Manchego has always been one of the best kept secrets in Santa Monica, and now locals can enjoy our bigger, more accommodating space that offers outside dining on our beautiful patio. Always a great spot for romantic dates or meeting up with friends and family.
We also added a specially curated Spanish wine list that offers mainly small-production, unique wines. Our Spanish wine distributor spends his time traveling the Spanish countryside, sourcing hard to find wines from small, mom-and-pop wineries. The wine list also includes a few South American selections and a great local, organic wine.

The food was excellent and the service was good. But it’s sooo dark in that place you literally can’t see your food. And the tables are too close together. It’s a small space and they tried to cram as many tables as possible.
wondering again a year visit later thank you
My husband first found your place about a year ago. We love Manchego!! (Also, manchego is my all time favorite cheese.) I have taken two sisters there (separately) and they love it as well. Your dishes are delicious and flavorful. The portions are perfect, and your prices are not bad. I always love when the dishes are served hot, as intended. The bacon wrapped dates are incredible, Manchego mac and cheese version with bacon is delicious, garlic shrimp is good, deviled eggs are refreshing . . . so many great dishes . . . still more to try. Being very honest . . . the short rib portion size and presentation is good, but maybe change the sauce (not to my liking). Miguel served us, and a previous time as well. He is so pleasant and professional, and adds to our overall wonderful experience. Thank you for providing a beautiful place to enjoy a wonderful meal. We love our visits to Spain, and you bring us back each time we go to Manchebo :)
Great ambiance and food was outstanding. Unfortunately we made a reservation for 8pm not realizing their NYE hours were different (10pm close was all I saw on the website and google), closing at 9pm instead of 10pm. So it was a stressful and rushed dinner that neither of us were able to properly enjoy. Perhaps holiday hours should be posted for future dates to prevent this for other guests.
We really enjoyed the restaurant. The server, Everett, was very helpful in navigating the menu and making recommendations based on our preferences. The "Tapas style" of eating is a lot of fun and allows for trying lots of new things.
Excellent neighbourhood Spanish restaurant with good food and wine. Good service levels are the table but greeter process was a bit rude and clumsy leaving you ignored and waiting in the street. Some popular dishes were already sold out early evening. Would return.
Some dishes were excellent and others were just OK. That inconstancy was a bit surprising. For example the burrata salad was amazing, the croquetas were just OK, then the fig and goat cheese was delicious, but the skirt stake was just good.
We loved the ambiance, we will definitely go back, but...yeah.
Very small restaurant with small, uncomfortable and rickety chairs. Food was very good as was the service. There was a very loud party near us that made it difficult to hear each other. All in all, very good, but not fabulous.
Sangria was great - fig goat cheese appetizer a must
Gute Weinauswahl!
Everything about this place was just beautiful. The intimacy of the restaurant, candlelit tables, the playlist that resembles my own, great staff, delicious food and wine selection. I lived in Spain and find myself missing the food and wine so much. We started with the cheese and meat platter. Chorizo Soria was my favorite. We then had 3 dishes that were AMAZING! Wish I had a better description word but honestly they were all sooo good. Definitely recommend the Gambas, Brussel sprouts and lamb tapas. Then we concluded with dessert because no meal is complete without dessert. The flan was so creamy and yummy topped off with the perfect strawberries. My wife doesn’t like strawberries but she said these were so good.
Service was exceptional- food is consistently fantastic. We love everything about Manchego.
fantastic - always. I could get everything on the menu 100 times.
Went there for my sister bday during happy hour and ordered all appetizers & Sangria. Loved the food and the price!!
A little disappointed in the Jamon. It seemed like fresh ham and not cured. The octopus and potatas bravas reminded us of our dining while traveling in Spain. Overall, it was a delightful evening. I really like the small environment.
Manchego is a great find in Santa Monica. Small, intimate restaurant with attentive service and wonderful food. Happy hour every night is and a great way to get the food and drinks started. We enjoyed the Goat cheese and fig tostada, garlic Shrimp, kale salad, and stuffed dates. Sangria is nice but a bit bland. Make a reservation as this restaurant is small.
Food was really good. Service was also really good. Slightly pricey? Maybe. Would recommend.
Underwhelming food for the price, brunch items were disappointing. Good mimosa though!
Exceptional service and delicious food. Never disappoints. A place where practically anything you order off the menu will satisfy
Both the food )
So Cute & romantic tapas bar
The host I think his name was Alejandro was extremely nice even though we were late
Our waiter Joseph was so great
The food & atmosphere amazing
Can't wait to go back there
Food was great. We ate in their enclosed patio. VERY noisy due to a water feature, all hard surfaces. And people packed in. Also very humid, dank feeling. Only go here if you can save seated in the dining room. Even this room is overcrowded. They should have fewer tables. You can barely walk through the room without mistaking people in each side if you.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant
The food was not creative, has a corporate feeling to it. Most dishes came with the same slices of bread, so it became boring after a couple of dishes. Red Sangria was on a sour side, not pleasant to drink. I don't think I'll be back.
But I would also recommend that they never show up prior to 5pm or they will be left waiting on the sidewalk and never park on Main Street where parking meters don't work correctly. I put coins in meter at 4.45pm for 3 hours and when I returned to the meter at 7.30pm I had a $53 parking ticket that was issued at 5.30pm in front of Manchego's host who knew I was in restaurant!!!
Had a great night at Manchego Saturday night. Was apprehensive when we first came in because the front room is pretty tight and noisy. However, we were escorted to the back which is a great room with a water feature and bench seating with pillows etc - great ambiance. Our server was really wonderful, since we were a party of 4 and most tapas came with 3 per order he just adjusted the order to include an extra and upcharged a bit. This worked out well! We tried a bunch of stuff - fig and goat cheese tosatada, meat and cheese plate, deviled eggs, anchovies, pork belly(YUM), lamb chops(REALLY YUM), short ribs and I feel like I'm leaving something out... but all was so good. Great wine list - had dessert (one of each - loved the churros). I know we will go back!
Good tapas but was missing the paella. We really liked the croquettes (mushroom was way better than the cheesy spinach one), Spanish omelet was delicious, and my boyfriend really enjoyed the hanger steak with mashed potatoes. We walked around after dinner because the restaurant is on a cute street next to a neighborhood garden. We went during happy hours and got a deal on sangria.
We love Manchego and we’re never disappointed. The Spanish tortilla and the croquetas are our favorite but the goat cheese and figs on pan tostado is also outstanding. All three desserts are superb. We had all three because they are all equally delicious. I just wish they would carry some non alcoholic beer for those of us that don’t or cannot drink alcohol. Can’t wait to be back!
LOVE LOVE LOVE their happy hour and staff. def going back =))))
The food was delicious but not inventive, sangria was strong in the best way. We had the best waiter though! Extra accommodating and attentive.
It was our first time eating at this restaurant .
We loved it we will be back . Our wait staff and front of the house person were so great .
they were a little delayed in getting us a couple of dishes but they more than made up for it by being genuinely apologetic and providing us complimentary dessert and carafe of sangria! food was delicious and it while it was definitely not quiet, the noise level was very tolerable.
Manchego is one of those great restaurants that is very socially diverse. I was having a date with my long-time girlfriend, the couple next to use was on their first date. There was a family just beyond them. It's quite a dark interior, and the candlelight on the table provides a nice ambiance.
The food is equally delectable. The rack of lamb was tender, and the chocolate cake was to die for. The most interesting plate was the jamon-wrapped dates filled with goat cheese.
The service was great as well, with the kind waitress recommending good pairing of wine to our food.
From the minute we were greeted by the friendly and warm host to the flavor busting tapas to the wide smiled prompt service by our waiter... From the minute we were greeted by the friendly and warm host to the flavor busting tapas to the wide smiled prompt service by our waiter...the whole experience was completely satisfying and left a memory to relive soon. Even the manager made us feel special! I tip my hat off to you Machengo!
Like being in Spain! One of the best restaurant experiences in Los Angeles.
Tapas are small plates. These were meals. No original flavors, and the extremely loud fountain did not improve the experience.
Amazing food. We loved sampling all sorts of dishes. Don't miss the brussel sprouts. Only downside was that it got loud as the place filled up. But definitely a place we'll be visiting often.
The food was very very good!!only exception to our perfect dinner we’re the albondigas (meatballs), not as tasty as I had hoped. But very cute and romantic interior with a back room with water fall that was a bit loud...I’d suggest less water! Staff were great. Def coming back!
We went for happy hour and the food and wine was all amazing. We split 6 menu items between
Manchego was lovely and very accommodating as we were running late for lunch and had to push the reservation back. This was for a special Sister Trip occasion, and this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the ambience great and service was outstanding. Worth it!
