Fantastic food that was imaginative and delicious. The portion sizes were just right and the wine list superb. The service was friendly, warm and helpful - attentive without being overbearing. Loved the place!!
I had marinated pork. Tasted dry and tough as though it had been marinaded way to long and it was too sweet. Vegetable was half a baked apple. Sweet again. Gnocchi (lumps of dough in sweet sauce which I didn’t like) a non vegetable of any kind would have been nice. Someone else in the party had half a chicken lying on its side..... pale and visually unappetizing although I was told it tasted nice.
Mama Maria never disappoints me. From the warm ambiance to the amazing food and impeccable service. It has been my "go to" spot for special occasions ever since I first stumbled upon it about 4 years ago.
Always have to experience the North End while in Boston. Food is authentic. Menu is unique daily. Wine selection is great. Expensive but not unlike other restaurants in the area, so I felt it was worth the quality of service and food. Did not wait at all but it was late. Would recommend!
Wonderful meal as always at Mamma Maria. The Osso Buco is the best I’ve ever had. Friend who had it as well agreed. Love the atmosphere, the food, the wine and the service. A little loud but lively. Whenever in Boston this is a must do.
Favorite restaurant in Boston, never disappoints! Osso bucco is the best thing ever. Would recommend to everyone!
The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. Classic Italian flavors. The pasta was cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed it.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in all of Boston!
Very nice setting. We ate upstairs on the top floor next to the window. There were about 7 tables.
We shared the carpaccio and the osso bucco. The bread and pesto is wonderful accompanied by olives.
Our waiter was wonderful and attentive.
We were in Boston for one night, and wanted to have a special meal with our daughter. This fit the bill. the staff were welcoming, the place was warm (first snow of the season), and the food was delicious. We had starters and mains, and our daughter had dessert. We ate every bite, which is always nice to be able to do when traveling, and felt great afterwards. Portion sizes were perfect, and the food was delicious.
This was a wonderful dining experience. Exceptional for my first time there, the waiter was very professional and authentic!! I loved every bite of the food we ordered, the angry pasta made me happy lol!! As it has always been one of my favourite desserts, i ordered the tiramisu and it was divine, it reminded me the one my Italian best friend would make for me! I would highly recommend this restaurant!!
Tourist trap. Medioker food. Expensive. No privacy due to the tables being so close to eachother.
This is a wonderful restaurant in the North End of Boston. Went for a romantic birthday celebration. Mamma Maria's is a top notch restaurant, which is evident from the time you are greeted at the door. The lobster ravioli will spoil you to the point that you will never be able to order it anywhere else again. Packed with lobster and served with large chunks of lobster on top in a lobster broth, this dish is truly unparalleled. The osso bucco is another signature dish here. Incredibly tender and served over saffron rissoto, it is an excellent choice for veal lovers.
This is not a typical "red sauce Italian" restaurant. The menu is full of inventive selections that will delight the most sophisticated palate. This intimate restaurant is highly recommended for your special occasion.
The food was outstanding as usual. The new pasta with scallops dish was incredible. Looking forward to going back
Seats were very uncomfortable. But food is excellent and I am okay with the discomfort of the seats as long as the food stays awesome!
Beautiful dining room
Birthday celebration and concert after dinner. Staff brought amazing desserts to the 3 b-day ladies with the most amazing stencil of Happy Birthday. Loved everything!
Visiting Boston and heard great reviews about Mama Maria’s. It did not disappoint! Wonderful service and the ambiance was wonderful!! Had lobster ravioli and would definitely recommend!!! Authentic Italian! Love!!
Mamma Maria's staff always allows for an outstanding food experience!
We had a delicious meal. The food was wonderful. Great atmosphere. You do have to walk up and down stairs
We went here for my wife's birthday. It was excellent. The food was great. The service was great. I asked for a nice table and we had a table right next to the window on the 2nd floor where we could see the Boston Skyline. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had.
My husband and I were in town for a meeting. A friend had recommended Mamma Maria!! Everything was outstanding. We had the Tuna Tartare, which was excellent but then we split the Lobster Ravioli! It was amazing!! My husband rated it in the top 5 of dishes he has ever had at a restaurant. That is quite a rating from him!!
Loved the homey feel.. very attentive staff!!
Excellent lamb and carpaccio
Was not told about specials but would have ordered lamb regardless
Overall great restaurant
I went for my fiance's birthday and they didn't disappoint. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was romantic, and they made sure he had a tiramisu for his birthday with a candle. They were very attentive and helpful, we would return.
This was truly a great experience! The food was amazing ( we got the lobster ravioli and white trufle pasta), and the service was quick and efficient. We had a true italian waiter, which was a nice touch.
So amazing! Probably some of the best italalin food I’ve ever had!
My companion and I shared the figs/prosciutto/Gorgonzola appetizer, Osso Buco and Pasta con Sugo entrees. Everything was delicious. Excellent meal.
This was one of the best Italian food restaurants I have been to. Everything was quite authentic and prepared beautifully. We shared the scallops appetizer and the arugula salad. My wife had what she said was the best Oso Bucco she has ever had. My sea bass was delicious. Very extensive wine list with some excellent options. Great restaurant and service.
I celebrated an anniversary with my boyfriend here and we were blown away by the quality of service and food! The wild foraged mushroom ravioli, rabbit pasta, and carpaccio were all the best we’ve ever had! While it’s certainly a special occasion kind of restaurant, I can’t wait to come back as soon as possible!
A Boston icon - a favorite for locals and that is saying something in a neighborhood fool of tourists
Lovely building, ambiance, service and interesting menu quiet and good food as well
Outstanding food, service and ambiance. Each course was a treat. They have some fabulous mushroom creations. Highly recommend for a special meal.
Like being in Italy !
Great food and service !
Our waiter was very informative and friendly, very affordable.
Pasta is homemade and the wine was delicious!
Mamma Maria blew us away - the service is easily 6/5 stars, our waitress was attentive and helpful the entire night. The food was delicious and priced very reasonably for its quality, and we received a fine dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely evening and would recommend. classic Italian cooking and a great setting
Excellent; everything excellent. Food, service, ambiance. That is a model restaurant. Others should go there to learn.
Great food and service
We enjoyed an excellent dinner. All four in our party had different dishes and we all thought the food was really outstanding. Will come back here next time I am in Boston.
