Awesome experience for us NJ visitors! Not an unhappy palette at the table and we ate it all! Our ‘Irish’ waitress was a true professional! Made our evening that much more enjoyable! Will most certainly be returning!
Our group was 2 families meeting for dinner. We like the lively atmosphere of the Nortb End but didn’t want to be waiting outside in line or rushed through dinner. When we arrived at Mamma Maria our table was ready. What a pleasure !
Mamma Maria was perfect.
The dining room is lovely and warm. Our waitress was knowledgeable , professional and courteous.
The food was very good.
Everyone in our party was pleased.
Outstanding food - had the shrimp with homemade spinach pasta, wife had mushroom raviolis. Tiramisu was ridiculously good.
We went for our 23rd wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food was authentic and delicious. Our waitresss was knowledgeable and attentive. I would highly recommend.
Amazing place great service wine and ambiance was outstanding
While most of our dishes were good, the rabbit dish lacked flavor, the Osso bucco was over priced and the mozzarella and tomato appetizer was very small.
We went here for our anniversary while we were visiting Boston. The food so fresh. The autumn salad was delicious and the mushroom ravioli was amazing. I didn't know mushrooms had a season, but apprently they did. Our waiter was from Tuscony which really added to the ambiance.
Awesome italian food, great ambience!! Look forward to going again.
I would rank this as the best food in the North End, maybe even Boston.
All of the food was PERFECTION. service was amazing. The restaurant is in an old house so each room has about 8-10 tables so never too loud or too quiet. Perfect restaurant
Beautiful restaurant and good service. However, the food was cold and the pork chop was very fatty. Not worth the price
The food was great and the atmosphere was very charming. The problem is that they cram too many tables into a room and the noise level is ridiculous. We had to yell to hear each other. Not acceptable when you’re paying $150 for dinner!
First time. 21st wedding anniversary. Us and our 17 year old daughter had beautiful dinner. Service outstanding. Server had much info and recommendations. We tried everything new to us on menu and were so pleased. The fish and ink pasta was really special. As well as the pepperincini infused pasta. So happy the waiter suggested that I could order (2) 1/2 pasta dishes. So we also tried the rabbit. Excellent. Loved the atmosphere. Candle light. Upholstered chairs. White table cloths. Next time I will request Window seats as the view of the surrounding architecture is so unique to this quiet area of the north end. Highly recommend dinner.
Rafeal was a delight and just lovely. Our meals were delicious and perfectly timed. Wonderful experience!
Just lovely! Felt like eating in a warm, cozy friends home rather than a restaurant! Will definitely be back when in Boston again!
As always , great meal. One of the best restaurant in Boston !
Very good Italian food in a pretty townhouse in the North Rnd of Boston. Sophisticated cuisine paired with excellent service makes this a recommended spot for a more formal dinner. But it’s not a stuffy place—you’ll feel at home as you work through the hike made pastas and delicious entrees.
As usual, we had a great meal and the service was also very attentive. Always the best!
My wife, daughter and I had a most enjoyable time at Mamma Maria’s on 5th October 2018. The meal was top notch and very tasty with portion sizes that left none of us feeling bloated. The scallops, in particular, were excellent. Our table on the second floor gave us a terrific view of the atmospheric street outside. The restaurant was buzzing if a little cramped. Service was attentive and prompt.
Enjoyed a very nice meal. All of the food was very good, though nothing stuck out as fabulous. The Osso Bucco was the best of our dishes. Service was okay. Overall, everything about our evening was good, but not particularly memorable.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Bus boy was a little ambitious removing bread tray before we were done with it. It’s near Paul Revere’s house, but worth the effort to get there.
Everything was excellent osso buco, lobster ravioli, and halibut. The sea scallop appetizer was just o.k. The scallops were really small for the price. Meatball appetizer was nice. Service was excellent. The waiter, Tom, drew us a map to get to the Boston Garden. Wish we had time the dessert looked great.
Wonderful pastas. Great service. Very accommodating.
Mamma Maria’s was outstanding! We started with stuffed peppers and a glass of red wine. I had the lobster ravioli. It was very light and close to 8 ounces of lobster. My friend had monk fish that was on a bed of purée jicama. Our waiter was fabulous which made the dinner even that much better! We both agreed that we would definitely return to this restaurant.
The food was amazing here. The service was a little odd (offering cheese after we had dug in?) but I can over look it.
Biggest complaint was how LOUD the rest of the customer were. Made it hard to have a decent conversation
I am not from the area (ND) and have been coming to Mama Maria for 20 years. Tonight, like each time before, Mama Maria’s gave me reason to come back again. Food, service, and ambiance are all top shelf. A homey environment and the streets at night remind me just a bit of navigating the streets in Rome. Well done Mama Maria!
My wife & I shared the carpaccio & aruguIa appetizer. I had the swordfish. My wife had the lobster ravioli. We shared the chocolate torte and a bottle of Italian wine our server recommended. Our appetizer & our entrees, especially my swordfish, were delicious. The wine was nice and the dessert good.
Crowded..loud..expensive..food ok..service ok..did not bring change from bill giving himself a 33% tip
We celebrated an 80th Birthday at Mamma Maria and it was fabulous! We sat in a cozy room for six people which was very intimate and excellent for guests with hearing issues. Every morsel we ate was delicious and the service was outstanding!!!
Two of my friends and I ate at Mama Maria's on a Tuesday evening (it was jammed!). Unfortunately we ran into terrible Boston traffic and arrived 40 minutes after our reservation. I was impressed that, on such a busy night, they were able to accommodate us. The upstairs room was attractive (overlooking a cute North End square), the waiter friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. I had the rabbit with pappardelle, one friend had Osso Buco and the other a steak. My rabbit was delicious as was my friend's Osso Buco. The person that ordered the steak was extremely impressed that it was cooked exactly as he had requested (something he was nervous about). This is really a well run place! I'll definitely return again in the future.
I have a member of my family who is hard of hearing. When I added this to my OpenTable profile, the restaurant staff placed us in our own tiny private dining room so we could all hear each other. The wait staff was extremely helpful (allowing us to sample several wines before we selected) and the food was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I got the octopus/calamari appetizer and their swordfish loin with cuttlefish ink pasta. I don’t think I’ve had a better fish dish in my life, and I live in New England. I could not recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Small menu, but excellent food. Fantastic service. Water glass filled constantly without being intrusive. Loved our dining experience here.
Food was disappointing. Even their special Osso Bucco was chewy. The pasta was ok, but not excellent
The best food I’ve ever eaten! Very cute setting in the North End.
THE best in the north end .... and that’s saying something
We had Saturday reservations for 630, arrived on time and were seated immediately. Our table was amazing, right next to an open window with flowers looking over the street. The restaurant had many small intimate rooms rather than large open dining. Very extensive wine list, our server helped us each choose ours. Amazing food. Portions average it was definitely quality over quantity.
Every part of our meal was delicious and we were well-attended. Server made outstanding recommendations. Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
This was our first time here. We were celebrating our 5th anniversary. Everyone and everything was perfect. We will not wait for another anniversary as we just found our new favorite north end restaurant—-Mama Maria!
Really wonderful food and staff. Our visit was spoilt by a loud group - we couldn’t hear ourselves think, let alone talk - but the food is exceptionally good and I highly recommend this restaurant. The meatballs and pasta al sugo are noteworthy.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Food quality was outstanding and taste was terrific. Great staff and loved the ambience. I love Italian food and this was the best.
