Superior local and seasonal ingredients distinguish our Italian cuisine. Our menu is updated daily to reflect market changes. Our setting is historical and unique. Five elegant dining rooms ( most with views of the city) are tucked throughout an antique brick townhouse overlooking North Square in the heart of Boston's North End neighborhood.

Lovely outdoor patio dining. Food was yummy. Waiter brought my daughter a slice of cake with stenciled congratulations when he learned it was her high school graduation dinner.
Food was, as always, outstanding. Also the server was a professional with a really helpful knowledge of the food and preparation--attentive and just there when needed.
Nice ambience setting. Awesome atmosphere. Lovely scenery. Good food. Great weather for outdoor setting dinning.
This was one of the most magical, enjoyable, and delicious experiences we have had dining in Boston. It truly feels like you are in Italy - sitting outside in a stone court yard set back from the main road. The wait staff are simply amazing from waiters to bus boys. Everyone is exceptionally polite and kind. The food is simply amazing. From appetizers to pasta to entrees and dessert - every course brings new levels of delicious! This is a must visit restaurant in the North End.
You would have to vacation in Italy to match the wonderful ambiance of Mamma Maria’s outdoor seating. North Sq is so picturesque with cobblestone streets and beautiful old buildings.
Food quality was good. I’ve dined here several times pre-pandemic, and I remember the menu being a bit more inventive than it is currently. Bread was sort of dense, and at this price point, I’d maybe suggest a basket with more than one type. I wasn’t overawed, but it was an enjoyable meal and the handmade lobster ravioli was fantastic.
Amazing food and experience. Food and presentation were top notch. We requested a three course meal, every dish that we shared was spectacular. Great and friendly service. We had the best seat in the house. Terrace overlooking Little Italy. Definitely will come back !!!
Everything perfect , highly recommend
My wife’s birthday. Everything was perfect. Maybe the best Lobster Pasta ever!!
Everything was perfect! Sitting outside the service, food and drink and everything was outstanding! Cannot wait to go back!
Wonderful food and service like usual!
The restaurant was very crowded for a Thursday evening, we should have eaten outside. Nice decor. Food was good. Service was excellent!
Fabulous! Truly a special place!
Brought my mom and aunt here and they loved it. Enrique our host was very welcome and had great recommendations. He made our experience.
Birthday dinner with table of 8 dining outdoors. exceptional service and waitstaff. delicious food which had options to suit many dietary restrictions. Recommend highly!
Literally our all-time favorite restaurant anywhere! Mo the manager has become a cherished friend & Hacene provided us w/ excellent service. As always, the food was outstanding!
Expensive Italian restaurant, but well with the money. Attentive, knowledgeable staff, delicious food, great location in North End.
I was alone and had a 4:30 reservation to sit at the bar The food, service, and conversation were all excellent!
Had dinner here last night for my second time. First I want to complement our server Mario who was very warm and friendly and helped us with the menu in making our selections.
We started with two cold glasses of a crisp Prosecco and a bottle of San Pellegrino with fresh lemon. Out came the assorted savory olives and bread with a fabulous pesto. Then we shared a tuna tartar with a hint of truffle oil, Delicious and a warm Burrata with cherry tomatoes exploding with flavor. For the main courses fruté de marre with cod from Gloucester and an Ossa buco with a saffron risotto. We enjoyed a fabulous 1/2 bottle of a Barolo with the main course. For dessert a pana cotta and Limoncello.
What a great meal will definitely be back my next visit to Boston.
Still setting the Boston standard for high end elegance in Italian dining, Mamma Maria occupies three floors of a building fronting historic North Square, steps from the Paul Revere house. The best carpaccio I know of serves as the perfect light appetizer for the delicious courses to follow. This is the only place where I am confidant ordering Osso Bucco, a house speciality.
Awesome loved it !
Ovi was our server and he was excellent in every way. The service was excellent. Attentive water refresh and busing of dishes to remove clutter between courses. Food
Was excellent. This pleasant
Experience began at the moment we checked in for our res.
EXCELLENT: we came here to celebrate my wife birthday and the food and service was incredible. Hacene, our server, was amazing, very friendly and gave us excellent recommendations on what to order. We order Fave Beans, Lobster Pasta and Ossobuco. You can skip the Beans but the other two were out of this world. 100% recommended.
Fantastic food, fantastic ambiance, fantastic service....FANTASTIC!!
Not much to say, excellent as always. Mamma Maria’s has become our go to restaurant when in the North End!
Mamma Maria is a more refined restaurant than many of the basic North End Italian spots, and also more expensive - but well worth it for the excellent service and arfully prepared food. They have a lovely outdoor area in the square that is very pleasant on a nice summer night - I hope they can keep it after Covid ! I had pappardelle with rabbit, delicious.
Truly outstanding in every respect...until the two very drunk young women were seated next to us and the volume soared with language no one needs to hear. Luckily we were on our way out! But didn’t let it ruin a fabulous meal!!
Last dinner of our Honeymoon.
Favorite restaurant in the North End. Never disappoints.
Anniversary and birthday
Overall wonderful experience!!! This was recommended to us by Audrey of Boston Foodie Tours & we were not disappointed !!! Everything was amazing!!!
It was my birthday dinner and we didn’t tell our waiter, but he sent a complimentary dessert with a Happy Birthday message on it. He must have heard us talking about it being my birthday. His attention to detail was much appreciated by us! Love the outdoor seating ambiance. The food was impressive (fig & prosciutto as our app, rabbit pasta and lamb three ways for our main course). We would definitely come back again. Thank you for a lovely dinner!
We got the perfect weather for our dinner. Outside dining here is great. On the doorstep of Paul Revere’s house.
Cod on risotto with calamari was my dish. Daughter had the Summertime Pasta Ravioli.
Food was great and Ovi was our excellent server.
We absolutely love Mama Maria's restaurant. It's our second visit and it is such a beautiful night out. Everything is so delicious and fresh. The staff is so courteous, going out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying yourself.
Outdoor dining in the square was excellent on a Tuesday evening. Perfect weather after
a bout of rain made it all the more appealing. Food was excellent; small portions made trying several things over a few courses easy. We loved it.
Wonderful service and food!
Table seated beside us was disruptive. Worst of all, the wait staff allowed it and engaged with them to the point that it affected their ability to maintain a consistent level of service with our table.
The last straw was when they began making political proclamations at us, anti-vax statements, and playing Sinatra music at the table. We knew we had to leave during the antipasti. Regardless of whether this place makes good food, their professionalism is lacking. We’ve since been warned about north-end tourist-trap Italian restaurants and now know better.
We won’t be coming back.
Raphael our waiter was fantastic. The food as always the best!! Thank you
One of the best romantic places I’ve been in. Their signature lobster pasta dish is insanely good
We had a party of 4 and all ordered different meals, each of us were entirely pleased with the quality of our meals. The one that stood out the most was the lobster pasta, absolutely delicious!
