Mamma Tanino's Ristorante
The Pasta is genius, nuff said! But I'll say some more, really liked the Italian wine, the Owner's are so friendly and welcoming and really take care of you. Customer service is excellent, but the food is so authentic, not your typical Americanized version of Italian. I can't wait to go again.
Small place in a shopping center with impeccable family service and the food was straight from Italy. Some of the ingredients came from the owners garden. The place was full of locals and they were curious how I found it. I highly recommend this restaurant! :)
Some of the very best Italian food around. Our friends raved about it all evening, into the next day. Extremely friendly, warm, and inviting environment!!
The proprietor hostess had body odor. One of the dinners was very salty. However, the antipasti plate & dessert were excellent.
Usually we love this restaurant but this time the fish dish smelled and the salty potatoes and undercooked vegetables were disappointing. The two pasta dishes ordered by friends were delicious as usual.
The ambience was tainted by the overly casual, substitute (?) server. She couldn’t remember what wine we asked for and told people at another table how “tired” she was when she forgot something. The owners here are great and the food is usually terrific.
On a night that their bus boy didn’t make it to work - food was flawless we were alerted that service might be off as it was All Hands on deck. They never missed a beat. An absolutely amazing meal. My husband and I have lived in the wine country for decades and somehow missed this treasure. We were so happy to be back for a long weekend and to discover it with friends. Amazing wine list , the chocolate soufflés were perfection.
Always a great experience from service to food. Such an excellent place to dine!
Let me just say when the owner greets you warmly, opens your wine, takes your order and then checks on your food its pretty special! And the food matched the service. Hugs at the end with all and what a memorable experience.
Mamma Tanino’s never fails to deliver the best dining experience. Delicious food, attentive service and did I mention delicious food.
Alway delicious authentic Italian dishes, based on available fresh local ingredients. Friendly attentive staff. One of our go-to’s for a quality meal. A favorite, family owned, restaurant.
We visited Sonoma for the first time and found Mamma Tanino’s on trip advisor. It had great reviews and our experience was exactly the same. We were greeted warmly and treated like family. The food was amazing. I had the best of everything that I had ever had, the best calamari, the best veal and the best tiramisu! I wish we didn’t live in North Carolina so we could go back again soon. Maybe someday! Don’t miss this restaurant. You won’t be sorry!
Mamma Tanino's is bar none, the best Italian restaurant in Sonoma, and maybe the county. It was my husband's birthday, and we wouldn't have gone anywhere else!
We have lived in Sonoma for over 5 years and I cannot believe we have not been to Mamma Tanino's! The menu changes daily and I ordered a veal chop that was so delicious and the pasta was also a hit. Love the family feeling and well prepared food. Can't wait to go back.
Loved our meals. The lamb chops were delicious, and the veal was so tender I didn’t use a knife!! Delicious apple dessert. Everything was tasty and service was wonderful.
we were in town for one night and was looking for a restaurant that had good food and not overly fancy. Mamma Tanino's had good reviews so we tried it and now wish it was closer to home so we could go more often. We had a great time
Best rustic & authentic Italian in the North Bay. We will continue to eat here regularly.
If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out!!
Amazing food as always and fantastic service! To die for eggplant parm, fig-mushroom-pancetta pappardelle pasta and caprese salad tonight! Delicious wine ... Gaetano is masterful in the kitchen and Kim is an amazing host! We love his place. Favorite food in Sonoma (and I’m a picky Italian eater from NY) - cannot day enough! GO!
We made a reservation and arrived on time, but weren’t seated for another 20 minutes. We understand that sometimes that happens, but it would have been nice if someone had offered us a drink while we had to wait. Once seated, the server... and there was only one... was very nice but very rushed. The seating area was small, and was a little loud for our taste. Not great ambience. Once dinner arrived though, we really enjoyed it. The food was very good. Not much of a wine list, but adequate. With so many other good options, probably would not return.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Sonoma and -in my humble opinion- the best overall restaurant in town. The seafood is always fresh, fresh, fresh and everything is seasonally ripe. We shared the "small" burrata antipasto platter- Kim said get the little one and she was right. Extremely generous servings of 4 kinds of Italian meats , a nice chunk of excellent burrata, some tomatoes from their garden. Yum, yum. I had the special tagliatelle with fresh porcini and figs--wow was that good. My friend had the petrale sole that was served with smashed potatoes and chard. The fish portion was so generous she couldn't eat it all. Every time I eat here I say "Why don't I come at least once a week?" It's that good. Mangiamo. Tutti a tavola!
Best Italian food in Sonoma and the service is great!
Terrific food. New server, so a little spotty, but he tried very hard. Our second time in a month. Already thinking of going back ! Book a few days ahead, as the place was busier than last month.
Absolutely delish! The best Italian food in Sonoma! Thank you Mama Tonino's!
Best Italian food in Sonoma
Really great Italian food!! like you are at your Italian Grandmothers :) super reasonably priced.
There are too many great restaurants in Sonoma to give a second chance to a mediocre Italian dining experience. This family-owned establishment struggles with ambience and the servers are a little scattered. Be prepared to wait on busy nights after being seated.
The food was just ok, uninspiring and three of our guests had a touch of the stomach woes the next morning after eating at Mamma’s. If your’e a wine lover, don’t expect a lot of choices from the Valley, only average Italian producers which makes no sense when in the middle of Wine Country.
Overall, it was a bit of a misfire.
We’ve been going to Mamma Taninos’s for 5 years. Every meal is outstanding. Consistent high quality. Chef Gaetano and his wife Kimberly have the best restaurant in Sonoma.
One of the best Italian bistro of california!
Outstanding and very consistent and extra friendly
Love Mama Tanino’s! High quality food and great people
The food is really good, however the ambiance didn't feel special or charming compared to some of the other restaurants in the town square. We were celebrating a 70th birthday but were crammed into a little table (6 of us) and I think would have preferred a restaurant that felt more lively and had a full bar. The food *is* definitely good and it is definitely a hidden gem, but I would not recommend this restaurant based on ambiance alone.
Service was excellent! Food was out of this world! Not really a special occasion, it’s just a special occasion when I get to come there
Love Mamma Tanino's! Hands down, the best Italian restaurant in Sonoma, and maybe Sonoma county. The closest I've ever tasted to my Sicilian grandmother's cooking.
Amazing and authentic Italian food!!
We were on a weekend getaway, and found this gem. The chefs wife was the hostess and served us, felt like real family hospitality. The Eggplant dish was perfect, and the pasta special was great. Fresh, simple and cooked with love. Would go again in the future. Grazie!
The owners of this lovely little hideaway offer you the whole experience. A warm welcome, service from the owner that makes you feel like your in their home accompanied by a well thought out meal prepared with love by the other partner/husband😊
Mama Tatino's is my favorite Sonoma ristorante! It is a hidden treasure that I never miss on my visit to northern California. Thank you for being consistently a pleasure.
The plating was not impressive in any way. My swordfish was dry and a bit over cooked. It could have used a bit more of the lemon wine sauce. Minestrone soup was very good. I could hardly taste the dressing on my salad. Our server was exceptional and did not stop all evening but poor man a little too busy to be as conscientious as I felt he wanted to be. Dessert cannoli was good. I’m sorry I was disappointed and I feel extremely uncomfortable to complain to staff. I felt the dishes were not up to par but edible so I would not send them back to the kitchen. For the hype and pricing I expected more.
As always, the food was great and we had a very good time! Thank you!!!
