Amazing middle eastern cuisine with the best service!
last here in 1980 and still love it delicious food
Pleasant space and excellent service. Food was okay but nothing special, except for the yummy sardines. The pita tasted pre-packaged and bland. Disappointed given the high Open Table rating.
Attentive owner and service. Delicious food.
After not going to Mama Ayeshas for years we have "rediscovered" it and now use it as one of our go-to places when folks come visit from out of town. The food is always delicious, ambience is just right for visiting, and our guests always enjoy it (as do we). We start out with 4-5 mezza dishes and then usually split a couple of mains, as no one is completely hungry after humus, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, fatoush salad and kibbeh -- an order of lamb kabobs and one of musakan (a wonderfully aromatic dish of grilled chicken served smothered in onions over pita) makes for a great dinner. Wonderful!!
The decor is charming. The food is not authentic and not even very tastey.
We ordered the Hummus bil Lahmeh (just ok), Baba Ghanouj (delicious), Zahir (pretty good), Mujadarah (pretty good) , and Mouzat (AMAZING). The Mouzat (lamb shank) was definitely the highlight.
I totally recommend going for dinner. The garlic chicken was amazing, very flavorful. Our waiter Othman, was very attentive and helpful! Thank you for a great service, I will return :)
I had a Good Wednesday lunch, Food was fresh and hot, the service was amazing and very nice , the atmosphere was phenomenal and nice , I’ll be back to Mama Ayesha’s again !
Wonderful food and excellent service! A vibrant atmosphere
The food was bland and service was error-prone and absent when needed. Both were disappointing given several previous experiences.
One of the best experiences i have had in DC. The cuisine brought me back to my mother's cooking and i will definitely become a regular. An amazing authentic middle eastern restaurant that is 2nd to none.
I went in during lunch on friday, food was delicious, flavorful and fresh. I recommend checking it out. Amazing decorations and friendly staff.
We used to love eating at Mama Ayesha's but it has changed. First they could not find my reservation. Then they got my order wrong and forgot the couscous that went with one dinner. Not the same.
Very noisy-birthday party in next room. Service, very slow--had to ask for bread
Returned to Mama Ayesha’s for some authentic mid-eastern food, friendly service and to fill my craving for really good hummus.
We shared the cheese rolls, hummus & spinach feta walnut salad. All were very fresh; we will order them again. As a vegetarian, I ordered & enjoyed my lentil rice dish. My husband liked his marinated grilled beef with vermicelli rice, a house specialty. The bill was reasonable.
Inside has been upgraded and is now a very nice setting inside. Will return.
This place is an institution and one of the few restaurants with excellent middle eastern cuisine. Family owned and operated; friendly fantastic service. Off the beaten path, but worth it.
We've been here dozens of times. The food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. It is quite enough that you can have a conversation. The tables are far enough apart that you don't have to listen to your neighbor's conversation. The pacing of the meal (drinks, appetizers, main, dessert, and coffee) is perfect.
Lovely place with an authentic taste and dishes that will make your mouth water. Excellent service with great attention and recommendations. I will be back!
Pleasant setting for a family gathering of young and old, meat eaters and vegetarians, to eat, converse and warmup before viewing Zoo Lights.
Warm, friendly, authentic and Delicious. The restaurant is calm and it’s nice that you can talk without raising your voice.
Mama Ayesha's is a hidden gem and one of the best restaurants in DC. Delicious, authentic food options for every diet without a cumbersome wait; beautiful layout with ample space and not too loud; perfect for date night or a group get together. This place is my favorite.
The place is nice
The service is nice too
The food was less than average ( I am talking appetizers, main and desert)
It was very hard to find parking near by on Sunday evening
In conclusion not going again
Wonderful food and service with a great Middle Eastern atmosphere.
Came here with my family to catch up for dinner after not seeing each other for a while. Staff was amazing and food was better quality of service by Mr.Samjr and Amir were unforgettable we’ll definitely be coming back soon!
Delicious, vibrant, full of mezza options for both vegetarians and omnivores. Great for a meet up with colleagues, but there were also cozy dates happening around us. Highly recommended.
This place is all-around excellent, and a D.C. institution
The meal was excellent, as was the service. I could not ask for more.
We had the pleasure to dine here a week ago. We are still talking about how delicious and great the service was. Without a doubt this became a instant favorite DC restaurant for us. Their food is exquisite and superb service.
Always love this place, it had been a while since I’ve been back... but all the goodness was still there, food was delicious, atmosphere was quaint and cute, service was perfect.
Already thinking about my next meal here! Food was incredible, and staff and service was perfect. One of my favorite places ever!
Unfortunately, the cuisine was much less satisfying than I had hoped.
Absolutely fantastic Mediterranean cuisine. I definitely will want to go back on my next trip to the DC area!
Amazing restaurant! Greeted warmly by family who own/run restaurant. Food was excellent! Best Lamb Shank I have ever had! Lebanese wine? Who knew it is this good! This place has an interesting history make sure to read the news clipping on the founder in the foyer!
Great food once again! Moderate noise level, flavorful food.
The lamb shank was incredible! Service was outstanding!
Good food in a Middle Eastern themed restaurant. Baba ganouj was excellent-smoky and rich. Kebabs nicely done. We’d go back or take out.
This restaurant is a gem. It tastes like someone's grandmother is in the kitchen cooking with love -- just for you! The waiters are wonderful with recommendations. You can have easy conversations, as the room is quiet with fitting music. I love everything about it!
A must visit when in DC. We loved the cocktails - excellent. The food was fabulous
