Mama Mia's - Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Momma Mia several times when visiting Florida. It was always on our annual list of must go to restaurants. This year the food was only mediocre. It could be under new management as the tables have changed and the name seems to be going towards Mia Grill as some of the signage says that. We were quite disappointed with the food this year. The service was really good but I didn't like that the waiter took it upon himself to automatically add an 18% tip to our bill even though we were only 4 people. The menu clearly stated this would be done for parties of 8 +.
Guess they will be scratched off our list for next visit.
This restaurant was recommended to us by friends. The food was very tasty and authentic. We were glad that we went there. The only complaint I had was that we were still having our appetizers when our regular meals arrived. We asked the waitress not to rush our meal prior to ordering and she said "ok". I we had no other complaint.
The worst restaurant experience I ever had. Service was absolutely terrible, We wait SEATED do 1h15min, to be informed, after SEVERAL questions to servers, that our order was forgotten to be placed, than wait another 20 minutes to receive a WRONG order.
No attention or respect to clients were given. Many other people were complaining, but this is not my problem.
I love to go out to eat, but this place is a crap. Do not waist your time to go to this place, you can find EASY a much, much, much better place to enjoy your dining out.
I have been here a few times before and enjoyed the food & ambiance. I had friends visiting and took them here thinking we would have a nice meal. We all left dissatisfied. No one greeted us at the front & we waited awhile until a server seated us. After that, the service was okay (delayed meal, but we were not in a rush).
The complaints were that the pizza (white) was a ton of cheese (some might like that!) and under-cooked pizza pie. The salad was just a lot of plain lettuce. The lobster cheese & mac was overloaded with cheese, but underneath it, no chunks of lobster. It had 2 small lobster tails on top. The waiter went back & checked with the chef, who reassured him that there was lobster meat in the dish -- but clearly that wasn't the case. Just an overall disappointing meal & experience.
My boyfriend's ribeye was overcooked - it had a charred flavor, and was otherwise flavorless. His mashed potatoes were very bland. He had to send his food back. The waiter and manager were very apologetic, and his food was comp'ed. I had the filet mignon and it was good, but a huge portion. It was cooked exactly medium. The apps were good - I had the burrata and tomatoes and my boyfriend had the pasta fagioli soup.
This is one of those places that attracts locals and visitors on the circle in Hollywood. Its great listening to some of the conversations of your nearby guests. The food is red sauce Italian. There is a decent wine list. I thought our food was tasty and hot. I appreciate the fresh garlic rolls. It attracts folks dressed up for an evening out. It is one of those "feel good" places to eat.
The Special included Appetizer, Entree, Desert with all but, one in our party being thrilled with the food. The waitress while friendly was scatter brained and the meals were not brought out at the same time which makes for uncomfortable situation. We will return to try the lobster night.
Excellent! The food was perfect! The menu options were extensive. The service couldn't be better. The atmosphere is great! The bar is big and really nice. The bar area is spacious. The dining area can accommodate a party of 2 to a party of 40. The owner came out of the kitchen and greeted us. We had a waitress and a waiter both attending to our every need and making sure we were taken care and that everything was good. The food was delicious. The portions were good. I would go again and again.
Being a discriminate diner, I thought the food was well above average. I had the Caesar salad, which was very good, and the seafood pasta in spicy marinara sauce (can't remember the Italian term). Portions were generous, ample seafood. I did not care for the modern decor. It was sterile and uninviting, lighting was not dimmed. The bill was around 150 for a family of four, a bit pricey. Mama Mia could possibly be a repeat, but I wasn't blown away by it.
Being raised Italian meant not going to Italian restaurants. I had seen this place for years and decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. Our server admitted it was her first week after training. No worry, she was excellent. The food was plentiful and delicious. We really enjoyed the whole experience.
We had the same waiter we did the last time (Chris) and he's a little rough around the edges. My friend and I tried to order appetizers and as soon as I gave mine he bolted into the kitchen assuming we were going to share? When he came back we had to tell him there was another appetizer so needless to say one came out before the other. Food is always good no matter what you get. I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so.
The server Jorge/George was AWESOME!
They start you off with complimentary bread was hot, fresh, and tasty. Then we had the meatball (excellent) and tomatoes n mozzarella for appetizers. Entrees were the chicken parmigiana and lobster macaroni. The chic parm was great ant the only complaint I have about the lobster Mac was they don't crack open the claw for you and don't give a utensil to crack it. The tail had very little meat but the macaroni was very cheesy and tasty. For dessert we had the banana tempura medley which was just OK but the strawberry cheesecake was awesome. Overall the food was good but our server was the BEST! I will be going back. Thanks for a great experience.
My date and I arrived for a Monday night dinner. the staff was ready for us and new us by name before we arrived which was awesome. The waiter was super knowledgeable and friendly. he was always right there whenever we needed anything. Dinner itself was magnificent. I had the lobster mac and cheese. it was super rich and delicious. but what i liked most was the garlic bread that they serve. it was phenomenal, i cant say how many times since i have thought about it! all in all a great place and i will go back.
Everything was excellent with one exception. While reviewing this restaurant, I read one review
which mentioned an early dinner menu that you were required to ask for. Since we were dining early(5:30 reservation) but it was a Saturday night, I assumed early-bird's would not apply. Well, we all know what happens when you ASSUME. Our dining partners noticed an adjacent diner looking at a somewhat different looking menu and inquired what it was. Lo and behold, it was the "secret" early dinner menu. We immediately requested it from our waitperson who developed a slightly dejected look on his face. This menu contained at least 10 dinners found on the regular menu, but $5 to $6 cheaper. AND, the early-birds included soup or salad, coffee and dessert. I'm not sure if the portions were smaller but there was certainly enough food for every member of our party.
I would recommend that Mama Mia's offer this menu to all patrons seated before 6PM as it requires but without the need to request it.
