Fabulous and healthy comfort food choices and great drinks on an extensive menu in a family operated, great service and warm atmosphere restaurant. Not fancy or expensive, but real and satisfying. Lots of loyal customers, for good reasons. We enjoyed excellent frozen marguerites, guacamole, salsa and chips, tacos, chili rellenos, and tres leches. Looking forward to many returns! Superb experience!
What an unassuming gem. Four of us came here on a slow Tuesday night; we were one of 3 tables. Good for us. We had the best waiter around, the owner! We got to know all about he and his wife Bina, and the family business. The drinks were potent, and the food was wonderful, especially the refried beans. You can't go wrong at this place. Go!
Everything was great
Worst margarita I have ever tasted. They must use the cheap mix to make it. The food wasn’t bad but I will never return because the drinks were awful!
A hidden gem in Hell’s Kitchen. Amazing food, strong and delicious margaritas, wonderful service. I would highly recommend to friends and family. Thank you to the staff who provided a piece of tres leches cake on the house! A wonderful ending to our perfect date night.
Food quality just wasn’t there. Chicken so dry it wasn’t edible. Appetizers came at the same time as entree. Told the Mgr and server but they just said “sorry”.
Food and service was great. The owner was very friendly and came over and welcomed us to the restaurant. Overall a great experience.
good Mexican food and margaritas, New York prices and a complimentary dessert.
We were a party of 7. We all enjoyed our meal and thought it was food value. Large servings. Many Margarita choices - I had the frozen mango and enjoyed it!
Great service. Owner came to our table during dinner to make sure everything was good.
Would recommend for casual Mexican lunch or dinner.
Loved this place!!
Great authentic place. Warm, friendly, good food. I split an order of fajitas with my boyfriend and they gave us an extra rice and beans set up for free. And a free dessert! Very nice. Just need to upgrade the tequila list!
Wonderful neighborhood & pre-theatre gem. Don’t be put off by the photos - yes, it is casual but offers great Mexican food & very friendly service
Lovely food. Great staff and friendly owner. Looking forward to our next visit.
DISHONEST WAITRESS! While we enjoyed the food at Mamasita, we will NOT return. Our waitress tacked on an erroneous $24 charge to our credit card charge - after I reviewed the check. This was no mistake! She didn't return the check to us with the credit card charge - until I requested it. When I pointed out the "error" she casually said "Oh, that was for six shots for that table over there." Who doesn't return the check for review with the credit card charge?
Would go again. enjoyed
Fresh food and service was good
Overpriced and very mediocre food. 22$ for 2 🌮 is very hard to believe. Certainly won't come again.
Phenomenal food and service!
The music was too loud and didn't really go with the type of restaurant. Service was extremely fast with no time to rest between courses of food. Food was mediocre.
The food and service were awesome! Really great happy hour margaritas too. I will probably come back again in the future.
Wonderful experience. Excellent margaritas, fajitas, nachos , chosen from a very large menu with lots of choice.
The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the service is excellent.
It was our second and certainly not our last time!
My first visit. Nice neighborhood restaurant away from the crush of tourists. Very attentive service. Carnitas, margaritas and guacamole were excellent. Massive menu selection and they will do anything you ask. Looking for Mexican / Latin fare? This is a very good choice.
Good queso dip and chimichangas. Food was good overall and service was prompt. Owner checked on us several times during meal.
Welcoming... friendly...good food...good drinks. Will be coming back soon 😁
Small lively place with a lot to look at in the Mexican tradition. The menu rivals the size of a diner which means there’s so much to choose from. So far we’ve been twice and both times the food was really great. Had the Cha Cha Manga which was a surprise. Although my friend’s mole sauce was too much on the chocolate side. Best part was the friendly service. Even the owner would stop by and make sure we were okay. Would definitely go back again.
The food came out too fast and didn't taste fresh, very disappointed. Wish I can get my money back
A warning, I am very critical of Mexican food. It is my favorite food, and I have had authentic, excellent Mexican food in the past.
The food was decent, but it lacked flavor. There are certain spices and flavors expected in Mexican food, and it just was not there. However, the food was fresh, and they do not use animal fats or lards to prepare. As far as the margaritas, they are mediocre at best. They did not contain a lot of alcohol. Not that you need to get blasted off of one drink, but the taste and kick of taquila is vital to a margarita. Very small restaurant, and the bar is right next to the dining room so it is extremely loud. I am not even going to get into the waitress, I own a business, and I realize how hard it is to hire really good people. Tip is included. But after my credit card was run, the itemized receipt was not given back so if you didn't read it on the bottom of the menu you would tip twice. PRETTY SLICK!
Overall, if you don't care about the Mexican food you eat, or if your experience with Mexican food is Taco Bell, than you will really enjoy this place.
We were given the standard lunch menu during brunch time. We didn't realize there was even a brunch menu. The food was severely overpriced for both the quality and quantity of food we ate. Better off at an upscale Mexican restaurant with those prices...
Had a delicious dinner with friends this week. The place could use a little makeover, but the food and service was excellent..
First time visiting this restaurant. Wonderful service, exceptional food, especially liked the selection of margaritas. Owner and wait staff very attentive, courteous, went over and above to make for a great experience. Definitely will be back next time visiting NYC. Recommend all to give it a try!
Great family owned place in a convenient location. If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to try it!
Food was super quick- almost too quick to think it was “made to order”. It was average Mexican but ingredients all seemed fresh. It was very busy when we went and they do a good job of turning over the tables effectively.
Our family had a wonderful meal in this family owned restaurant. The food was delicious and the service great.
HORRIBLE!!!! Margaritas looked nothing like the pictures on the site and they taste horrible. I had reservations for 6 and we ask for some napkins and we received two napkins. We then asked could we get more we were handed three more. We ended up just tearing them in half. I had a steak quesadilla which was really tiny for 18 bucks. Our bill came up to 224 with Gratuity included. We put 75 in cash and the cards should be charged 37.25 each. Instead we all got charged 56 dollars like we didn’t give cash. So now I’m 93 dollars in the hole until I can get my 56 back! NEVER AGAIN!! Please don’t waste your time!
A great find lots of delicious vegan options awesome friendly service and a killeelr margarita.. my friends said non vegan food was also outstanding. You can't wrong here.
Margaritas were great. Food was fresh and good. A tad pricey, but considering everything along with the atmosphere, worth it.
Being from TX I was disappointed in this place. I trusted Google review of it being a 4.5 and it definitely was nowhere near that.
Excellent food, so deliciously tasty!!!
A little pet peeve of mine, the restroom was what can I say . . .
Mediocre overpriced food. Service was the only thing that was decent. Frozen Margarita’s not very good and they overcharged my group of five. Bill was $480 which was crazy to begin with with happy hour included. They charged us 3x over the bill on each credit card. Which was insane. Over 30 years of experience they claim and you don’t know how to spit a bill? Never will go back.
Good food. Lots of vegetarians options! The waitress could be friendlier.
We were a large group that each had 1 drink, we shared quacamole and chips and each got one main course and it was $58 per person with tip. With entrees averaging ~$20 (most of us had combinations), that means 1 drink and shared app was ~$30 per person extra? Pricy. That said, the meal and drinks were good.
