The menu can be different every day. Our menu had good diversity. The wine by glass options were solid. Look forward to experiencing a new set of choices on our next visit.
The service was attentive, adaptive and professional.
Been here 6 times now. I have never been let down. Excellent service, excellent food, cool part of town. Of course it is expensive, most things are in Boston. This is worth it.
Loved it great for a date night. Exquisite flavors
One of our favorite Italian restaurants
We have visited Boston twice and during both visits gone to Mamma Maria's and never been disappointed. The food is delicious!
Came recommended from a local and he was right. Incredible Italian.
We had a splendid time and meal. Both the meal and service were top notch. Yes, the restaurant is in a tourist location -- and the price reflects such -- but hey we were tourists. We would definitely return.
Very special evening with our daughter who had just run the Boston Marathon. Waiter was very good and his recommendations were spot on.
Wonderful setting, delicious food and great service!!
Ate here the night before the Boston Marathon. Pasta was excellent!
Emer was a great server and made our experience enjoyable. Every person in my part ordered different dishes, and we all loved them. The oysters appetizer was especially amazing!
Old school Italian at its finest!
Excellent service. Comprehensive wine list. Great food. Not cheap.
Great service. Delicious food. Beautiful dining room. A perennial favorite.
Great food and ambiance
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere!
The server was not very polite and not helpful in selecting dishes. We asked if they could make a caprese salad which was not on the menu and she said no. On are way out the door, we saw two caprese salads on a table, clearly there is a double standard.
awesome and delicious , service was perfect and very nice selection of wines.
I am surprised this North End restaurant is rated so high. My sense is that it is because most diners are tourists and they haven't tried other North End restaurants. Our experience was just 'ok' as was the food. The appetizers were the most memorable of our meal. We had reservations via Open Table and still ad to wait about 10-15 minutes before being seated in a small, square room with no view of the outside. It felt quite confining and from an experience stand point...a total zero. From food, wine list, experience and to the overall service, I expect more from a restaurant with such high price points.
Fabulous service, and wonderful desserts, in particular. The lobster pasta was a favorite, although we didn’t particularly favor the Osso Buco.
I requested a private table, or a table that would be as private as possible, then we were seated right in front of the door. The locale was very loud, understandably so since they had a large group right next to us. This definitely made me feel like the restaurant did not read our request or did not take it seriously. When I complained, they indeed gave us free dessert. As a customer, I do not only pay for the food, I pay for the experience. I expected more from this restaurant, since it tries to place itself with such great value. The room we were seated in was very loud, I could hardly have a conversation with my husband. I am pretty sure we’re not coming back. By the way, there are almost no options for vegetarians, unless you want to have only salad. I was also surprised to see that they have very limited pasta options available.
Mamma Maria's consistently has great food and first rate service. And the ambiance is wonderful. I have eaten here at least a half dozen times over the past five years, and each experience has been wonderful.
Very classy place to have dinner.
Amazing service and an amazing meal!
Had a wonderful and tasty dinner. Friendly environment and service. We would go back anytime!
We had a wonderful time celebrating our daughter's 30th birthday. I brought our own special birthday cake and they served it up beautifully. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Service is fantastic. They have a separate vegetarian/ vegan menu that's awesome. Their marinara sauce is amazing! I recommend getting a side of it, so delicious. And they have a fantastic grappa menu.
Great dinner on my birthday! Food selections were varied, simple but unique touch for the day. The service was excellent! Only suggestion is that if you aren't familiar with the North End leave yourself a little more time as navigating the area is somewhat challenging.....use the valet service!
We had the best time at Mamma Maria! Because we had to wait about a half hour for our table inspite of making resv, they gave us prosseco while we waited. The food was really very good, actually worth the wait. Our server was very professional n sweet. The halibut, haddock, the oysters, the scallops all great! The desert was on the house, amazing tiramisu ever and the panacotta was really well made. I would def come back, special occasion or not. They know how to make their customers feel special.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday with friends at Mamma Maria and we had an absolutely excellent experience. The dinner was perfectly paced and every morsel of food was delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the noise level was perfect (neither Yoo quiet or too noisy). We look forward to returning in the future.
Everything was delicious, fresh and inspired. We all had a variety of pasta dishes and a couple of us had wonderful cocktails. the waitress was very helpful. The fresh bread.....and dipping sauce...ahhhhh. I can still taste it.
We dined at Mamma Maria on a busy Friday night, though put in a request for a table on the second floor in advance, we were sit on the first floor. And that’s the only dissatisfaction we have.
Ambience is great, service on point, our waiter cared about our experience without being intrusive and patiently took photos for us as our camera had some issues.
We had oysters, scallops, duck three ways, monk fish, and etc., every dish was delicious and would love to come back and try the rabbit pasta next time!
Dine out week
Food is pretty good!
wonderful meal. The best burrata I've ever had in my life
Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Wine list was pricey. Service was was spectacular.
- Valet is $25. Cash only.
- Tables are VERY close together. You can hear every conversation. We felt like we had to whisper to avoid disturbing the diners around us.
- Only dry wines offered
- No salt or pepper on the table
- Service was average
- Only one salad offered. Bid lettuce with one tiny spoonful of pickled onions and a minute amount of pistachios. $10 for about 75 cents worth of ingredients.
- Very few standard Italian dish offerings
- Main courses were good
- The decor of the restaurant is pleasant
- Over-priced for what you get
- 3 desserts to choice from. Ours was below average
- They say they change their menu daily so BEWARE. Call first to make sure there's something you want to eat there.
Each of their foods burst out flavor as you swallow down and their presentation was great! Their seasoning was perfect and their duck just melts down once you put it in your mouth.
I would really love to visit again and experience the dishes I had!!
Experience felt very high end without the stuffiness.
Did not regret this dinner at all! The atmosphere is great, food and service are both lovely too!
