We booked this place for our anniversary a month in advance however, the restaurant was closed once we got there!
Restaurant was closed for RENOVATION! Bummer . . .
It was closed for remodeling so Open Table made a reservation for me and my friends to a CLOSED RESTAURANT!!! Mad at Open Table....the restaurant, I have no idea how it would have been!
One of the worst services we had on Valentine's day. Menu choices were quite limited
Was here 2-3 years ago. Wonderful food, large servings. We split the salad and one entree and we were more than full. Nice room, perhaps too cool for February. Perfect location before a concert at Fox Theatre. Will go here again.
We had dinner with an out-of-town business associate. There was a lively neighborhood bar scene but the noise was muted. The atmosphere is lovely, very welcoming.
The cuisine is Greek/Mediterranean. The service was at a perfect pace.
Recommended for business or casual dining.
Love this place! Consistently great food and service.
Great food, authentic and tasty. Kabobs are superb.
great for a big party - had my birthday party here and everyone was happy with the food :)
We had a very mixed experience at Mandaloun. We had to wait at hostess stand for almost 15 minutes before being recognized and seated....waited 15minutes before they took our drink order, 15-20 minutes before receiving our drinks, and around 30 minutes to get our food. That said, the service people were very nice. The food was very satisfactory....I had the Bronzino, which was delicious. Perhaps they were short on help..... I would suggest they work on their service, and lower the lighting, it was very bright, complete with a flickering florescent can !
Not good. The menu online and in the restaurant is not updated which was a problem for us because there were no vegetarian options and food was quite bad but expensive
Food is great and service was pretty good. However, the waitress told us the restaurant will soon change to a steak house. That was bad news.
Great restaurant. Food is plentiful, healthy and very Mediterranean.
It’s very quiet and cozy place. We ordered chicken and salmon and both were amazing! I highly recommend this place.
It smelled like cigarette smoke and the lights were way too bright inside! The happy hour drinks were good.
Mandaloun has a lovely dining room, great service and food.
Great service and excellent cuisines.
I always enjoy the ambiance at Mandaloun, with a pleasant golden glow to the room, and a view to the kitchen with the open oven. The menu is varied, and I've never been disappointed with my choice. This time, I had the moussaka, which is the best I've ever had !
Very good Greek/Mediterranean food. A bit pricey but portions are big and quality is good. Would definitely return.
Very tasty Middle Eastern and Med foods. Very generous portions. Truly professional service at the bar and on the dining floor from a crew of Parisians. Reasonable prices. I'll be back for sure.
We were going to the theater very nearby and had an excellent leisurely dinner. The waitress was super. Food great. We'd even go for the 45 minute drive from the city to go again!
Great drinks- super unique and definitely worth trying. DO NOT ORDER THE GRILLED ARTICHOKE. They were not cooked properly and lacked in flavor. The service was amazing and the staff was very kind. We were quick to receive our dishes and the portions were quite big. The quality of the food was great- healthy. The hummus lacked flavor and the zaatar was a bit dry (might be a personal preference though). The fungi pizza is great but you have to like pita pizzas to enjoy this type of pizza. Overall the experience was pleasant but I don't know if I would come back since it lacked in vegetarian options.
We introduced some fiends to this restaurant the night we went to dinnet. Very authentic Eastern Mediterranean food plus items inspired by that area. Small plates or full dinners. The panchetta wrapped dates and the calamari are great. Their wood burning oven makes for great pizzas, chicken and fish. Their Moscow Mule is the best we ever had.
The staff were very attentive and helpful with menu and wine selections. The octopus appetizer was spot on perfect. Served on a perfectly seasoned bed of arugula. I could eat it everyday. Portions are large. The roasted chicken is a must according to my chef daughter. Appetizer sampler was enjoyed by everyone and all of us gave it two thumbs up.
Thank you Jaques, for taking such good care of us.
Delicious food and great service in a fun environment. Highly recommended!
Service was pretty good, but food was just alright
Took friends (foodies) from out of town. They picked a Mediterranean restaurant in San Francisco to try. I showed them Mandaloun's website and menu and convinced them to give it a try. We shared four appetizers, which were all delicious. We all loved our entrees. We took the waitress' suggestion on which two desserts to share and were not disappointed! The service was great.
I've been in a few times for lunch as I work nearby and love the place.
Really loud and hot. Need some air movement.
I am vegan and had a lovely meal at Mandaloun. The chef made a vegan risotto that was so creamy and delicious. We also had grilled artichokes, asparagus, Greek salad (minus the feta), bread and amazing hummus. Delightful!
It was good
This was a last minute choice and we were very pleased!
First time at this restaurant.
Food was good, very authentic.
Be sure you like Mediterranean food.
Went for lunch, only about 4 other tables
had people , service was friendly but slow.
A business meal with a vendor and they were very impressed with the ambiance and how great the food taste. They enjoyed the food, especially the sampler appetizer. If you want to impress out of towners and showcase all that is great about Redwood City, take them here!
My sister and I are not familiar with Redwood City but found ourselves there with an opportunity to catch up over dinner. We decided on a few glasses of wine and several appetizers to share. $70 total.
The ahi was delicious, our favorite in fact. We also got the sampler with loads of dips. The banbganoush was great, as was the humus. Not crazy about the taziki or whatever the white dip was- not quite sure what it was trying to be.
Lastly we had the grilled artichokes which still had the fuzzy centers in. Those need to be removed before serving! The artichoke needed more seasoning - lemon and salt please- and more cooking. They weren't soft enough.
Overall the food wasn't as good as expected, but it's a lovely atmosphere and terrific service. We didn't have anything beyond the appetizers so I will give this place another try when I can explore the menu more.
The food was great. I also loved the ambience. The server was really nice and quite helpful in suggesting dishes according to our taste.
I have been there twice for dinner and they have exceptional food for the price, top notch service and a nice variety. This is my choice of places to go in this area if I am having a business or casual meeting. The facility is beautiful and we can hear each other talk!
Our waitress easily accommodated our request to move farther away from a large group which came in after we did. My wife's ribs needed a darker sauce, but my souvlaki was superb. Dessert was home-made and also noteworthy. The wine list included a good zin at a modest price.
The two of us enjoyed a meal before an event at the Fox Theater, which is close by. We would do that again. There a plenty of choices on the menu and a lengthy wine list.
We loved the food, the interiors and the service. We all ordered different dishes and each one was delicious! The restaurant is beautiful but it is a little noisy. Might not be the best place if you want intimate conversation. If only they could put a few carpets around to absorb sound it would be PERFECT!
