Mama Mia's - Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
I was prepared to be disappointed perion the Wednesday lobs to special is incredible. These are main/North Atlantic lobsters and they just keep coming and coming. Because it was busy when we 1st got there, the service was less than desirable. However, once some tables opened up, are waiters were wonderful. Excellent value!
This experience was the total opposite of what we have come to expect from Mama Mia's. Our reservation was quickly honored, we placed our orders, quickly got our Antipasto Italiano appetizer (although it was totally different from multiple prior visits) and then we waited.....and waited...and, well that's all we did. Despite being told multiple times our food would be "right out", "be out in a few minutes", it never arrived. We noted that several tables seated after us had received their food & yet nothing for us. We spoke to our server and a young woman who was in the role of manager as the usual manager/owner (Vito ?) was not there. She was friendly & trying to help but seemed overwhelmed and kept repeating the same message - perhaps it was what we ordered and other messages sent from the kitchen. We ultimately got up to leave as did an adjacent table who had a similar experience.
Again, we have had multiple very positive experiences at this restaurant but this evening was not enjoyable and we were hungry! In total, we waited almost 90 minutes after placing our order before we left. We will return for another try but perhaps not on a Saturday night.
Great food, huge portions and great service. Food came out fast and hot. We had the eggplant appetizer and rice balls, those were great! Then I had the chicken Parmesan, one of my favorites. Take the cheesecake to go, with the meal being so big you most likely will be too full, but trust me it's amazing and you'll be happy you have a late night snack!
If you want to really eat this is the spot. I've eaten here several times and each time I've been thrilled by the authentic Italian-American style of cooking. This is the way my family prepared meals when they settled in Chicago in the early 20th century. This is my comfort food.
The portions are huge. I always have more than enough for another meal at home.
The cocktails are generous and made to perfection.
The service is quick and very friendly.
I look forward to a return dinner.
Mama Mia's has been one of our favorite local restaurants for many years. The food has remained consistently good. The portions are humongous. Two-three people could share an entree. The pasta Bolongese made with a mixture of beef and veal was outstanding. The waiter said it weighed 3 pounds. It came served in a metal colander which really added to the Italian feeling of the meal. We always love the garlic bread and the chopped salad appetizer was enough for an army. We brought home enough food for 4 extra meals. I just wish they would serve smaller portions for a smaller price. The service was impeccable and our waiter was very friendly and entertaining.
Food was wonderful and the menu was diverse, not just your regular Italian menu. The service staff was excellent. We didn't sit outside, because it is a bit hot in Florida during the late afternoon, but the seating outside looked inviting. Shame they are located where they are unable to add more landscaping to the outdoor seating.
This was my first time there. I will probably go back!
Wait staff should advise that entrees are large but food was very good - lots of seafood on the fruit de mar, pasta portions were quite large as was the chicken parm, dinner salad doesn't contain a lot of ingredients - overall we were very pleased with our meals
I went with a friend on Sunday for brunch. We had reservations for 2 PM. The brunch starts at 11 AM and runs until 4 PM. The food that was available had been sitting there probably since 11 AM. From sitting underneath the hot lamps the food was tough and hard. They did not bring out any fresh food during the time we were there. I barely ate anything and we did mention it to our waitress but it's not her fault it's MANGEMENT! When we went to the dessert table there were mini cheesecakes that were warm since they had been sitting there forever. The cookies were broken in half, I guess by people that did not want to eat the entire cookie. They brought to my table some cold mini cheesecakes and apologized because they had no more cookies available. Awful experience, will never go there again.
This is the first time in several years that I was disappointed in the quality of the lobster at Mama Mia's. I look forward to this dining experience with high hopes and salivate over the thought of fresh lobster. Not so this time. I opted for the stuffed option. Stuffed with what you may ask....supposedly seafood. It was mostly very salty breading or some sort of meal/flour mix with VERY little seafood mixed in. a major disappointment in my book. Next time I will save the upcharge and stay with the steamed lobster. This time around the lobsters were mealy and crumbly, not succulent juicy and meaty like usual. This was also very disappointing. I hope this was a unique experience and one not to be repeated.
Not a great experience, to start with we were a party of 4 shoved in a little tight corner, service was horrible, it was hot, and our waitress was awful. Bread was hard, coffee never came! All around disappointing dinner, needless to say we will not return.
Food is good but kitchen and manager leave something to be desired. Shrimp scampi is tasty but not classic sauce very thick! Problem some of our food was sitting under warmer long enough for pasta to stick together then when I complained then asked what wrong with! They finally remade it!
