Great martini, bread, spaghetti/meatballs. Great seafood stew, except mussels fatigued and Caesar salad initially very poor, but chef redeemed himself somewhat with a redo. Still lacked authentic flavors. Prices here are somewhat high, so there was little excuse for the poor salad.
Nonetheless, the setting and the roving singing group that did songs of the diners' choice -- mostly Italian ballads -- made the evening. We must recommend this restaurant and will likely return.
As usual great food and service. I wish they did not change the food presentation we had back in January. Not a fan of my meat entrée stacked on top of my pasta.
When you go try the Famigla Castellani Chianti. Fantastic wine and a great price.
The service was impeccable, attention to every detail. We had a birthday to celebrate and they went above and beyond with an opera singer and a special dessert. They were on top of every delicious course.
Mama Della's was very good. It's such a pretty setting and I just love the live singer strolling around! All of our entrees were very good and we had a nice bottle of Chianti. It's pricey, but hey, you're in a popular tourist spot. Would definitely recommend eating here if you're at Universal. And you do not have to be a hotel guest to eat there (or any of the Universal resort restaurants) . We took the walking path there from City Walk and took the boat back. Nice place!
We were looking for a lovely, quiet place to dine & we certainly found it here. The Italian singers were wonderful, a bit loud, but, hey, they're Italian! The chicken parm, sea bass, bruchetta were all wonderful!
Great food and ambiance!
An excellent meal. Great taste. Good value for a resort restaurant.
Ever since finding this hidden gem at the Portofino, we have returned for the past three years to celebrate our Anniversary! An evening at Mama Della's is always perfect from beginning to end! We are definitely looking forward to our next get-away in Orlando. The drive from Tampa is well worth it each and every time! Thank you!
This was a nice place for dinner during our stay at a neighboring Loews hotel on the Universal property. We loved the strolling Italian singers and the waitstaff was very attentive. The food was also excellent. It's pricey, but your paying for the ambiance and location.
Great food and location, friendly staff so thank you for a nice evening
Delcious and friendly
Old style Italian dishes in an old world atmosphere. Excellent all the way around including tableside musical serenade.
The hostess lied that they will come outside to sing. They never did.
Myself and my family ate here during the kids Spring Break Vacation week in April. Overall it was a good experience. We arrived a little late (I mis-remembered the reservation time)...no issue. They seated us on the outside patio, which at first I wasn't thrilled about, but in the end it ending up being exactly what I would have hoped for. The weather was perfect and it was a great ambiance with the people walking through the plaza, the bay in th backround and the sun setting over the hotel. I am sure it is nothing like the real Italy, but it was a convincing theme park rendition. The food itself was typical "American" Italian food. Spaghetti and Meatballs, Gnocchi and Lasagna were what our table ordered. All were filling, if not completely memorable, but the overall ambiance definitely made it worthwhile. Just as we were finishing ~7:30 Opera singing from one of the balconies provided a relaxing finish to our meal. Definitely another unique element you won;t get many other places. We would definitely go back.
This was not my first time here, so when I planned this vacation, reservations were at the top of my list
Lots of fun, with quality strolling musicians. Lawrence, our server, was exceptional and super friendly.
My expectations were high considering a friend suggested this restaurant as an option from all the "programmed" food you find at the theme parks. It "looked" authentic but unfortunately it missed the mark. When we first sat down to dine everything was fine. The warm fresh bread, the choice of butter and olive oil infused with caramelized garlic. The mussels in a wine butter sauce were quite good and so was the selection of wines. But dinner entrees took too long to be served and then to make matters worse- I requested the veal special which was Veal Saltimbocca with a side of risotto but I received Veal swimming in Marsala wine sauce instead. I was not happy. Rather than re-making the dish I wanted, the waitress simply apologized for the misunderstanding. To her credit, she removed the entree from our bill, but I would have preferred the dish I wanted and be charged for it- even if I had to wait longer for it.
This place is amazing! The service was TOP NOTCH, the food was delectable and the ambiance was perfecto!
The food was overpriced for what it was, but the portions of appetizers were fabulous, portions of entrees were average.
We had a wonderful dinner at Mama Della's while there for our two-day Universal vacation. It is a great location and the service was wonderful; very attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious. We also very much enjoyed the accordion and the singer that walked around the restaurant performing for tables by request.
Vacation family meal.
Food was good, I had the spaghetti and meatballs (classic but great) the kids didn't complain either. This was probably the best and only place, while there worth the money. "There"meaning the universal complex.
It was great! The lasagna was delicious!
Loved it! Great food! Beautiful ambiance! And the singers were great!
Lovely restaurant. Great Italian singing. Awesome experience!
Great traditional Italian comfort food... and the strolling singers make this a real treat.
We had a wonderful quiet romantic dinner at Mama Dellas. Great location at Universal Studios' Portofino hotel. Excellent classic italian food, great wine, good service. We were there for the accordian player and table singers, who were terrific. Definitely will be back!
Service is always great and the food is delicious. We also love the singers coming to the tables.
My friends and I who were in Orlando for a trade show had eaten at Mama Della's the year before. We sat outside, it was a beautiful night, it was quiet and there was an opera singer on the balcony for part of the evening. it was very fun so the quality of the food which is only fair was unimportant. This year, due to rain, we sat inside. It was very noisy and they had a singer with a very bad voice shouting into the microphone. The salads came out quickly but we had to wait almost 40 minutes for our entrees. The food was mediocre. I would only ever suggest going there if it's a beautiful night and you can sit outside and you don't care about the food.
Good Italian food. Nothing to knock your socks off. Big portions. Typical higher end theme park restaurant. Nice place to.walk afterwards.
The food was quite good, a little overpriced, but that is to be expected at a resort hotel at Universal. The waiter that served us was very friendly and helpful and, in my opinion, made the dining experience much more enjoyable.
I traveled in Italy last summer, I felt like I was back there during our dinner at Mama Della's the other night. The service was great, the food and entertainment exceptional!
We celebrated an Anniversary there this past weekend. Not only was the food delicious, the ambiance, the service, and the great singers made for an exceptional dinner!
Horrible service. Food was fair at best.
Great place to take the kiddos after a long day at the park. Very incredible service, great food, and wonderful experience.
Excellent lasagna. Table side singers are a little loud, but very entertaining.
Second time we were here and the experience was as the first time .. incredible. The staff is great and attentive. The food is excellent and the entertainment is superb. Love the singers and the old world charm of Italy that the restaurant has to offer. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Orlando .
Everything was great from beginning to end!
Great meal and awesome atmosphere. Great as a family dinner or a date for two.
The food was very good, and the service was excellent. It is a very nice restaurant, but it is in a hotel at the Universal Resort, so of course there is no real dress code. I definitely recommend the filet and the bruschetta appetizer. The Italian singer and guitar player were a fun bit of ambiance, too.
