the middle wine celler room and even it was noisy. However, it was happy noise with a lot of laughter which is always welcomed to my ears. The service was very good and attentive with out being overbearing. I can't wait until spring is back and we will able to see the ocean late into the evening. The front door is 1/2 block from the pier. The sound and smell of the salty ocean was around us walking to the front door. But, the sun had set earlier.
When we first walked in the noise level was very high but very luckily we were seated in a far back room hat was great. We ordered the hot eggplant appetizers to share which were delicious. For our entrees we both had the veal, I had the parmigiana , my friend had the piccata, both tender and moist and delicious. It was a bitter cold night and we were served a small soup which was a very nice touch I'll be back
There is no better restaurant....its consistently outstanding..... Love the food, service. Parking is tough and the noise lever is high, but
its worth it because of the quality and variety of the food
The menu is second to none and varies just enough to make it interesting
Any restaurant that survives many years has to have a following. Over the years we have enjoyed the food and service but the close tables can be noisy. We were lucky enough to sit in one of the charming back areas and it was lovely. This night we were particularly struck by the excellent service. The hostess greeted us by name and knew that we had requested a certain table. The waiter was excellent - attentive but not pushy. If noise bothers you, go during the week. We all were very happy with the evening.
Love the restaurant, but on the night we went, unfortunately there was a table of women in the center of the dining room loudly, repeatedly woohooing in celebration of a friend's birthday. This went on for the entire time we dined, except for when the waiter brought their bill. It quieted the group for a short period of time. In retrospect, I wish I would have asked to be moved to the back room or left. We didn't enjoy our dinner : (
I'm sorry to say that the service was cold and distant compared to the other tables adjacent to ours. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday expecting a romantic dinner, but unfortunately the waitress left us feeling cold and unwanted feeling. While the food was good, we did not feel like staying for dessert due to the unpleasant impression that the waitress left on us. Honestly, we will not be coming back to Mangiamo's. My girlfriend and I appreciate the hostess, who greeted us with a smile and even took the time to explain the specials in such a welcoming fashion, only to be ruined by a displeasing waitress. Please commend the hostess on our behalf for being the only one to make us feel welcomed. It is much appreciated.
My husband and I arrived at Sunset on Halloween Night. The small bar area was full. The rest of the restaurant was empty. The hostess seated us at a table for two near the server's station. The owner came over and moved us to a more comfortable 4-top. He was so nice. They served some wonderful bread and butter. My husband ordered the crab crusted sea bass on shrimp risotto. It was beautifully presented and very yummy. I ordered the pumpkin tortellini. It was beautiful too. I am not sure what it was stuffed with, but it had pumpkin oil on top and lots and lots of pink peppercorns. I am not a big fan of whole peppercorns, but they looked pretty and I was able to scrap most of them off. We will be back!
I have dined here twice in the last few months. The food is amazing and very consistent. Great selection of seafood dishes and very fresh. My friend had the potato crusted Halibut and I had the Crab Stuffed Sea bass. Both were well prepared and delicious. They occasionally serve a tomato basil soup that is to die for. Serve is also very friendly with knowledgable staff. I recommend you book your reservations for the wine cellar area. It is much more quiet and romantic than the main dining room close to the bar. On weekends, it is a bit noisy. Wine selection is also great and reasonable compare to most other restaurants. Highly recommended!
I have been fortunate enough to eat here every time I'm in town on business. My clients and co-workers always ask if we are going back. The food is outstanding and they have a nice wine selection. The staff is friendly and the location can't be beat. Enjoy a great meal and then walk it off on the manhattan beach pier! Highly recommend!
Good-to awesome food. We have been there 3 times.
Servers are amazing- remembered our orders from the
Last time we were there! Very accommodating about dietary restrictions.
If you want a bar scene - it's next door - the brewery or across the street at the strand,
But enjoy great food first.
Mangiamo just does everything right. They make a great veal parmigiana, which nearly every other Italian restaurant on the West coast seems to get wrong! The service is classy, polite and warm. The interior is decorated with care and good taste. Very romantic.
It will be your favorite Italian restaurant once you've gone.
My friend and I were in town for one night and we searched for a delicious Italian dinner on Open Table. We found this great restaurant in Manhatten Beach, CA close to the ocean, and they were having "Pasta Night". This was a fabulous deal for $18! It was worth much more! A beautiful cozy little spot! All the menu offerings looked delicious and we were not disappointed with our choices!
Our waitress was both knowledgeable and friendly, she gave helpful suggestions which made our food experience as terrific as the food. We received soup samples from the chef which was so delicious I took some to go! We were a large party (7) with a couple of people from Texas who thought the restaraunt's proximity to the pier, the ambiance, and food were fabulous. I will definitely return.
I wasn't able to make my dining reservation as my friend's plane was late arriving from LAX. However, I called and explained my situation, and the restaurant was very accommodating. I came by and ordered take out and had a glass of wine while waiting. The food at Mandiamo is incredible. The service was also amazing. I hope to be able to return soon.
We went to dinner last Saturday. We were extremely rushed from the cocktails to dessert. The server came over three times to take our order while we were having our cocktails. We finally gave in and ordered dinner. I was finishing the last bite of my salad and still had the fork in my hand as the server came by and rapidly took the plate away. The dinner part was a little better as well as the dessert. Overall we were very uncomfortable and felt extremely rushed. We like to take our time and enjoy the experience and conversation, but not that night.
This restaurant has been here for years and i have been disappointed. The menu has a little of everything! My husband had lamb chops, i had the fresh fish Ono and our guests had crab leg pasta and vodka penne. All was delicious! Highly recommemd this gem! It doesnt disappoint!!
Our waiter was amazing and made our experience to be very memorable. The menu has something for everyone and the wine list has a good variety of Napa Valley wines. The seating is a bit close together but you get over it pretty quickly. I would recommend giving this place a try!
