Excellent food and service, cozy setting in a house like setting.
Best Ossobuco in town. The service and the ambiance are amazing. We sat in La Camera Piccola which is amazing.
We were looking for a restaurant that didn't have the feel of being part of a 'restaurant group,' but rather an individual, personal experience. Mamma Maria didn't disappoint in any way. In fact, it excelled in every aspect. The attention to detail and decorum was top-notch without being stuffy or pretentious. Our server was personable yet sophisticated and knowledgeable as well as being perfectly attentive. The food was extraordinary. Nuanced, traditional but still creative and exceptionally well-executed.
This was our first time, but it will certainly not be our last.
Excellent food and service, the osso buco was cooked perfectly and just fell from the bone!
We had a fantastic time at Mamman Maria! The menu was original and the food delicious. I had told them that it was my parents’ anniversary when I made the reservation, and they offered them a delicious piece of chocolate tart. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Excellent service, excellent food.
Awesome place, food and service. A tad pricey, but that was expected.
Mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. We were given a lovely table in the front corner so it was more quiet. Service was very attentive. Wine list is good but pricey. We shared the Osso Bucco and Striped Bass entrees. Both were excellent. Server brought a Happy Birthday plate of tiramisu with candle after dinner without asking. I love that they actually pay attention to the open table reservation comments. Many places don’t! Saturday night out and never felt rushed.
Great food. Very attentive service. Expensive.
The food was excellent. But it was incredibly loud and we were literally yelling to talk to each other. I expect a little bit more from fine dining. Also, it being winter time, my mom and I had to take off our winter gear and hang it on the back of the chair when everyone else was offered for their coat to be hung up. Little things but it affected my experience.
Excellent in every way
This restaurant was so quaint and the food was fabulous! The rabbit pasta was absolutely fantastic. The service was outstanding. They let you enjoy your meal - absolutely no rush put on anyone. This place is perfect for a date night, anniversary or any special night out. The location nestled in the North End is perfect! Highly recommended!
Fantastic! The Lobster ravioli was absolutely amazing (and I’m from the coast of Maine and know my way around a lobster). Our server was also an integral part of our outstanding evening. She expertly guided us to beautiful wines that paired well with our meals and our palates. We dined early to accommodate a show later, and so were able to easily sit upstairs overlooking the beautiful street. Our server saved the day when she reminded us of our time constraint, as we were just so engrossed in enjoying the evening. We made the show and couldn’t have been happier with the evening. Perfect date night!
Peter and I had a wonderful Birthday dinner! Everything was extraordinary! We have never been to Mamma Maria before and a dear friend recommended it to us for this special occasion. The staff was attentive, polite and very helpful. The restaurant was elegant, welcoming and romantic. We had an outstanding cocktail and then a lovely bottle of wine recommended by our waiter. We had the oysters and the fig appetizer which were both unbelievable. Honestly, the best oysters we have ever had. For dinner we had the mushroom handmade ravioli and the Saltimbocca. Wow, delicious and mind blowing. Dessert and espresso! Thank you for making this special birthday - extra special.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Mamma Maria. Atmosphere, Food, Service were all very good. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Mamma Maria.
Mama Maria's is my drive to go to Boston. A wonderful restaurant in the North End in an old home. Food is the best Italian you can find.
The food and the service were exceptional. This is my new favorite Boston restaurant! Absolutely delicious!
I hadn't eaten in this restaurant for years and can't say why I hadn't. I was delighted! The food was terrific as was the service. The atmosphere is elegant; I felt that I was eating in a private dining room (vs. a noisy cafeteria). Although pricey, it is worth every penny. I think this restaurant has moved to my personal favorite in Boston!
Fantastic food that was imaginative and delicious. The portion sizes were just right and the wine list superb. The service was friendly, warm and helpful - attentive without being overbearing. Loved the place!!
I had marinated pork. Tasted dry and tough as though it had been marinaded way to long and it was too sweet. Vegetable was half a baked apple. Sweet again. Gnocchi (lumps of dough in sweet sauce which I didn’t like) a non vegetable of any kind would have been nice. Someone else in the party had half a chicken lying on its side..... pale and visually unappetizing although I was told it tasted nice.
Mama Maria never disappoints me. From the warm ambiance to the amazing food and impeccable service. It has been my "go to" spot for special occasions ever since I first stumbled upon it about 4 years ago.
Always have to experience the North End while in Boston. Food is authentic. Menu is unique daily. Wine selection is great. Expensive but not unlike other restaurants in the area, so I felt it was worth the quality of service and food. Did not wait at all but it was late. Would recommend!
Wonderful meal as always at Mamma Maria. The Osso Buco is the best I’ve ever had. Friend who had it as well agreed. Love the atmosphere, the food, the wine and the service. A little loud but lively. Whenever in Boston this is a must do.
Favorite restaurant in Boston, never disappoints! Osso bucco is the best thing ever. Would recommend to everyone!
The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. Classic Italian flavors. The pasta was cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed it.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in all of Boston!
Very nice setting. We ate upstairs on the top floor next to the window. There were about 7 tables.
We shared the carpaccio and the osso bucco. The bread and pesto is wonderful accompanied by olives.
Our waiter was wonderful and attentive.
We were in Boston for one night, and wanted to have a special meal with our daughter. This fit the bill. the staff were welcoming, the place was warm (first snow of the season), and the food was delicious. We had starters and mains, and our daughter had dessert. We ate every bite, which is always nice to be able to do when traveling, and felt great afterwards. Portion sizes were perfect, and the food was delicious.
This was a wonderful dining experience. Exceptional for my first time there, the waiter was very professional and authentic!! I loved every bite of the food we ordered, the angry pasta made me happy lol!! As it has always been one of my favourite desserts, i ordered the tiramisu and it was divine, it reminded me the one my Italian best friend would make for me! I would highly recommend this restaurant!!
Tourist trap. Medioker food. Expensive. No privacy due to the tables being so close to eachother.
This is a wonderful restaurant in the North End of Boston. Went for a romantic birthday celebration. Mamma Maria's is a top notch restaurant, which is evident from the time you are greeted at the door. The lobster ravioli will spoil you to the point that you will never be able to order it anywhere else again. Packed with lobster and served with large chunks of lobster on top in a lobster broth, this dish is truly unparalleled. The osso bucco is another signature dish here. Incredibly tender and served over saffron rissoto, it is an excellent choice for veal lovers.
This is not a typical "red sauce Italian" restaurant. The menu is full of inventive selections that will delight the most sophisticated palate. This intimate restaurant is highly recommended for your special occasion.
The food was outstanding as usual. The new pasta with scallops dish was incredible. Looking forward to going back
Seats were very uncomfortable. But food is excellent and I am okay with the discomfort of the seats as long as the food stays awesome!
Beautiful dining room
Birthday celebration and concert after dinner. Staff brought amazing desserts to the 3 b-day ladies with the most amazing stencil of Happy Birthday. Loved everything!
Visiting Boston and heard great reviews about Mama Maria’s. It did not disappoint! Wonderful service and the ambiance was wonderful!! Had lobster ravioli and would definitely recommend!!! Authentic Italian! Love!!
Mamma Maria's staff always allows for an outstanding food experience!
We had a delicious meal. The food was wonderful. Great atmosphere. You do have to walk up and down stairs
We went here for my wife's birthday. It was excellent. The food was great. The service was great. I asked for a nice table and we had a table right next to the window on the 2nd floor where we could see the Boston Skyline. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had.
