Mama's Meatball Ratings and Reviews
The Spaghetti Carbonara and the beet salad were outstanding. Travis, our waitperson was unbelievably helpful. The very sorbet could have been more flavorful, berry it was still quite satisfactory after a great meal. We love Mama’s Metball—long may it delight the palates of SLOtown!
We always return to Mama's Meatball. We have been there 5 times in the last 2 years even though we live 5 hours away. With all the new construction it is harder to find, but just follow the scent of the wonderfully cooked food and you will arrive on their doorstep. We are hoping to return sooner than later. This time we missed out server, Patrick, who retired. iLARIOwas still very entertaining. Great dinner.
Big G and little t
We went here on a friend's recommendation. The restaurant name brought to mind a more casual, value priced place., but i spent almost twice what i was expecting. The penne pescatore was delicious, as was my wife's rigatoni with meat sauce. The wine by the glass is priced by the half-glass for $6+, too expensive for me. No craft beer available.
Went hear for the first time and was not disappointed. The food was very fresh and served hot just the way I like it. Please note that there is some construction going on now and it is located just off the main street, but there is parking in the back/side of restaurant.
Our second time here and we have fallen in love with everything about the place. The food, the ambience, the staff all are superb. A really special place tucked away in an old creamery makes this a San Luis Obispo gem. There are a couple of other good Italian places around, but the simplicity makes this place something special. Food stands out a little more here and all seems like some place you visit for a good home meal somewhere in Italy. Everyone seems to try and take care of you without being too much in your face. Say hello to the manager and the place just smiles
with his smile. Leaving and waving goodbye, means something here. Being from Lemoore means we can come only occasionally....until next time Mama's Meatball; you are truly a special place to enjoy. Thanks!
A cute, quaint SLO longstanding Italian restaurant offers mediocre, bland faire. Not bad but certainly in need of herbs and spices. The little round garlic, olive oil covered bread bonbons are the best part of the meal. Of the three meals at the table not one was anything to go back for a second time.
Great place to go for a relaxing and delicious lunch. They have a variety of choices from salad to pasta to fish/meat. The lunch menu has special offerings that combine salad, soup and entree. My favorite is the pear and gorgonzola salad and the pasta with salmon dish. We'll definitely be back.
When my wife and I go out we like to try different places to eat. So this time I surprised her with Mama's Meatball's. The service was wonderful and the food was even better. And the atmosphere almost makes you feel as though you're in Italy. The only minor downside was that as they got busier, which is certainly a good thing, it became quite warm. Otherwise it was a great experience, and was planning our next visit as we were walking to our car.
We sought this place out since it was on the Restaurant Month list. I knew exactly what I wanted before I even arrived. Burrata! WOW they knock it out of the park topping it with pesto and Bruschetta. 2nd course was mushroom raviloi with a walnut Gorgonzola sauce. Finally the 3 course was your choice of any dessert on the menu. Tiramisu was all I saw. It was light, creamy and total perfection. The atmosphere was full of ambiance, quaint, small and quiet. The restaurant is nicely tucked away inside the Creamery in SLO.. I would say this is one of the best Italian meals I have ever experienced.
I had read good reviews about this spot, but only recently found it because I happened to visit the fabric store next door and could smell the garlic! I brought my husband here for lunch, which was excellent. I had the Orecchettie con Bracoli, beef rolls filled with melted cheese on a bed of pasta with a rich red sauce--super yummy. My husband tried the Pollo Valdostano, a chicken breast covered in a garlic mushroom brown gravy that was so good I ordered it the next night when we returned with our friends visiting from out of town. Also, the little nuggets of garlic bread were delightful! Salads are great, too. I had a beet salad with candied walnuts that really hit the spot. I usually forego dessert, but had to try their creme brulee. Best I have ever tasted with the lightest custard and crunchy sugar crust. Hub had the chocolate profiterols (scrumptious!), and canoli the following night. Someday I want to try the meatballs, too!
The only downside was my friend's portion of Chicken Parmiggano could have been larger. My chicken dish had a large, pounded piece of chicken that looked to be twice as big.
We order 3 entrees : Half Rack of Lamb, Risotto ai Frutti di Mare & Merluzzo all'Amalfitana. As well as we order Pana Cota, Moscatto & Black coffee for dessert. The food was excellent with beautiful presentation, but not recommended if you very hungry because the entree portion are small. At least you order 2 plates or more for yourself. Our favorite is the Lamb & the Bass. This restaurant is def a neighborhood gem.
Luckily we made reservations for this very popular and busy restaurant while visiting SLO. My husband and I shared the pear gorgonzola salad, side of meatballs, ravioli di zucca, and flourless chocolate dessert. The meal was served with these addictive garlic rolls. I ended this amazing dining experience with an espresso. Wow! Not a morsel was left on our plates!
