Mamma Susanna's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Wow! Authentic Italian cooking. There were three of us on this occasion, and our entrees each came with a different sauce, picatta, Gorgonzola, and mushroom.
I have not experienced better sauces anywhere. Service was prompt, with just the right amount of attention.
Great meal, and a real neighborhood gem of a place.
This is a little gem tucked away in a small strip mall. It is a very small family run business. The food is inexpensive, DELICIOUS, and large portions (we usually share a meal). All the family works here, and it shows. Everyone is soooo friendly and they treat every customer as they are the only customer in the restaurant. We feel like we are part of the family by the time we leave. When it's full, it can be a little noisy, but we just felt like everyone was having fun with all the laughing going on. We have been back several times, and will continue to go back!
Our experience was mixed but I would be willing to give them another try. The good: my husband's lasagna was very good. Flavorful and a good serving size. The bread which accompanied dinner was scrumptious - flavored with rosemary and soft and doughy. The chocolate mousse for dessert was also pretty good. The bad: bruschetta was served on soggy every day toast. My Fettuccini Milanese was average. The menu said "jumbo prawns and scallops" but they were actually on the small side. The scallops were rubbery and a few of the mussels were inedible as the shells did not/would not open. The service was fine. Overall, good and bad but worth another try.
My wife and I went there (on our date night). I had never been to that area of town and the other reviews looked good. So we went. The service was OK to good. The Owners/staff were very polite and pleasant, much like a family dining experience should be.
My wife and I are more into a low carb diet than what they offer (it's Italian, my "bad")
But, all in all, it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend this place to others ( good value).
After a long absence, we returned for a dinner at Mamma Susanna's the other evening. We were joined by a couple of friends and we all agreed that it was an enjoyable experience. We all had our favorite pasta dishes, accompanied by a bottle of Bogle Pinot Noir. The service was very friendly and attentive. We will be back, again, soon.
Mamma Susanna's Ristorante Italiano is the hidden gem in East Sacramento. The food is outstanding and the small, family atmosphere is warm and relaxing. It is an ideal place for special occasions or just a night out. I suggest you try one of their appetizers and save room for desert.
Came here on a Sunday night for dinner, thanks to groupon for introducing us to this restaurant we might have never stumbled upon. Ron was our server and he was very attentive and gave great customer service. Started with complimentary bread, then moved on to the clams and caprese as our appetizers. Both very good. Next was our entrees, very generous portions of fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and mushrooms and tortellini with chicken and mushrooms. Both were delicious! We added a little pepper flakes to spice it up a bit but was just as good without, Alfredo sauce was perfect. Then came the dessert which was unbelievable, best tiramisu I have ever had and the richest chocolate mousse ever. 1 dessert could easily be shared by two people. Overall everything was great.
I have been here numerous times before throughout the years. I have friends who work out of state and when they come home this is where they want to go. It is a great place. Good food~huge portions. The staff are friendly and just amazing. It's a great location. I highly recommend it!
I really enjoy the good food, fresh ingredients & the service at this small, local restaurant. I have not had a bad meal here & always leave satisfied! Artichoke & jalapeño dip is great, bruschetta is awesome because it is on softer toast which makes it easier to consume & the limoncello dessert is a fabulous light finish to the meal.....
Wait staff hustles & is on top of anything you may need.....
Try it to nite 😊🍝🍷🍧
Had dinner with friends at Mamma Susanna's, our first time there. It's a quaint little place, and our server, Brianna, was delightful. The food was moderately priced and plentiful. My wife did say she wished her pizza had a little more sauce on it, but other than that we were both very pleased with our meals. This isn't Biba or Visconti of Folsom, but for a quiet locale in which you can enjoy good Italian comfort food, it fits the bill. We'll be back.
Used a Groupon for this. Servings were huge-we could have split. Had the Veal Parmigiana and Veal Gorgonzola, included soup/salad & dessert (Tiramisu was excellent) Server, Ron, was excellent with recommendations, wine & personality. A little far for us to go & traffic was a nightmare (Howe Ave.) would go again for lunch or an earlier dinner.
We always enjoy Mamma Susanna's, and this time did not disappoint. We used a Groupon Coupon, which provides a darn good deal. Good food with gluten-free and whole wheat pasta options. Portions are generally generous. They were able to accommodate a few modifications to the entrees that we asked for. On a Wednesday night, the owner herself waited on us, and she was great. High marks for Mamma Susanna's!
We had a craving for good old spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta arrived hot and cooked just right. But the meatballs were so tough that they could only be cut by stabbing with a fork and sawing with the knife. I only ate one of the three, which says everything because I'm a member in good standing of the Clean Plate Club.
The food was delicious and the service was great. Everything was very authentic Italian and they didn't skimp on the ingredients. They used quality ingredients and the portion size was huge. Tons of flavor and the desserts were like a five-star restaurant. We were served by the owner who was very friendly and it was very heartwarming to see that all of her children worked in the restaurant with her.
I had the salmon with the artichoke dill sauce. The sauce is absolutely delicious. My salmon was a little dry and overcooked, but the sauce helped it out a bit. This is the second time I have had this salmon. The sauce was perfect both times. Last time my salmon was perfect, this time, it was a bit thinner piece which is probably why it was overcooked. Anyways, I would go back and have it a third time.
