About Mandu - K Street

Mandu's newest location, opened Jan 2011, is located at the City Vista building in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. Mandu opened on 18th St. in the fall of 2006 by Chef Yesoon Lee and her two children, Jean and Danny. Chef Lee presides over the kitchen making sure that the recipes and dishes taste as she was originally taught being raised in Seoul. Her specialty is creating homestyle Korean dishes that one would enjoy in her own kitchen. Jean and Danny run the operations and service, providing a fun and energetic environment that offers the comfort and ease of a neighborhood restaurant.

Fun waitress and the happy hour dumplings are a great deal and extremely tasty! All the food here is great! Not quite the authentic Korean bbq but a great restaurant nonetheless

They need to figure their service out. The restaurant was not crowded, but our host didn't take our order within 15 minutes of sitting. We had to leave. Obvious it was going to be a three-hour lunch, based on their service speed and quality.

There were flies circling our table all evening. This is the second time I’ve had this experience. It really makes the meal unpleasant. The food is great, the service is wonderful and it’s very reasonably priced. If they could just fix the bug issue, they’d be a home run.

The food was great, but pretty overpriced for Korean BBQ. Great service, seated quickly. House wine was expensive and sub par. Would go again for their brunch special, though! It looks amazing.

We had been looking for good Korean food in DC and Mandu hit the spot. Nice level of spice in the food and a knowledgeable server who took pride in knowing the dishes on the menu and explaining very thoroughly the techniques used in preparation. Good selection of cocktails also. Recommended.

Great food! Authentic Korean food, nice atmosphere, good service, although it took a very long time for our plates to be cleared and our check to be brought after we had finished eating. Loved the Chap Chea!

Mandu happy hour is my favorite spot in the whole city! The bibimbop in the hot stone bowl, the dumplings, and the cocktails are all amazing. Brian is usually our server when we sit on the patio and he makes our dining experience perfect every time!

Don't miss the happy hour sojutinis and mandu!! The mandu alone is worth the cab fare! It was just as crunchy & delicious as the street vendors in Seoul!

My husband had the bul go gi. He was a little confused by the presentation, but I reminded him that the leaves are customary - just not always included when you get it at other restaurants. It was different for the veggies to come on the hot plate with the meat, but he enjoyed them.

I had the vegetarian dduk bok gi. The flavor was sweet and spicy but not so spicy that you couldn't tell what you were eating. The mushrooms & noodles were perfect! I would have liked some more vegetables (maybe carrots & cabbage), but that's just a personal preference.

The ban chan was a little blander than I like, but again - that's a personal preference. The way it was seasoned would be perfect for someone that hadn't tried it before.

The service was attentive and we'll timed. I will definitely be back when I'm in DC.

Who can argue with $4 Korean cocktails and $4 bite size appetizers during happy hour? Entrees were fine, too, if a tad on the higher side. But I did take home a doggy bag, which was dinner the next night. So I guess the value is pretty good. I'd return.

Not sure if the server didn't hear our order correctly (it was very loud) but I asked for my dish without egg and it came with it anyway. My friend asked for a chicken dish but got beef. Food was ok; they accommodate gluten avoidance by not using marinated beef so the dish was bland.

I grew up on Korean food and this is as authentic as it gets. The Soon Doobu jigae was delicious as was the bulgogi and mandu. The service is fast, friendly, and fun. Can't wait to go back!

We were there for a Volleyball Team Dinner. What started out as 6 parents grew to 28 people including 10 teenagers. They were able to accommodate us upstairs for the entire team and we had a great time. We got there at 6:00 and was able to enjoy some drinks and appetizers for 1/2 price for an hour (Happy Hour 4-7pm). The waiter Jun and others helped serve all of us with multiple drinks, appetizers and entrees. A good time was had by all, good value, good food (Galbi, Bibim Bap and shrimp dumplings were the favorites) and good service. Even those who never had Korean food enjoyed themselves. Will be back same time next year.

The egg-batter pan fries zucchini was great as was the bulgogi and the beef short ribs. We absolutely loved the grilled vegetables too! Just wish they had a hotter spicy sauce. Otherwise, highly recommended!

I had the bimibap (the stone bowl variety) I can never leave it in the bowl long enough to get that good crisp on the rice, but other than that the dish is a terrific treat for your taste buds!! Always fresh and piping hot...I really like this place!!!
